Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (PolSAR) images encompass valuable information that can facilitate extensive land cover interpretation and generate diverse output products. Extracting meaningful features from PolSAR data poses challenges distinct from those encountered in optical imagery. Deep Learning (DL) methods offer effective solutions for overcoming these challenges in PolSAR feature extraction. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) play a crucial role in capturing PolSAR image characteristics by leveraging kernel capabilities to consider local information and the complex-valued nature of PolSAR data. In this study, a novel three-branch fusion of complex-valued CNN named Shallow to Deep Feature Fusion Network (SDF2Net) is proposed for PolSAR image classification. To validate the performance of the proposed method, classification results are compared against multiple state-of-the-art approaches using the Airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (AIRSAR) datasets of Flevoland, San Francisco, and ESAR Oberpfaffenhofen dataset. The results indicate that the proposed approach demonstrates improvements in OA, with 1.3% and 0.8% enhancement for the AIRSAR datasets and 0.5% improvement for the ESAR dataset. The analyses conducted on the Flevoland data underscore the effectiveness of the SDF2Net model, revealing a promising OA of 96.01% even with only 1% sampling ratio.

This study proposes a new concept that explains the modern technological change: technology invasiveness that breaks into a scientific and technological ecosystem, with accelerated diffusion of large quantities of products leading to main change in the innovation ecotone that transfers knowledge and know-how in businesses and markets. Invasive technologies conquer scientific, technological and business space of alternative technologies and expand the knowledge space of adjacent possible by introducing radical innovations that support dynamic interactions between new technologies and emerging development and applications. This theoretical approach is empirically verified in emerging path-breaking technology of transformer, a deep learning architecture having unsupervised and semi-supervised algorithms that create new contents and mimics human ability (Generative Artificial Intelligence). Statistical evidence here, based on patent analyses, reveals that the growth rate of transformer technology is 55.82% (over 2016-2023) more than double compared to 23.02% of all other technologies, such as Convolutional Neural Network: it is force that is revolutionizing the way societies interact with machines. Hence invasive technologies are considered as one of the major causes of global technological change and this study offers a profound exploration of how invasive technologies drive technological change, significantly contributing to our understanding of technological evolution’s dynamics and its societal and industry impacts.

In the paper analyzes of Francis turbine failures for a powerful Pumped Hydraulic Energy Storage (PHES) are conducted. The structure is part of the PHES Chaira, Bulgaria (HA4 - Hydro-Aggregate 4). The aim is assessment of the structure-to-concrete embedment for possible cause of damages and destructions of the HA4 Francis spiral casing units. The embedment methods applied in the practice for decades are discussed and compared to that used for HA4. An innovative virtual prototype is built based on the finite element method to clarify the influence of workloads under generator mode. The stages of the simulation include:- complete structural analysis of the spiral case and the concrete under loads in generator mode;- complete structural analysis of the spiral case under loads in generator mode but without the concrete.Both procedures of simulations (with and without the concrete) are of major importance. Since a failure of the surface between the turbine, the spiral case and the concrete is observed the effect of the increasing contact gap (no contact) is analyzed. The stresses, strains and displacements of the turbine units are simulated followed by important analysis for reliability. The conclusions reveal the possible reasons for cracks and destruction in the main elements of the structure.

In recent decades, with the ever-growing scale of video data, near-duplicate videos continue to emerge. Data quality issue caused by near-duplicate videos is becoming more and more prominent, which has affected the application of normal videos. Although current studies on near-duplicate video detection can be helpful to uncover data quality issues for videos, they still lack a process of automatic merging for the video data represented by high-dimensional features, which are difficult to automatically clean the near-duplicate videos to improve data quality for video datasets. At present, there are few studies on near-duplicate video data cleaning. The existing studies have the sensitive problems of video data orderliness and clustering initial center under a condition that prior distribution is unknown, which seriously affect the accuracy of near-duplicate video data cleaning. To address the above issues, an automatic near-duplicate video data cleaning method based on a consistent feature hash ring is proposed in this paper. First, a residual network with convolutional block attention modules, a long short-term memory deep network, and an attention model are integrated to construct an RCLA deep network with the multi-headed attention mechanism to extract spatiotemporal features of video data. Then, a consistent feature hash ring is constructed, which can effectively alleviate the sensitivity of video data orderliness while providing a condition of near-duplicate video merging. To reduce the sensitivity of the initial cluster centers to results of near-duplicate video cleansing, an optimized feature distance-means clustering algorithm is constructed by utilizing a mountain peak function on a consistent feature hash ring, which can implement automatic cleaning of near-duplicate video data. Finally, experiments are conducted based on a commonly used dataset named CC_WEB_VIDEO and a coal mining video dataset. Compared with some existing works, simulation results demonstrate that the performance of the proposed method.

Nowadays, the development or improvement of actuation mechanisms is a crucial topic for the achievement of dextrous manipulation using soft robots. Then, a primary target of research is the design of actuation and driving devices. Consequently, in this paper, we introduce a soft driving epicyclical mechanism that mimics human muscle behavior and fulfills motion requirements to achieve grasping gestures using a robotic finger. The prototype is experimentally assessed, and results show that our approach has enough performance for the implementation in grasping tasks. Furthermore, we introduce the basis for a new soft epicyclical mechanism merger with shape memory alloys to allow active stiffness control of the mechanism.

In this research work, we examined the decomposition mechanisms of N-substituted diacetamides. We focused on the substituent effect on the nitrogen lone pair electron delocalization, withdrawing and electron donor groups. DFT functionals used included: B1LYP, B3PW91, CAMB3LYP, LC-BLYP, and X3LYP. Dispersion functions gd3bj were applied when necessary to improve non-covalent interactions in the transition state. Pople with higher angular moments and def2-TZVP basis sets were also applied and were crucial for obtaining consistent thermodynamic parameters. The proposed mechanism involves a six-membered transition state with the extraction of an α hydrogen. Several conformers of N-diacetamides were used to account for the decrease in entropy in the transition state in the rate-determining state. All calculations, including Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) analyses, were performed using the Gaussian16 computational package and its GaussView 6.0 visualizer, along with VMD and GNUPLOT software. The isosurfaces and IBSI indexes were calculated using MultiWFN and IGMPlot, respectively.

Variable-DOF (or kinematotropic) mechanisms are a class of reconfigurable mechanisms. The number of variable-DOF multi-loop planar mechanisms proposed so far is very limited. This paper proposes a novel 8-link variable-DOF planar mechanism with five motion modes. Firstly, a description of the 8-link variable-DOF planar mechanism is presented. Reconfiguration analysis of the 8-link mechanism is then carried out using an elimination and algebraic geometry hybrid approach. The analysis shows that the 8-link mechanism has one 2-DOF motion mode and four 1-DOF motion modes and can switch among three motion modes at four transition configurations and between two motion modes at the remaining four transition configurations. Geometric characteristics of the mechanism in different motion modes are also revealed. Unlike the variable-DOF planar mechanisms found in literature, the proposed 8-link mechanism has two inactive joints in one of its 1-DOF motion modes, and both 4R kinematic sub-chains of the mechanism must appear as parallelograms in a pair or anti-parallelograms in a pair in the same motion mode. As a by-product, a method for factoring trigonometric functions in two angles is proposed.

This study presents the development and evaluation of a Multi-Task Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) model with an Attention Mechanism designed to predict students' academic performance. The model concurrently addresses two tasks: predicting overall performance (total score) as a regression task and categorizing performance levels (remarks) as a classification task. By processing both tasks simultaneously, the model optimizes computational efficiency and resource use. The dataset includes detailed student performance records across various metrics such as Continuous Assessment, Practical Skills, Demeanor, Presentation Quality, Attendance, and Participation. The model's performance was evaluated using comprehensive metrics. For the regression task, it achieved a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 0.0249, Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.0012, and Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) of 0.0346. For the classification task, it attained perfect scores with an accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score of 1.0. These results highlight the model's high accuracy and robustness in predicting both continuous and categorical outcomes. The Attention Mechanism enhances the model's capabilities by identifying and focusing on the most relevant features. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of the Multi-Task LSTM with Attention Mechanism in educational data analysis, offering a reliable tool for predicting student performance and potential broader applications in similar multi-task learning contexts. Future work will explore further enhancements and wider applications to improve predictive accuracy and efficiency.

To address the problems of lining cracking and spalling of tunnel structures in coastal areas under the influence of special geologic conditions, environmental loading, and the coupling effect of chemical erosion effects, hybrid fibers were introduced to fly ash concrete in this study. The working performance, compressive strength, split tensile strength, and flexural strength of the hybrid fiber fly ash concrete were tested.The NEL chloride diffusion coefficient under steady-state conditions and the durability test for resistance to sulfate corrosion were carried out. Thus, in-depth analyses of the comprehensive performance of the hybrid fiber fly ash concrete used for tunnel lining were carried out and the damage mechanism were explored. The results showed that the hybrid fiber fly ash concrete exhibited higher strength compared to the control group concrete. However, when the fibers exceeded a certain dosage, the reduction in the working properties of the concrete structure led to the creation of larger pores in the matrix structure, which in turn affected the mechanical properties of the concrete. The most significant reduction in NEL chloride diffusion coefficient was observed when both steel fibers and coconut fibers were added at 1.0 % volumetric parameter, compared to the control group. The apparent state and compressive strength after sulfate corrosion were also minimally affected. This study ensured that the mechanical properties of the concrete were improved and also substantially improved the corrosion resistance of the matrix, providing a scientific basis for the performance improvement of tunnel lining concrete, confirming that steel-coconut fibers hybrid fiber fly ash concrete has a great potential to improve the structural load bearing capacity and durability, and may provide theoretical support for the continued use of tunneling projects and construction processes.

