Repairing of small and isolated delamination area in carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) without significantly altering the composite structure is studied in this research. A small drilled hole was introduced at the center of the delamination section of CFRP, providing the channel for epoxy infill of sharp delamination cracks. The pressureless infill repair was achieved through the capillary action of an acetone-diluted resin solution (without hardener) with CNT reinforcement, e.g., 89 m/m% of acetone, 10 m/m% of resin and 1m/m% of CNT. Such an acetone-rich resin pre-coating (RPC) solution is easy to prepare and apply to the drilled hole area. Curing of CNT-toughened resin infill was induced by filling the small-drilled hole with a resin-hardener mixture toughened by CNT/Aramid pulp. The effectiveness of delamination repair with curing periods of two weeks and three months were compared. Flexural strength measurements indicated that 77% (potentially 100%) of the restoration was achievable.
