Thermodynamics and phase transitions of magnetic Anti-de Sitter black holes are studied. We consider an extended phase space thermodynamics with the cosmological constant being a thermodynamic pressure and the black hole mass is treated as a chemical enthalpy. The extended phase space thermodynamics of black holes mimics the behavior of the Van der Walls liquid. Quantities conjugated to the coupling of nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) and a magnetic charge are obtained. Thermodynamic critical points of phase transitions are investigated. It is demonstrated that the first law of black hole thermodynamics and the generalized Smarr relation take place. The Joule--Thomson adiabatic expansion of NED-AdS black holes is studied. The dependence of inversion temperature on pressure and the minimum of inversion temperature are found.

We propose novel spectrometer designs that aim to enhance the measured spectral range 1 of ions on a finite-sized detector. In contrast to the traditional devices that use uniform magnetic 2 field, in which the deflection of particles increases inversely proportional to their momentum, in a 3 gradient magnetic field, the deflection of particles will be decreased due to the reduction of the 4 magnetic field along their propagation. Low energy ions are particularly impacted, as they are 5 deflected less and are more likely to reach the detector compared to being driven out of it while 6 using a uniform magnetic field. By the means of a gradient magnetic field, the nonlinear dispersion 7 of ions in a homogeneous magnetic field can approach a nearly linear dispersion. Nonetheless, 8 the dispersion of low energy ions in a homogeneous magnetic field remains unnecessarily high. 9 In this article, we explore linear, quadratic, and higher-order field profiles in comparison to the 10 homogeneous field case. We discuss the employed methodology and present simulation results of 11 the spectrometer with an extended ion spectral range, focusing on the minimum detectable energy 12 (energy dynamic range) and energy resolution

Electrical contacts are important circuit components with diverse industrial applications, and their failure can lead to multiple unwanted effects. Hence, the behavior of electrical contacts is a widely studied topic in scientific literature based on various approaches, tools, and techniques. The present study proposes a numerical modeling and simulation approach based on the Holm contact theory to study the dependence between the electric potential and the temperature within an electrical contact. Structured in 5 sections, the research was conducted using COMSOL Multiphysics software and its solid-state mechanics, electric current, and heat transfer modules in order to highlight contact behavior from mechanical, electrical and thermal points of view: the von Mises stress, contact force, the electric field amplitude, the variation of the electrical potential along the current path, the temperature gradient, and dependence of temperature along the contact elements edges were obtained by simulation and graphically represented. The results are in line with the expectations and with past research that was studied in the literature review.