China’s rural e-commerce has been developing rapidly. Taobao Villages are combination of e-commerce and rural industries. When rural e-commerce coverage evolves from Taobao village to Taobao town, the scale of industrial clusters has been expanding synchronously. This paper investigates flower and seedling industrial cluster in Xinhe Town, Yanji Town and Miaotou Town of Shuyang County, China, and conducts the econometric analysis of the expansive determinants of flower and seedling industrial cluster of Taobao Villages. An effective sample of 263 was obtained through a face-to-face survey of e-merchants of flower and seedling in the Shuyang County of Jiangsu Province. Bases on the structural equation modeling, series of test results show that the data can be used to calculate the path regression. The outcomes shows that creation of e-merchants of flower and seedling, integration of e-commerce platform, supply chain friendliness, involvement of e-commerce service providers, and governmental policy guidance are driving expansion of flower and seedling industrial cluster together, moreover, the five forces interact with each other. This implies that expansion of flower and seedling industrial cluster is a systematic process, each stakeholder needs to pay attention to the role of other forces, and five forces achieve a balanced situation in the cluster.

Microbial communities inhabiting the human body play a crucial role in protecting the host against pathogens and inflammation. Disruptions to the microbial composition can lead to various health issues. Microbial transfer therapy (MTT) has emerged as a potential treatment option to address such issues. Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is the most widely used form of MTT and has been successful in treating several diseases. Another form of MTT is vaginal microbiota transplantation (VMT), which involves transferring vaginal microbiota from a healthy female donor to a diseased patient's vaginal cavity with the goal of restoring normal vaginal microbial composition. However, VMT has not been extensively studied due to safety concerns and a lack of research. This paper explores the therapeutic mechanisms of VMT and discusses future perspectives. Further research is necessary to advance the clinical applications and techniques of VMT.

The formula Chong-Lou-Yao-Fang (CLYF) is an herbal medicinal formulation developed by the indigenous Naxi people for treating liver cancer. This study is to reveal the biological activity, potential targets, and molecular mechanisms of CLYF for cancer treatment through network pharmacology, molecular docking and in vitro experiments. 35 key compounds were screened from 176 active ingredients in CLYF, which played a vital role in the treatment of cancer, 20 core targets were filtered through protein–protein interaction (PPI) network analysis. The enrichment analysis of Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) indicated that PI3K-Akt, MAPK, hepatitis B, hepatitis C might be effective in liver cancer treatment. Mo-lecular docking revealed stable binding between EGFR, TP53, and AKT1 with active ingredients. Experiments with cell cultures confirmed that CLYF-A suppressed the proliferation of HepG2 cells, which is consistent with the network pharmacology approach undertaken and the predictions of molecular docking. CLYF-A also induced significant apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in HepG2 cells, which was associated with the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential. This study explored the biological activity, potential targets, and molecular mechanisms of CLYF for cancer treatment. Our results may provide a scientific basis for the clinical use of CLYF for cancer treatment and have important implications for developing pharmaceutical preparations, which also need more phar-macological experiments.

The prevalence of antiviral drugs (AVTs) has seen a substantial increase in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to heightened concentrations of these pharmaceuticals in wastewater systems. The hydrophilic nature of AVTs has been identified as a significant factor contributing to the low degradation efficiency observed in wastewater treatment plants. This characteristic often necessitates the implementation of additional treatment steps to achieve complete degradation of AVTs. Semiconductor-based photocatalysis has garnered considerable attention due to its promising potential in achieving efficient degradation rates and subsequent mineralization of pollutants, leveraging the inexhaustible energy of sunlight. However, in recent years, there have been few comprehensive reports that have thoroughly summarized and analyzed the application of photocatalysis for the removal of AVTs. This review commences by summarizing the types and occurrence of AVTs. Furthermore, it places a significant emphasis on delivering a comprehensive summary and analysis of the characteristics pertaining to the photocatalytic elimination of AVTs. Ultimately, the review sheds light on the identified research gaps and key concerns, offering invaluable insights to steer future investigations in this field.

The rise of antibiotic-resistant strains of clinically important pathogens is a major threat to global health security. The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized the urgent need to develop alternative treatments to address the growing list of priority pathogens. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) rank among the various suggested options with proven activity and a high potential to be developed into effective agents. Many AMPs are naturally produced by living organisms and protect the host against pathogens as a part of their innate immunity. Various mechanisms associated with their antimicrobial actions include cell membrane disruption, cell wall weakening, protein synthesis inhibition, and interference in nucleic acid dynamics that can induce apoptosis and necrosis. Acinetobacter baumannii is considered a critical pathogen, and severe clinical problems have appeared with isolates resistant to current antibiotic treatments and conventional control procedures such as UV light, disinfectants, and drying. Here, we review the natural AMPs representing the primary candidates for new anti-A. baumannii drugs in a post-antibiotic era and present the use of computational tools to develop the next generation of AMPs with greater microbicidal activity and reduced toxicity.

The main objective of this study focuses on designing and testing body protection systems using advanced materials based on aramid fibers, for high impact speeds of up to 410...430 m/s. The investigation of the failure mechanisms identifies issues of protective materials, major challenges and technological problems for efficient development of these systems. The authors presents an investigation on the failure processes and destructive stages of a ballistic package made of succesive layers of LFT SB1plus, taking into account the particular test conditions from NIJ Standard-0101.06 Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor. The main parameter of interest was the backface signature (BFS), but also details of projectile arrest and SEM investigaton could offer arguments in using this material for individual protection.

The construction of tunnels excavated by the conventional method in densely populated urban environments requires an adequate characterization of the loads acting on the primary lining during the excavation process to ensure that the ground is deformed and stresses around the tunnel are relieved, simultaneously complying with the failure and serviceability limits of international standards while minimizing damage to nearby structures. In this paper, common lining design criteria are revisited, through the numerical simulation of an instrumented tunnel section which is part of a 4.5 km long metro line currently under construction in Mexico City. Key needs for improvement in current design approaches are identified. The tunnel was instrumented with load cells, extensometers, and topographical references for convergences and divergences. A three-dimensional finite difference model of the instrumented section was developed, and the load transfer mechanisms between the excavated soil and the primary lining was analyzed. Then, the numerical simulation of the contribution of the secondary lining in the overall stability for sustained load was established, along with the expected ground settlements, which can significantly affect nearby structures. Results gathered from this research are key for updating lining design criteria for urban tunnels built in stiff brittle soils.

Antioxidants are molecules that neutralize free radicals. In general, the reaction mechanisms of antioxidants are well known. The main reaction mechanisms of antioxidants are electron transfer (ET), proton transfer (PT), H atom transfer (HAT) and radical adduction (RAF). The study of these mechanisms is helpful to understand how antioxidants control high free radical levels on the cell. There are many studies focused on determine the main mechanism of an antioxidant to neutralize a wide spectrum of radicals, mainly reactive oxygen species (ROS) type radicals. Most of these antioxidants are polyphenols type compounds. Some esters, amides and metal-antioxidants have shown antioxidant activity. There are few experimental and theoretical studies about the antioxidant reaction mechanism of the aforementioned compounds. In this work, we shown the reaction mechanism proposed of an amide and its metal-antioxidant counterpart. We show how the presence of the metal increase the electron transfer on polar media and the H transfer in non-polar media. Even though, esters and amides are non-polar compound, the scavenger activity is good for the metal-antioxidant compound in no-polar media

Glass cleaning is one of the major cleaning tasks in malls, offices, and modern households where the human workforce is still used for cleaning. Manual cleaning on façade glasses is a less safe, tedious, ineffective, and complex process. With the advancement of robot technology, it is possible to use robots for glass cleaning to facilitate mankind and improve cleaning efficiency. This work presents the development of a vacuum-type glass cleaning robot for façade cleaning and its performance analysis. The developed square-shaped robot is controlled by an Arduino Mega microcontroller, equipped with vacuuming and cleaning technology. An adhesion mechanism on the wheels makes the robot move forward and backward on the glass. The robot runs on a 24-volt DC with a power rating of 75 watts. There are ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles and help the robot navigate. The robot uses a random-walk mechanism and works continuously for 90 minutes effectively. The performance of the robot has been analyzed in terms of coverage area, repeatability, and dust collection efficiency.

Abstract: Because of outstanding heat resistance and processing qualities, benzoxazine resins are widely employed in a variety of applications. However, traditional benzoxazine resins still confront hurdles in today's engineering applications, such as can’t long-term service in high-temperature settings and inadequate toughness. Four alkyne-functionalized benzoxazines with phthalide side group and cyano group of varying molecular weights were produced in this study. Fourier trans-form infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and hydrogen nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 1H-NMR ) were used to characterize the resin structure, and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to investigate the thermal curing kinetics at different warming rates, the apparent activation energy was 116.9 kJ/mol. In-situ FTIR was used to investigate the cure mechanism. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) was used to evaluate the gelationation time of BOZ series resins at various temperatures, and the curing process was designed by combined the results of DSC. The Tg of the composites made using BOZ-1N21 as the matrix was 336°C, which was much higher than the Tg of the BP-a resin made with aniline, phenolphthalein, and formaldehyde (Tg=251°C). As a result, the resin system is expected to be employed in applications requiring high-temperature resistance and toughness.

Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) are highly efficient tools for underwater exploration, capable of carrying various payloads to perform specific missions as needed. To ensure the success of these missions and the spatiotemporal accuracy of sampled data, integrated navigation systems and appropriate filtering algorithms are essential. These systems process and merge motion data to provide accurate positioning information. The most commonly used algorithms in integrated navigation systems are Kalman filter and its nonlinear derivatives. Of these, the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) is particularly notable for its ability to handle nonlinear systems by incorporating Monte Carlo methods. This study proposes an enhanced adaptive EnKF algorithm to improve the smoothness and accuracy of the filtering process. Instead of the conventional Gaussian distribution, this algorithm employs a Laplace distribution to construct the system state vector and observation vector ensembles, enhancing stability against non-Gaussian noise. Additionally, the algorithm dynamically adjusts the number of vector members in the ensemble using adaptive mechanism by specifying thresholds during filtering, to adapt the requirements of real-world observational settings. Using measured data from field trials, including DVL, GPS, and electronic compass data, we examine the effects of various parameter settings on the algorithm's performance. Optimal parameter settings are identified to fine-tune and verify the filtering algorithm as well as its adaptive capability. The results demonstrate that the enhanced adaptive EnKF algorithm exhibits superior filtering performance in terms of both accuracy and smoothness compared to the conventional EnKF and EKF algorithms. This indicates the significant advantages of our proposed algorithm for AUV navigation.

Two polyurethanes (PUs) were similarly synthesized by reacting a cycloaliphatic isocyanate with 1,4 butanediol and two polyols of different nature (polyester, polycarbonate diol) with molecular weights of 1000 Da. The PU made with polycarbonate diol polyol (YCD) was the only showing intrinsic self-healing at 20 °C. For assessing the mechanism of intrinsic self-healing of YCD, a structural characterization by molecular weights determination, infrared and X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopies, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetric analysis and dynamic mechanical thermal analysis was carried out. It was concluded that the self-healing at 20 °C of YCD was due to non-covalent dynamic exchange interactions among the carbonate groups of the soft segments. Therefore, the chemical nature of the polyol played a key role in developing PUs with intrinsic self-healing at 20 °C.

Single-cell green microalga Nannochloropsis oceanica is potentially considered to be the bioresource for biofuel and pharmaceutical production. Urea is a kind of nutrient component for photosyn-thetic N. oceanica. Meanwhile, urea could induce to accumulate some substances such as lipid and affect its growth and physiology. However, how marine microalga N. oceanica respond and adapt to urea addition remains elusive. Here, acclimation of the metabolic reprogramming to changes in the nutrient environment was studied by high-throughput mRNA sequencing in N. oceanica under Ct vs U, there were 2104 genes displayed differential expression (including 1354 upregulation and 750 downregulation, respectively) and some pathways including carbon/nitrogen metabolism, photosynthesis, and lipid metabolism would be reprogrammed in N. oceanica. The results showed that genes related to photosynthesis in N. oceanica were significantly down-regulated, especially those related to light harvesting proteins. Interestingly, urea absorption and transport may de-pend not only on specialized transport mechanisms such as urease, but also on alternative transport channels such as the ABC transporter family, CLC protein family. In addition, urea causes specific changes in carbon and lipid metabolism. Genes associated with the Calvin cycle and carbon concentration mechanisms were significantly upregulated. In lipid metabolism, genes associated with lipases, or polyunsaturated fatty acid enzymes, are highly activated. In addition, expression is enhanced in the tricarboxylic acid cycle and folate metabolism, making important contributions to energy supply and synthesis and modification of genes or macromolecules. These phenomena indicate that N. oceanica actively and dynamically regulates the redistribution of carbon and nitrogen after urea addition., which will provide references for further research on the effects of urea on N. oceanica.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has acquired multiple mutations since its emergence. Analyses of the SARS-CoV-2 genomes from infected patients exhibit a bias toward C-to-U mutations, which are suggested to be caused by the apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme polypeptide-like 3 (APOBEC3, A3) cytosine deaminase proteins. However, the role of A3 enzymes in SARS-CoV-2 replication remains unclear. To address this question, we investigated the effect of A3 family proteins on SARS-CoV-2 replication in THP-1 cells lacking A3A to A3G genes. The Wuhan, BA.1, and BA.5 variants had comparable viral replication in parent and A3A-to-A3G-null THP-1-ACE2 cells. On the other hand, the replication and infectivity of these variants were abolished in A3A-to-A3G-null THP-1-ACE2 cells in a series of passage experiments over 20 days. In contrast to previous reports, we observed no evidence for A3-induced SARS-CoV-2 mutagenesis in the passage experiments. Furthermore, our analysis of a large number of publicly available SARS-CoV-2 genomes did not reveal conclusive evidence for A3-induced mutagenesis. Taken together, our studies suggest that A3 family proteins can positively contribute to SARS-CoV-2 replication, however this effect is deaminase-independent.

The flywheel is a widespread mechanical component used for the storage of kinetic energy and angular momentum. It typically consists of a cylindrical inertia rotating about its axis on rolling bearings, which involves undesired friction, lubrication, and wear. This paper presents an alternative mechanism that is functionally equivalent to a classical flywheel while relying exclusively on limited-stroke flexure-joints. This novel 1-degrees-of-freedom zero-stiffness mechanism has no wear and requires no lubrication: it is thus compatible with extreme environments, such as vacuum, cryogenics, or ionizing radiation. The mechanism is composed of two coupled pivoting rigid bodies whose individual angular momenta vary during motion but whose sum is constant at all times when the pivoting rate is constant. The quantitative comparison of the flexure-based flywheel to classical ones based on a hollow cylinder as inertia shows that the former stores typically 6 times less angular momentum and kinetic energy for the same mass while occupying typically 10 times more volume. The freedom of design of the shape of the rigid bodies offers the possibility of modifying the ratio of the kinetic energy stored versus angular momentum, which is not possible with classical flywheels. For example, a flexure-based flywheel with rigid pivoting bodies in the shape of thin discs stores 100 times more kinetic energy than a classical flywheel with the same angular momentum. A proof-of-concept prototype was successfully built and characterized in terms of reaction moment generation, which validates the presented analytical model.

Using banana peel as raw material, the adsorption properties of hydrothermal carbon pre-10 pared from banana peel modified with different concentrations of phosphoric acid solution for lead 11 ions in aqueous solution were studied. The surface structure and functional groups of the modified 12 hydrothermal carbon were analyzed by XRD and SEM. The results show that the surface of the 13 modified banana peel hydrothermal carbon prepared at 240℃ and 2mol/L phosphoric acid solution 14 has large pores. The adsorption capacity is larger when pH value is 6.When the concentration of 15 phosphoric acid solution was 2mol/L, the solid-liquid ratio was 2g/L, the adsorption capacity was 16 40.64mg/g, and the removal rate was 82.74%.When the initial concentration of lead solution in-17 creased to 100mg/L, the adsorption capacity of modified hydrothermal carbon for lead ion increased 18 to 76.81mg/g, and the removal rate decreased to 76.81%.The equilibrium adsorption time of banana 19 peel phosphoric acid modified hydrothermal carbon for lead ions in solution is 300min. The adsorp-20 tion process satisfies the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Langmuir isotherm equation. The 21 reaction temperature is 313K, and the equilibrium adsorption capacity can reach 101.19mg/g. The 22 adsorption of Pb ions in aqueous solution by phosphoric acid modified hydrothermal carbon is 23 dominated by single layer chemisorption. The artificial neural network has a fitting correlation of 24 0.99, and the adsorption process includes physical adsorption, electrostatic attraction, ion exchange, 25 and surface complexation.

Course recommendation is an important service of Intelligent tutoring systems (ITS), the rapid development of large-scale online courses has generated a substantial amount of learning process data for online learning platforms, providing valuable support for understanding learners' interests and preferences. However, despite made considerable achievements, there are still unresolved challenges:(1) Current research neglects the sequential relationship between the course learners learn. (2) It does not take advantage of the differences in learners' interest in different courses during the knowledge dissemination process. To overcome these challenges, we propose an innovative solution called PGDB (Preference-aware graph diffusion network and BiLSTM) for course recommendation. Specifically, we analyze learners' preferences for courses and relational paths using a relation-aware multi-head attention network, learn the semantic diversity of different contexts, effectively distinguish the difference of learners' interest in different courses in the process of knowledge transmission. In addition, the temporal preference modeling module employs a bi-directional long short-term memory network to mine learners' interest evolution patterns, generating learner-dependent representations, efficient use of the sequential relationship between the courses taken by learners. Experimental results on real datasets demonstrate that the proposed model greatly exceeds the performance of the most recent baseline models, thereby validating the model's effectiveness.

Previously, we reported that metronidazole MICs are not dependent on the expression levels of nim genes in B. fragilis strains; and we also compared the proteomes of metronidazole-resistant laboratory B. fragilis strains to those of their susceptible parent strains. Here, we used RT-qPCR to correlate the expression levels of 18 candidate genes in a panel of selected, clinical nim gene-positive and -negative B. fragilis strains to their metronidazole MICs. Metronidazole MICs were correlated to the expression of certain tested genes. Specifically, lactate dehydrogenase expression correlated positively, whereas cytochrome fumarate reductase/succinate dehydrogenase, malate dehydrogenase, phosphoglycerate kinase redox and gat (GCN5-like acetyltransferase), and relA (stringent response) regulatory gene expressions correlated negatively with metronidazole MICs. This result provides evidence for the involvement of carbohydrate catabolic enzymes in metronidazole resistance in B. fragilis. This result was supported by direct substrate utilization tests. However, the exact roles of these genes/proteins should be determined in deletion–complementation tests. Moreover, the exact redox cofactor(s) participating in metronidazole activation need to be identified.

Primulina serrulata is a valuable ornamental herb with rosette leaves and vibrant flowers. Some leaves exhibit a bright and distinct white color along the upper veins, enhancing their ornamental value, while others are less white or entirely green. This variation is observed among adult leaves in natural habitats and among young leaves from seedlings grown in the laboratory. TMT-labeled proteomic technology was employed to study the protein-level biogenesis of white-veined (WV) leaves of P. serrulata. The chlorophyll (Chl) content was significantly lower in the WV group than in the control group. A total of 6,261 proteins were identified, revealing 69 differentially expressed proteins (DEPs), with 44 down-regulated and 25 up-regulated in WV plants. Some DEPs associated with chloroplasts and Chl biosynthesis were down-regulated, leading to the absence of green coloration. Concurrently, gene ontology enrichment analysis further underscored an insufficiency of magnesium , the key element in Chl biosynthesis. Many DEPs associated with abiotic or biotic stresses were down-regulated, suggesting an overall weakening of stress resistance with certain compensatory mechanisms in place. Similarly, many DEPs related to biomacromolecule modification were down-regulated, possibly influenced by the decrease in proteins involved in photosynthesis and stress resistance. Some DEPs containing iron were up-regulated, indicating that iron was mainly used to synthesize heme and ferritin instead of Chl. Additionally, several DEPs related to sulfur or sulfate were up-regulated, implying strengthened respiration. Expansin-A4 and pectinesterase displayed up-regulation, coinciding with the emergence of a rough and bright surface in the white area, indicative of the elongation and gelation processes in cell walls. These findings provide new insights that could be utilized by future studies to explore the mechanism of color formation in WV leaves.

Sepsis, characterized by a dysregulated systemic inflammatory response to infection, remains a significant global health burden, despite substantial advancements in its treatment. An understanding of the underlying mechanisms driving sepsis is crucial for the development of targeted therapeutic strategies. Silent information regulator 1 (SIRT1), a member of the class III histone deacetylases, plays a pivotal role in regulating gene expression by catalyzing the deacetylation of lysine residues on non-histone and histone proteins. With the advancement of sepsis research, SIRT1 has been shown to exert significant anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidative, anti-apoptotic, and metabolic regulatory effects, positioning it as a potential therapeutic target for sepsis. This article reviews the latest progress on research into the signaling pathways modulated by SIRT1 in sepsis and its associated regulatory mechanisms to further elucidate the pathogenesis of sepsis and assist in guiding clinical treatment.

The composite coatings prepared by mixing the 5 wt.% of polyaniline with commercial alkyd-based paint are applied on carbon steel. The polyaniline emeraldine chloride salt is prepared by procedure recommended by IUPAC, deprotonated by ammonia hydroxide, and reprotonated with the sulfamic, succinic, citric, and acetic acids with different doping degrees or oxidation states. The steel samples with base and composite coatings are immersed in 3% NaCl and the corrosion current density is determined after 96 h in-site using ASTM 1,10-phenanthroline method. The samples are also inspected by the optical microscope. It is shown that composite coatings reduce the possibility of blister formations and delamination. The corrosion current density and the appearance of the corrosion products, which area is determined by ImageJ softer, closely follow the initial oxidation state of the polyaniline. The role of the initial state of the polyaniline is discussed. It is suggested that such behavior could be connected with the oxygen reduction reaction mechanism that proceeds mainly via two electron paths on the polyaniline particles, releasing a much smaller amount of hydroxyl ions, responsible for the delamination and blister formations of the commercial coatings.

This paper aims to address the exponential stability and stabilization problems for a class of delayed nonlinear Markov jump systems under randomly occurring Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack and packet loss. Firstly, the stochastic characteristics of DoS attack and packet loss are depicted by the attack success rate and packet loss rate. Secondly, a Period Observation Window (POW) method and a hybrid-input strategy are proposed to compensate for the impact of DoS attack and packet loss on the system. Thirdly, A Dynamic Event-triggered Mechanism (DETM) is introduced to save more network resources and ensure the security and reliability of systems. Then, by constructing a general common Lyapunov functional and combining with the DETM and other inequality analysis techniques, the less conservative stability and stabilization criteria for the underlying systems are derived. In the end, the effectiveness of our result is verified through a numerical example.

Asthma is a prevalent disease that around 300 million worldwide, resulting in substantial morbidity, mortality, and economic burden on a global scale. New clinical and laboratory research has shed light on the immunology causing asthma. Asthma is now recognized as a heterogeneous disease. A personalized medicine is based on the classification of asthma by endotype by linking observable characteristics to immunological mechanisms. Identifying endotype mechanisms is essential for better characterizing patients and personalizing therapeutic approaches with novel biological agents that target specific immune pathways. This article provides a summary of the major immunological mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis and emergence of the disease's phenotypic features, as well as the individualized treatment for severe asthma subtypes

Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a non-protein-producing amino acid, is extensively found in microorganisms, plants and vertebrates, and is abundantly expressed in the spinal cord and brain. To date, GABA is considered to be the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. Its physiological effects are related to the regulation of synaptic transmission, the promotion of neuronal development and relaxation, and the prevention of insomnia and depres-sion. Mediated through its specific receptors, it plays a pivotal role in the control of neuronal ex-citability, which can serve as anovel target for developing analgesics for pain management. This review provides an update on the accumulating evidence of specific GABA receptors and their subtypes in the involvement of pain analgesia.

The present study investigates the failure mechanisms of industrial fiber materials, using a custom designed fiber cutting performance test bench. The fracture morphologies of single PA6 fibers are examined by scanning electron microscopy. The analysis reveals that fiber cutting can be distinguished according to four distinct stages of fiber failure represented by shearing, cutting, brittle fracture, and tensile failure, which are the result of different mechanisms active during the processes of crack initiation, extension and fracture. The results of fractographic analysis are further verified by an analysis of the blade assembly speed with respect to time over the entire fracture failure process based on high-speed camera data. The results of fractographic analysis and blade assembly speed are fully consistent.

With the development of the Internet, The content people share contains types of text, images, and videos, and utilizing these multimodal data for sentiment analysis has become an important area of research. Multimodal sentiment analysis aims to understand and perceive emotions or sentiments in different types of data. Currently, the realm of multimodal sentiment analysis faces various challenges, with a major emphasis on addressing two key issues: 1) Inefficiency when modeling the intra-modality and inter-modality dynamics and 2) Inability to effectively fuse multimodal features. In this paper, we proposed the CCDA(Cross-Correlation in Dual-Attention) model, a novel method to explore dynamics between different modalities and fuse multimodal features efficiently. We capture dynamics at intra- and inter-modal levels by using two types of attention mechanisms simultaneously. Meanwhile, the cross-correlation loss is introduced to capture the correlation between attention mechanisms. Moreover, the relevant coefficient is proposed to integrate multimodal features effectively. Extensive experiments were conducted on three publicly available datasets, CMU-MOSI, CMU-MOSEI, and CH-SIMS. The experimental results fully confirm the effectiveness of our proposed method, and compared with the current optimal method (SOTA), our model shows obvious advantages in most of the key metrics, proving its better performance in multimodal sentiment analysis.

We introduce a novel hybrid Transformer-CNN architecture for robotic grasp detection, designed to enhance the accuracy of grasping unknown objects. Our proposed architecture has two key designs. Firstly, we develop a hierarchical transformer as the encoder, incorporating the external attention to effectively capture the correlation features across the data. Secondly, the decoder is constructed with cross-layer connections to efficiently fuse multi-scale features. Channel attention is introduced in the decoder to model the correlation between channels and to adaptively recalibrate the channel correlation feature response, thereby increasing the weight of the effective channels. Our method is evaluated on the Cornell and Jacquard public datasets, achieving an image-wise detection accuracy of 98.3% and 95.8% on each dataset, respectively. Additionally, we achieve object-wise detection accuracy of 96.9% and 92.4% on the same datasets. A physical experiment is also performed using the Elite 6Dof robot, with a grasping accuracy rate of 93.3%, demonstrating the proposed method's ability to grasp unknown objects in real-world scenarios. The results of this study show that our proposed method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods.

According to Cybersecurity Ventures, the global cost of cybercrime will reach $6 trillion annually by 2021, which is significantly more than the annual damage caused by all natural disasters and more profitable than the global trade in all major illegal narcotics put together. Botnets are the most common and have a significant negative impact on any civilization among malware programmes. As a result, this study will explore various P2P botnet detection algorithms by outlining their essential characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, obstacles, and future research.

Developing new antibiotics poses a significant challenge in the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a critical global health threat responsible for approximately 5 million deaths annually. Finding new classes of antibiotics that are safe, have acceptable pharmacokinetic properties, and are appropriately active against pathogens is a lengthy and expensive process. Therefore, high-throughput platforms are needed to screen large libraries of synthetic and natural compounds. In this review, we present bacterial cytological profiling (BCP) as a rapid, scalable, and cost-effective method for identifying the mechanisms of action of antibiotics, offering a promising tool for combating AMR and drug discovery. We present the application of BCP for different bacterial organisms and different classes of antibiotics and discuss BCP's advantages, limitations, and potential improvements. Furthermore, we highlight the studies that have utilized BCP to investigate pathogens listed in the Bacterial Priority Pathogens List 2024 and we identify the pathogens whose cytological profiles are missing. Lastly, we explore the most recent artificial intelligence and deep learning techniques that could enhance the analysis of data generated by BCP, potentially advancing our understanding of antibiotic resistance mechanisms and the discovery of novel druggable pathways.

Herein, activated red mud particles are used as an adsorbent for adsorbing phosphorus. Different concentrations of HCl and deionized water are used for desorption tests, and the optimal desorption mechanism is investigated. The Langmuir isothermal model and pseudo-second-order kinetic linear model produce consistent results: the desorption is dominated by the surface desorption of the monomolecular layer, and chemical desorption limits the rate of surface desorption. The desorption thermodynamics indicates that the desorption of phosphorus by the desorbent is spontaneous and high temperature promotes desorption. The particle diffusion model demonstrates that the removal of phosphorus in the form of precipitation from the surface of an activated hematite particle adsorbent occurs primarily via a chemical reaction, and an analysis of the microscopic morphology indicates that the desorption process is primarily accompanied by the dissolution of the metal element Ca, followed by Al and Fe. The desorbent reacts with the active elements in red mud, and the vibration of the [SiO4]2− group calcite or aragonite group of calcium–iron garnet in the functional group disappears. The intensity of the wave peaks of the PO43− groups decreases considerably. Thus, desorption primarily involves the chemical desorption of the monomolecular layer.

Smart mechatronics system in agriculture can be traced back to the mid-1980s, when research into automated fruit harvesting systems began in Japan, Europe, and the United States. Since then, impressive advances have been made smart mechatronics systems. Furthermore, smart mechatronics systems are promising areas, as results, we were intrigued to learn more about them. Consequently, the purpose of this study was to examine the smart mechatronic systems that have been applied to agricultural areas so far, with inspiration from smart mechatronic system in other sectors. To get an overview of the current state of the art, benefits and drawbacks of the smart mechatronics systems, various approaches were investigated. Moreover, smart mechatronic modules, and various networks applied in agriculture processing were examined. Finally, we were explored how the data retrieved using the one-way analysis of variance related to each other. The result showed that there were strong related keywords for different journals. The virtually limited use of sophisticated mechatronics in the agricultural industry, and at the same time, the low production rate, the demand for food security has fallen dramatically. Therefore, the application of smart mechatronics system in agricultural sectors would be taken into consideration in order to overcome these issues.

To realize the diagnosis of compound faults in gearboxes at different speeds, an "end-to-end" intelligent diagnosis method based on a deep neural network is proposed, named efficiency channel attention-capsule network (ECA-CN). First, the process uses a deep convolutional neural network to extract fault features from the collected raw vibration signals, then embeds the efficient channel attention module to filter important fault features, then uses the capsule network to vectorize the feature space information, and finally calculates the correlation between different levels of capsules by the dynamic routing algorithm to achieve accurate gearbox compound fault diagnosis. The effectiveness of the proposed ECA-CN fault diagnosis method was verified by the composite fault dataset of the 2009 PHM Challenge gearbox, with an average accuracy of 99.63% and a standard deviation of 0.22%. In the comparison experiments with the traditional fault diagnosis method, the average accuracy of the ECA-CN method was improved by 4.62%, and the standard deviation was reduced by 0.58%. The experimental results show that ECA-CN has a more competitive diagnostic performance.

This study examined the thermal reflective properties and mechanisms of composite inorganic coatings applied to various wall types. It evaluated the influence of these coatings on the thermal insulation and reflectivity of walls. The findings indicate that coating application markedly enhances the wall's thermal insulation capabilities and increases the heat flux reflection ratio. These results offer crucial theoretical backing and practical guidance for the future use of coating technologies in construction. By refining the coating formulations and application processes, the thermal insulation properties of walls can be further enhanced, thus making a significant contribution to building energy efficiency and environmental protection. Consequently, this research provides essential references and insights for advancing coating technology in the construction industry.

The perturbations of DNA methyltransferase 3 alpha (DNMT3A) may cause uncontrolled gene expression, resulting in cancers and tumors. The DNMT inhibitors Azacytidine (AZA) and Zebu-larine (ZEB) inhibit the DNMT family with no specificities and consequently would bring side effects during the treatment. Therefore, it is vital to understand their inhibitory mechanisms in DNMT3A to inform the new inhibitor design for DNMTs. Herein, we carried out molecular dynamics (MD) and quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) simulations to investigate the inhibitory mechanisms of AZA and ZEB. The results were compared to the methyl transfer of cytosine. We showed AZA might stop the methyl transfer process, whereas the ZEB might be stuck in a me-thyl-transferred intermediate (IM3). Such IM3 state then fails the elimination due to the unique protein dynamics that result in missing the catalytic water chain. Our results brought atomic-level insights into the mechanisms of the two drugs in DNMT3A, which could benefit the new generation of drug design for the DNMTs.

Adopting banana peel as raw material, the adsorption properties of banana peel hydrothermal carbon modified with KOH solution for lead ions in aqueous solution were studied. The surface structure and functional groups of the modified hydrothermal carbon were analyzed by XRD and SEM. The results showed that the banana peel hydrothermal carbon prepared from 0.5 mol/L KOH solution had large pores, and its adsorption capacity reached 42.92 mg/g at a pH value of 6; When the concentration of KOH solution is 0.5 mol/L, the solid liquid ratio is 2 g/L, the adsorption capacity reaches 21.39 mg/g, and the adsorption rate reaches 82.74%; When the concentration of lead solution increased to 100 mg/L, the adsorption capacity of modified hydrothermal carbon for lead ions decreased to 78.26%; The equilibrium adsorption time of lead ion in solution on phosphoric acid modified hydrothermal carbon from banana peel was 250 minutes, and the adsorption process met the quasi second order kinetic model and Freundlich isotherm equation, with an equilibrium adsorption rate of 88.62%. The adsorption of lead ions in solution by KOH modified hydrothermal carbon is mainly chemical physical adsorption.

The ankle is a complex joint with a high injury incidence. Rehabilitation Robotics applied to the ankle is a very active research field. We present cable-driven reconfigurable robot kinematics and statics. We studied how the tendons pull mid-foot bones around the talocrural and subtalar axes. Likewise, we propose a hybrid serial-parallel mechanism analogous to the ankle. Then, using screw theory, we synthesized a cable-driven robot with the human ankle in the closed-loop kinematics. We incorporate a draw-wire sensor to measure the axes’ pose and compute the product of exponentials. We reconfigure the cables to balance the tension and pressure forces using the axis projection on the base and platform planes. Likewise, we also computed the workspace to show that the reconfigurable design fits several sizes. The data used is from anthropometry and statistics. Finally, we validated the robot’s statics with MuJoCo for various cable length groups corresponding to the axes’ range of motion. We suggested a platform adjusting system and an alignment method. The design is lightweight, and the cable-driven robot has advantages over rigid parallel robots, such as Stewart platforms. We will use compliant actuators.

Semantic segmentation of remote sensing urban scene imagery is a pixel-wise prediction, which is applied to identify the land-cover or land-use category. However, semantic segmentation demands huge computation cost. In order to reduce the huge computation cost, a common method is to introduce transformer and CNN hybrid method to have a good trade-off between accuracy and computation cost. However, recent CNN-transformer hybrid methods often capture local-global context and cross-window interaction information simultaneously. Then they introduce the local-global context to fuse the local feature, which repeat fuse the local and global feature and result in the additional computation cost. And previous methods often ignore to filter the local and global feature. To fix the problem, we design a lightweight decoder-EDDformer, which is Efficient Global Value Transformer with Dynamic Gatefusion module. Efficient global value transformer only response for extracting global feature. Dynamic Gatefusion module filter the local and global semantic feature and fuse them to capture the local-global context in one time. Extensive experiments reveal that our method not only runs faster but also achieves higher accuracy compared with other state-of-the-art lightweight models.

A detailed analysis of the dehydrogenation mechanism and reversibility of LiBH₄ doped by active Al* derived from AlH₃ was performed by thermogravimetry (TG), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), mass spectral analysis (MS), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The results show that the dehydrogenation of LiBH₄/Al* is a five-step reaction: (1) LiBH₄ + Al → LiH + AlB₂ + “Li-Al-B-H” + B₂H₆ + H₂; (2) the decomposition of "Li-Al-B-H" compounds liberating H₂; (3) 2LiBH₄ + Al → 2LiH + AlB₂ + 3H₂; (4) LiBH₄ → LiH + B + 3/2H₂; (5) LiH + Al → LiAl + 1/2H₂. And the reversibility of LiBH₄/Al* composite is based on equation as follows: LiH + LiAl + AlB₂ + 7/2H₂ ↔ 2LiBH₄ + 2Al. The extent of dehydrogenation reaction between LiBH₄ and Al* greatly depends on the precipitation and growth of reaction products (LiH, AlB₂ and LiAl, etc.) on the surface of Al*. A passivation shell of Al* formed by these products is the kinetic barrier to the dehydrogenation of LiBH₄/Al* composite.

Calligraphy works have high artistic value, but there is a rampant problem of forgery. Indeed, authentication of traditional calligraphy heavily relies on calligraphers' subjective judgment. Therefore, spurred by the recent development of neural networks, this paper proposes a method for authenticating calligraphy works based on an improved EfficientNet network. Specifically, the developed method utilizes the character box algorithm and the centroid algorithm to extract individual calligraphy characters, which are then augmented and used as the training set for the model. The training process employs CBAM and Self-Attention modules to enhance the attention mechanism of the EfficientNet network. The model is tested on authentic works, imitated works, and works from other calligraphers and is compared with other networks. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method effectively achieves the authentication of calligraphy works, and the improved CBAM-EfficientNet network and SA-EfficientNet network achieve better authentication performance.

Hypsizygus marmoreus has become one of the most popular edible mushrooms due to its high nu-tritional and economic value. Previous researchers found that Serratia odorifera could promote the growth of H. marmoreus by producing and secreting some of its inducers. However, the specific mechanism of action was still unclear. In this study, we found that exogenous addition of sterile fermentation filtrate (HZSO-1), quorum sensing (QS signaling molecules, 3-oxo-C6-HSL, cy-clo(Pro-Leu), and cyclo(Tyr-Leu) could significantly promote the growth of H. marmoreus, increase the number of clamp junctions, and the diameter of mycelium (P < 0.05). In addition, non-targeted metabolomic analysis has revealed that 706 metabolites were detected in the treated group. Of these, 307 metabolites were significantly different (P < 0.05). Compared with the control, 54 and 86 metabolites were significantly increased and decreased in the HZSO-1 group, respec-tively (P < 0.05). We speculated that the sterile fermentation filtrate of S. odorifera could mediate the carbohydrate and amino acid metabolism of H. marmoreus by influencing the pentose phosphate pathway (PPP) to increase the energy supply for the growth and development of the mycelium. The above results will further reveal the growth-promoting mechanism of S. odorifera on H. mar-moreus.

The growing increase in infections caused by C. tropicalis, associated with its drug resistance and consequent high mortality, especially in immunosuppressed people, today generates a serious global public health problem. In the search for new potential drug candidates that can be used as treatments or adjuvants in the control of infections by these pathogenic yeasts, the objective of this research was to evaluate the action of isoespintanol (ISO) against the formation of biofilms fungal, the mitochondrial membrane potential (∆Ψm) and its effect on the integrity of the cell wall. We report the ability of ISO to inhibit the formation of biofilms by up to 89.35%, in all cases higher than the values expressed by amphotericin B (AFB). Flow cytometric experiments using rhodamine 123 (Rh123) showed the ability of ISO to cause mitochondrial dysfunction in these cells. Likewise, experiments using calcofluor white (CFW) and analyzed by flow cytometry, showed the ability of ISO to affect the integrity of the cell wall by stimulating chitin synthesis; these changes in the integrity of the wall were also observed through transmission electron microscopy (TEM). These mechanisms are involved in the antifungal action of this monoterpene.

Based on the nonlinear failure criterion and modified tangential technique, the upper bound solutions of supporting pressure on the deep tunnel face were obtained under pore water pressure conditions. The influence of parameters on the supporting pressure and collapse range was investigated according to the unlimited block failure mechanism. It is found that the upper bound solutions of supporting pressure increase with the growth of the nonlinear coefficient and pore water pressure coefficient. The collapse range of the tunnel face scales out with the increase of the nonlinear coefficient and shrinks when increasing the pore water pressure coefficient. Moreover, with the increase of the nonlinear coefficient, the impact strength on supporting pressure and collapse range declines gradually. According to the calculating results, it is manifest that both the pore water pressure and nonlinear criterion factors have negative impacts on the stability of the tunnel face. Thus, more attention should be paid to these parameters to ensure face stability in deep tunnel construction.

MoS2 has long been considered as a promising catalyst for hydrogen production. At present, there are many strategies to further improve its catalytic performance, such as edge engineering, defect engineering, phase engineering and so on. However, at present, there is still a great deal of controversy about the mechanism of MoS2 catalytic hydrogen production. For example, it is generally believed that the base plane of MoS2 is inert, but it has been reported that the inert base plane can undergo a transient phase transition in the catalytic process to play the catalytic role, which is contrary to the common understanding that the catalytic activity is only at the edge. Therefore, it is necessary to further understand the mechanism of MoS2 catalytic hydrogen production. In this article, we summarized the latest research progress on the catalytic hydrogen production of MoS2, which is of great significance for revisited the mechanism of MoS2 catalytic hydrogen production.

Cracks on concrete surfaces are vital factors affecting construction safety. Accurate and efficient crack detection can prevent safety accidents. Using drones to photograph cracks on a concrete surface and detect them through computer vision technology has the advantages of accurate target recognition, simple practical operation, and low cost. To solve this problem, an improved CenterNet concrete crack-detection model is proposed. First, a channel-space attention mechanism is added to the original model to enhance the ability of the convolution neural network to pay attention to the image. Second, a feature selection module is introduced to scale the feature map in the downsampling stage to a uniform size and combine it in the channel dimension. In the upsampling stage, the feature selection module adaptively selects the combined features and fuses them with the output features of the upsampling. Finally, the target size loss is optimised from a Smooth L1 Loss to IoU Loss to improve its inability to adapt to targets of different sizes. The experimental results show that the improved CenterNet model reduces the FPS by 123.7, increases the GPU memory by 62MB, increases the FLOPs by 3.81, and increases the AP by 0.154 compared with the original model. The GPU memory occupancy remained stable during the training process and exhibited good real-time performance and robustness.

Low-temperature plays a vital role in the growth and development of woody plants. In this research, based on the way of artificial low temperature to break dormancy, the Utah model was used to determine the chilling requirements of four early-flowering Prunus mume cultivars, which were widely planted in Henan area of China. At the same time, changes in the carbohydrates, antioxidant enzyme activities, and endogenous hormone contents of the flower buds (FBs) of the above P.mume cultivars were measured during the low-temperature storage process, and the physiological changes of the four cultivars during the low-temperature induction period were explored. The main research conclusions are as follows: (1) The chilling requirements of ‘Gulihong’, ‘Nanjing gongfen’, ‘Zaoyudie’ and ‘Zaohualve’ were 408CU, 396CU, 372CU and 348CU respectively. All the P.mume cultivars belonged to low chilling demand cultivars. The P.mume also bloomed 4 months earlier (2) During the process of releasing dormancy at low temperature, the contents of soluble sugar (SS) in the osmoregulation system of the four Prunus mume cultivars showed an upward trend, while the contents of starch (ST) basically showed an opposite trend with the increase of chilling. The superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity in the FBs of each cultivar gradually decreased with the accumulation of cold and maintained at a low level, the peroxidase (POD) activity showed the opposite trend, and the dynamic changes of the catalase (CAT) activity generally showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing. The content of abscisic acid (ABA) showed a trend of increasing first and then decreasing as a whole. The changing trend of gibberellin (GA3) content was similar to that of ABA. In addition, it was found that before dormancy was released, the SS and Pro contents of cultivars with lower chilling requirements and early FB germination were significantly higher than those of other cultivars with higher chilling requirements, and the contents of ST and SP were lower. The cultivars with higher chilling requirement and late flower bud germination had higher ABA content, lower GA3 contents, and their enzyme activities were significantly higher than those of the cultivars with lower chilling requirement. Therefore, the changes in the content of various substances in FBs are related to the amount of cooling required by the cultivar and the sooner or later the FBs germinate, and the changes in their contents can be used as one of the indicators for judging the dormancy process of FBs.

In this paper we will provide a new equation that explains why there are three generations or families of leptons and quarks, respectively. We will also explain why all those particles have the known mass ratios amongst their three respective generations and flavors. We will also tackle the problem of Yukawa couplings being arbitrary parameters in the Standard Model Higgs mechanism, which is a long standing problem do to their formulaic dependence on the Higgs Vacuum Expectation Value (VEV). We will attempt to solve this problem and provide a strong argument through an equation for Yukawa couplings of all leptons and quarks via a new methodology that depends on the running of the fine-structure constant on the Q scale, quantum numbers and the Weinberg angle (also on the Q scale). We will also make predictions for all three left-chiral neutrino mass eigenstates and we will provide upper limits for the three right-chiral neutrino mass eigenstates

Abstract：The brain often switches freely between focused attention and divergent thinking, and the default mode network (DMN) is activated during brain rest. The discovery, function and characteristics of default mode network all indicate that learning does not stop when the brain "rests". Mental disease can lead to dysfunctional default mode networks, which affects learning adversely. Therefore, default mode network plays an important role in learning. Neural activities such as β-wave rhythm regulation, "subconscious" divergence mode initiation, hippocampal function and neural replay occur during default mode, which also explain that "rest" promotes learning. This paper reveals the role and neural mechanism of default mode network in learning from the neural level, discusses the essential role default mode network plays in learning, and default mode network enables rest to promote learning.

Highly efficient, broadband and distinctively structured electromagnetic wave (EMW) absorption materials exhibit huge exceptions with multi-functions in both military and civilian fields. Searching the relationship between structural and EMW performance is beneficial to develop outstanding microwave absorption materials, and has become an attractive research topic. In this study, we briefly reviewed the different EMW absorption mechanisms and key influence factors, then, present the latest developments in low-dimensional (LD) EMW absorption materials. We provide a comprehensive discussion of remarkable examples and summarize the main information related to the structure-function relationship of dimensional design and structural engineering in order to facilitate the rapid evolution of this fascinating field.

In this work, nitrite intercalated CaAl-LDH was firstly prepared in this work. Scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) coupled with the energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) was used to characterize the morphology and element composition of the synthesized powder. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) was used to characterize the chemical composition and X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to analyze the structure. The nitrite release curve and the chloride concentration change curve were obtained to study the anion-exchange reaction. The corrosion protection effect of the CaAl-LDH loaded with nitrites towards the carbon steel was evaluated in 0.02 M NaCl solution by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Then the powder was added in the epoxy coating with a percentage of 2% (vs. epoxy resin). The coating morphology and roughness was evaluated by SEM and laser microscopy, and the corrosion protection effect was investigated by EIS in an immersion period of 21 d. Local electrochemical impedance spectra (LEIS) was used to characterize the corrosion development process in micro-corrosion sites. The corrosion product of the scratched area after salt spray exposure was analyzed by EDS and Raman spectroscopy. The corrosion protection mechanism of the CaAl-LDH loaded with nitrites was proposed based on the above experimental results.

Sphalerite has been recognized as the most important carrier of critical metal of Indium (In) due to that In mainly exists in the sphalerite lattice by isomorphic substitution. There are two significant replacing schemes for In entry into sphalerite, these are, Ag++In3+→2Zn2+ and Cu++In3+→2Zn2+. In order to understand the reaction process and constraints of the two substitution schemes, this paper uses first-principles methods to calculate In and Ag, Cu replacing Zn in sphalerite. According to the substitution schemes of Ag++In3+→2Zn2+ and Cu++In3+→2Zn2+, two doped sphalerite systems of Zn30InAgS32 and Zn30InCuS32 were constructed using 2×2×2 supercell model of sphalerite. Firstly, the pressure is controlled to 30MPa, and the temperature is set from 20-40MPa to simulate the response of the two doped sphalerite systems to temperature; Then, the control temperature was unchanged to 600K, and the pressure was set from 20-40MPa to investigate the pressure control of the two doped sphalerite systems. The lattice parameters, substitution energy, electronic structure, and population analysis of the designed models before and after replacement have been critically compared. The main conclusions can be drawn that it is more stable for In to enter sphalerite via the coupled substitution scheme Cu++In3+→2Zn2+, and the conditions that the two substitution schemes most likely to occur are 650K and 40MPa. This study not only reveals the physical and chemical properties of In-rich sphalerite formed by the two reaction processes of Ag++In3+→2Zn2+ and Cu++In3+→2Zn2+, but also has a certain enlightenment effect on the search for indium in sphalerite, and promotes the application of first principles in mineralization analysis.

In this study, methyl/tbutyl salicylate bearing zirconium complexes (C1-C8) were prepared by reaction of zirconium (IV) propoxide/butoxide with salicylic acid, 3-methylsalicylic acid, 4-methylsalicylic acid, and 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylic acid in alcohols, respectively. All these complexes (C1-C8) were characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, FTIR, mass spectroscopy (MS), elemental, and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA). These complexes were utilized as catalysts in ring opening polymerization (ROP) of ε-caprolactone and were very effective. Polycaprolactone (PCL) was characterized by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, and gel permeation chromatography (GPC). In this study, perhaps for the first time, the effects of electron donating substituents (Me and tBu) on ε-caprolactone polymerization reactions on salicylate ligands linked to zirconium atoms were investigated.

The human body is inhabited by unique microbial communities that protect and regulate the host against pathogens and inflammation. To address issues related to disrupted microbial composition, microbial transfer therapy (MTT) has emerged as a potential treatment option. The most popular form of MTT is fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), which has been successful in treating various diseases. Another emerging form of MTT is vaginal microbiota transplantation (VMT), transferring of the vaginal microbiota from a healthy female donor to a diseased patient's vaginal cavity, which aims to restore normal vaginal microbial composition. However, VMT is vastly unexplored due to safety concerns and lack of research. This paper explores the mechanisms involved in VMT's therapeutic effect and discusses future perspectives. Further research is needed to advance VMT's clinical applications and techniques.

Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) is an emerging therapeutic option for a variety of diseases, which is characterized as transferring fecal microorganisms from a healthy donor into the intestinal tract of a diseased receipt. In human clinics, FMT has been used for treating diseases for decades with promising results. In recent years, veterinary specialists adapted FMT in canine patients, however, compared to humans, canine FMT is more inclined to research purposes than practical applications in most cases due to safety concerns. Therefore, in order to facilitate the application of fecal transplant therapy in dogs, in this paper, we aimed to review recent application of FMT in canine clinical treatments as well as possible mechanisms that are involved in the process of therapeutic effect of FMT.

Polyglycerols (PGs) are biocompatible and highly functional polyols with a wide range of applications, such as emulsifiers, stabilizers, antimicrobial agents, in many industries including cosmetics, food, plastic and biomedical. The demand increase for biobased PGs encourages researchers to develop new catalytic systems for glycerol polymerization. This review focuses on alkaline homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts. The performances of the alkaline catalysts are compared in terms of conversion and selectivity, and their respective advantages and disadvantages are commented. While homogeneous catalysts exhibit a high catalytic activity, they cannot be recycled and reused, whereas solid catalysts can be partially recycled. The key issue for heterogenous catalytic systems, which is unsolved so far, is linked to their instability due to partial dissolution in the reaction medium. Further, this paper also reviews the proposed mechanisms of glycerol polymerization over alkaline-based catalysts and discuss the various operating conditions with an impact on the performances. More particularly, temperature and amount of catalyst proved to have a significant influence on glycerol conversion and on its polymerization extent.

Bufadienolides-like chemicals, which mostly composed the active ingredient of Chansu, had been widely discovered to possess anti-inflammatory, tumor-suppressing and antipain activity, but the mechanisms of action were not clearly illuminated. In this research, in order to explore the potential mechanism of bufadienolides-like chemicals on breast cancer, a serious of bioinformatics analysis, included (1) differentially expressed genes identification combined with gene set variation analysis, (2) tissue specific co-expression network construction, (3) differentially regulated sub-networks detection with disease phenome, (4) hub gene selection and it’s relation to survival probability, and (5) similar small molecule detection were performed with gene expression profiles of bufadienolides-like chemicals. Results indicated bufadienolides-like chemicals had the most same target with valproic, estradiol and etc, could disturbed the pathways in RNA splicing, apoptotic process, cell migration, extracellular matrix organization, adherens junction organization, synaptic transmission, Wnt signaling, AK-STAT signaling, BMP signaling pathway and unfolded protein response, and had the potential ability to be used as anticancer, hormones and vasoprotectives agents.

In some sour reservoirs and tertiary oil recovery blocks, SO₄^2- in solution can cause the corrosion and corrosion fatigue of the sucker rods. In this paper, the corrosion behaviors of super-strength sucker rod FG20 (16Mn2SiCrMoVTiA) steel in the well fluid are investigated by electrochemical measurements, and electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA) analysis. The results show that FG20 steel has a favorable corrosion resistance in neural solutions. When the hydrogen ion content increases, the hydrolysis of SO₄^2- greatly accelerates the corrosion of FG20 steel. The energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)results demonstrate that the corrosion process of FG20 steel in neural well liquid is an oxygen concentration process, and the protective FeCO₃ and Fe₂O₃ on the surface of the samples can prevent further corrosion. With the increase of the acidity in the well liquid, the corrosion process converts into a sulphide concentration process, and the sloppy FeS and mackinawite film cannot provide effective protection for the specimens, resulting in the increase of corrosion rate.

Different polyurethanes (PUs) were synthesized with polycarbonate polyols of molecular weights 500, 1000 and 2000 Da. Their self-healing abilities at 20 °C were tested and their structural, thermal, and mechanical properties were analyzed. The PUs made with polycarbonates of molecular weights 500 (YC500) and 1000 Da (YC1000) exhibited self-healing at 20 °C and the self-healing time of YC1000 was the shortest. The high mobility of the short polymeric chains, the absence of crystallinity and the low degree of micro-phase separation favored self-healing at 20 °C in YC500. However, the presence of tack and the existence of allophanate species and urethane-carbonate and urea-carbonate hydrogen bonds disfavored self-healing. Consequently, the self-healing time at 20 °C of YC500 was longer than expected. On the other hand, YC1000 exhibited an “equilibrium” between the urethane-carbonate and urea-carbonate hydrogen bonds and carbonate-carbonate interactions among the soft segments, so a particular structural order was produced which was associated to its fastest self-healing at 20 °C. The PU made with the polycarbonate of molecular weight 2000 Da did not exhibit self-healing at 20 °C because its significant micro-phase separation and the presence of semi-crystalline soft domains.

Retention mechanisms in HILIC have been investigated and reported in literature. However, the current understanding of the retention mechanisms is qualitative and lacks quantitative details. Previously, mechanism elucidation was based on indirect evidence, and unambiguous assignment of retention mechanisms has not been reported based on direct data. This study aims to quantitatively determine the contributions of two major retention mechanisms in HILIC, hydrophilic partitioning and surface adsorption to the overall retention of neutral compounds. Using the methodologies we developed previously, the phase ratio for adsorbed water layer and distribution coefficients were measured and used to calculate the retention factors attributed to hydrophilic partitioning. The methodology allows the determination of the contribution of surface adsorption simultaneously. The evaluation of five test compounds demonstrates that the retention may be controlled by hydrophilic partitioning, surface adsorption or both depending on compound characteristics. Quantitative assessment of retention mechanisms also makes it possible to better understand the effect of acetonitrile on retention in HILIC.

Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is one of the leading causes of end-stage renal disease worldwide and significantly increases the risk of premature death due to cardiovascular diseases. Elevated urinary albumin levels are an important clinical feature of DKD. Effective control of albuminuria not only delays glomerular filtration rate (GFR) decline but also markedly reduces cardiovascular disease risk and all-cause mortality. New drugs for treating DKD proteinuria, including sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i), mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs), and endothelin receptor antagonists (REAs), have shown significant efficacy. Auxiliary treatment with proprietary Chinese medicine has also yielded promising results; however, it also faces a broader scope for development. The mechanisms by which these drugs treat albuminuria in patients with DKD should be described more thoroughly. The positive effects of combination therapy with two or more drugs in reducing albuminuria and protecting the kidneys warrant further investigation. Therefore, this review explores the pathophysiological mechanism of albuminuria in patients with DKD, the value of clinical diagnosis and prognosis, new progress and mechanisms of treatment, and multidrug therapy in patients who have type 2 diabetic kidney disease (T2DKD), providing a new perspective on the clinical diagnosis and treatment of DKD.

This paper presents an extension of the results obtained in previous work concerning the application of global optimization techniques to the design of finite strategic games with mixed strategies. In that publication the Fuzzy ASA global optimization method was applied to many examples of synthesis of strategic games with one previously specified Nash equilibrium, evidencing its ability in finding payoff functions whose respective games present those equilibria, possibly among others. That is to say, it was shown it is possible to establish in advance a Nash equilibrium for a generic finite state strategic game and to compute payoff functions that will make it feasible to reach the chosen equilibrium, allowing players to converge to the desired profile, con- sidering that it is an equilibrium of the game as well. Going beyond this state of affairs, the present article shows that it is possible to ”impose” multiple Nash equilibria to finite strategic games by following the same reasoning as before, but with a fundamental change: using the same fundamental theorem of Richard McKelvey, modifying the originally prescribed objective function and globally minimizing it. The proposed method, in principle, is able to find payoff functions that result in games featuring an arbitrary number of Nash equilibria, paving the way to a substantial number of potential applications.

Crossostephium chinense is a wild species with strong salt tolerance, which has great potential to improve the salt tolerance of cultivated chrysanthemums. Conversely, the unique salt-tolerant molecular mechanisms of Cr. chinense are still unclear. This study performed a comparative physiological and transcriptome analysis of Cr. chinense, Chrysanthemum lavandulifolium and their hybrids. The physiological results showed that Cr. chinense maintained a higher superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, to alleviate the oxidative damage to membrane. KEGG enrichment analysis showed that the plant hormone signaling transduction and the MAPK signaling pathway were mostly enriched in Cr. chinense and hybrids under salt stress. Further weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) of DEGs suggested that the abscisic acid (ABA) signaling transduction may play a significant role in the salt-tolerant mechanisms of Cr. chinense and hybrids. The tissue-specific expression patterns of the candidate genes related to ABA signaling transduction and MAPK signaling pathway indicated that genes related to ABA signaling transduction performed significant expression levels under salt stress. This study provides a theoretical foundation for future research into the molecular mechanism of salt tolerance in chrysanthemums under salt stress.

The multi-material design and the adaptability of a modern process chain require joining connections with specifically adjustable mechanical, thermal, chemical or electrical properties, whereby previous considerations have focused primarily on the mechanical properties. With clinching, the multitude of possible combinations of requirements, materials and component or joint geometry makes it impossible to determine these joint properties empirically. As a result of the established and empirically based procedure, no model exists to date that considers all questions of joinability, i.e. the materials (suitability for joining), the design (joining safety) and the production (joining possibility) and allows a calculation of the achievable properties. It is therefore necessary to describe the physical properties of the joint as a function of the three bonding mechanisms force closure, form closure and material closure in relation to the application. This approach enables the illustration of the relationships along the causal chain "joint requirement - binding mechanism - joining parameters". In this way the adaptability of the mechanical joining technology can be improved. A geometric comparison is made using metallographic cross sections, of clinched joints of the combination of aluminum and steel. The torsional testing of the rotationally symmetric clinching points for detection of the mechanical stress state are qualified as examination method and technological test. By measuring the electrical resistance in the base material, in the clinch joint and during the production cycle (after clinching, before precipitation hardening and after precipitation hardening), this change in the stress state can also be detected.

With the evolution of toxic chemicals continuing to progress, developing methods for the destruction of chemical warfare agents (CWAs) has become an increasingly important research topic. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a class of porous crystalline solids that have sparked interest in this area. Due to their exceptional porosities and large surface areas, MOFs possess superior adsorption, reactivity, and catalytic abilities, making them structurally ideal candidates for the capture and decomposition of target species. Additionally, the tunable networks of MOFs allow their chemical functionalities to be customized for various applications and operating conditions, making them practicable in personal protective equipment and adjustable to dynamic environments. This paper reviews experimental and computational studies on CWA removal by MOFs, with a special emphasis on nerve agent (GB, GD, and VX) removal via hydrolysis and sulfur mustard (HD) removal via selective photooxidation. With extraordinary structural stability and reusability, zirconium-based MOFs are the most promising materials for hydrolytic and photooxidative degradation of CWAs and are thus the primary focus of this work. First-principles approximations of the intrinsic catalytic reaction mechanisms towards different agents in Zr-MOFs are summarized, and developments in the structure-property relationships governing Zr-MOF design rules for efficient degradation in the aqueous and solid phases are discussed. We also examine recent progress in tuning and functionalizing MOFs to promote practical CWA removal under realistic battlefield conditions.

Five-day exposure of clary sage (Salvia sclarea) to 100 μM cadmium (Cd) in hydroponics was sufficient to increase Cd concentrations significantly in roots and aboveground parts and affect negatively whole plant levels of calcium (Ca) and magnesium (Mg), since Cd competes for Ca channels, while reduced Mg concentrations are associated with increased Cd tolerance. Total zinc (Zn), copper (Cu), and iron (Fe) uptake increased but their translocation to the aboveground parts decreased possible due to translocation barriers. Despite the substantial levels of Cd in leaves, without any observed defects on chloroplast ultrastructure, an enhanced photosystem II (PSII) efficiency was observed, with a higher fraction of absorbed light energy to be directed to photochemistry (ΦPSΙΙ). The concomitant increase in the photoprotective mechanism of non-photochemical quenching of photosynthesis (NPQ) resulted in an important decrease in the dissipated non-regulated energy (ΦNO), modifying the homeostasis of reactive oxygen species (ROS), through a decreased singlet oxygen (1O2) formation. Thus, when clary sage was exposed to Cd for a short period, tolerance mechanisms were triggered, with PSII photochemistry to be regulated by NPQ in such a way that PSII efficiency to be enhanced. However, exposure to a combination of Cd and high light or for longer duration (8 days) to Cd alone, resulted in an inhibition of PSII functionality pointing out towards Cd toxicity. Thus, the rapid activation of PSII functionality at short time exposures and the inhibition at longer duration suggests a hormetic response and describes these effects in terms of “adaptive response” and “toxicity”, respectively.

Based on 2010, 2013 and 2015 CGSS data, the impact of Internet use and social capital on the income gap among farmers in the past five years is assessed at three time points using the OLS method and a quantile regression method. The study finds that (1) the income gap among farmers increases continuously in the five-year period, while Internet use plays a positive impact on farmers’ income growth in all five quartiles; the coefficient differences are all significantly negative, indicating that Internet use plays a positive role in alleviating the income gap between high-income and low-income farmer subgroups, and (2) social capital plays a positive role in moderating the income gap among farmers and that Internet use by farmers expands the boundary of social capital, which in turn increases the income level of and alleviates the income gap among farmers.

With the global increase of photovoltaic (PV) modules deployment in recent years, the need to explore and realize their reported failure mechanisms has become crucial. Despite PV modules being considered reliable devices, failures and extreme degradations often occur. Some degradations and failures can be minor and cause no critical harm if within the expected range. Others, may start mildly and then deteriorate faster to become catastrophic, especially in harsh environments. This paper conducts a state-of-the-art literature review to scan PV failures, types, and their root cause based on PV’s constructed components (from protective glass to junction-box). It outlines the hazardous consequences beyond PV module failures, describing what harm they can bring to the PV system. As we delve into the literature, it becomes clear that every component is vulnerable to certain types of failures; some can deteriorate within themselves, and others infect further PV components resulting in emerging more severe failures. In the end, the review briefly summarises PV failure detection techniques, emphasising electrical characterization techniques, and disclosing the need to engage more electrical parameters. Most importantly, this review can prepare the stage for the PV research community to identify the most prevalent degradation processes. This, in turn, encourages researchers to investigate them throughout modelling and experimental studies to forecast them at the early onset in order to protect the PV systems from hazardous malfunctions.

Photosynthetic function, photoprotection, and the response of related proteomics of mulberry (Morus alba L.) seedling leaves under NaCl and NaHCO3 stress with the same Na+ concentration (100 mmol•L-1) were studied by using photosynthetic gas exchange and chlorophyll fluorescence techniques combined with TMT proteomics. The results showed that NaCl stress had no significant effect on photosystem II (PSII) activity in mulberry seedling leaves, and the expressions of the related proteins, OEE3-1 and PPD4, of the PSII oxygen-evolving complex (OEC) and the antenna proteins, CP24 10A, CP26, and CP29, of LHCII in the leaves also increased to varying degrees. The photosystem I (PSI) activity in the leaves of mulberry seedling also increased, and the expressions of some proteins, PsaF, PsaG, PsaH, PsaL, PsaN, and Ycf4, in PSI increased significantly under NaCl stress. Under NaHCO3 stress, the activity of PSII and PSI and the expression of their protein complexes and the electron transfer-related proteins significantly decreased. NaCl stress had little effect on RuBP regeneration during dark reaction in the leaves and the expressions of glucose synthesis related proteins and net photosynthetic rate (Pn) did not decrease significantly. The leaves could adapt to NaCl stress by reducing stomatal conductance (Gs) to increase water use efficiency (WUE). Under NaHCO3 stress, the expression of dark reaction-related proteins was mostly down-regulated, and Gs was significantly reduced, which indicated that non-stomatal factors were important reasons for the significant inhibition of carbon assimilation. In the photoprotective mechanism under NaCl stress, the expression of cyclic electron flow (CEF) related proteins, ndhH, ndhI, ndhK, and ndhM, involved in NAD(P)H dehydrogenase (NDH) and the key enzyme of the xanthophyll cycle, violaxanthin de-epoxidase (VDE) were up-regulated. In addition, the ratio of xanthophyll cycle components (A+Z)/(V+A+Z) was increased. The expressions of proteins FTR and Fd-NiR, which are related to Fd-dependent ROS metabolism and nitrogen metabolism, were also significant up-regulated under NaCl stress, which can effectively reduce the electronic pressure on Fd. Under NaHCO3 stress, the expressions of CEF-related proteins, VDE, ZE, FTR, Fd-NiR, Fd-GOGAT, SGAT, and GGAT, were significant down-regulated, and the photoprotective mechanism, like the xanthophyll cycle, CEF, and photorespiration, might be damaged, resulting in the inhibition of PSII activity and carbon assimilation in leaves of mulberry seedling under NaHCO3 stress.

Ginkgolic acids (GA) have been reported to exhibit anticancer properties, however, the mechanisms remain unclear. This study aims to investigate the mechanisms of GA C13:0 that was isolated from Ginkgo biloba exocarp (GBE) for anti-proliferation, pro-apoptosis and anti-migration effects in human MCF-7 and mouse 4T-1 breast cancer cells. The cytotoxic effect, apoptosis induction and migration inhibition were measured using MTT, TUNEL and Wound healing assays. The expression of mRNA and protein were determined using qPCR and Western blot. Our results showed that no cytotoxicity was found at concentrations of C13:0 below 100µM. The effects of GA C13:0 was further demonstrated by up-regulation of the Bax/Bcl-2 apoptosis pathway and the expression of Apaf-1 protein in the mitochondria. In addition, GA C13:0 also suppressed cell migration and epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) with the increase of E-cadherin expression accompanied by the decrease of Snail, MMP-2, MMP-9 and Vimentin expression. Moreover, GA C13:0 induced cytochrome P450 (CYP) 1B1 expression in aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) pathway. Notably, the up-regulation of CYP1B1 also might play a pivotal regulatory role in mitochondrial and EMT pathways in MCF-7 and 4T-1 cells. Our results may have implications for the development of anticancer agents containing GA as functional additives.

Background:Boom in nanotechnology in current era has sketched unforeseen transformations in number of fields, such as medicine, health care, food, space, agriculture, etc. The synthesis of nanoparticles with different chemical compositions, sizes, shapes and controlled disparities is an important area of research in this field. Over the last decade, the biosynthesis of metal nanoparticles has received considerable attention due to their unusual and fascinating properties, with various applications, over their bulk counterparts.Hypothesis: The nanoparticle can have huge application in the field of food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries and thus become a major area of research. Green synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using plant extracts offers an eco-friendly and promising substitute to the conventional methods of chemical synthesis. Conclusion: In the arena of nanoparticle phytosynthesis, novel materials have been produced that are eco-friendly, cost-effective and stable. In the current situation, nanotechnology inspires progress in all spheres of life, and therefore the phytosynthetic path of nanoparticle synthesis has emerged as a safe and best alternative to conventional methods. This review summarizes the recent work in the field of zinc nanoparticle phytosynthesis and critically discusses the mechanism proposed behind it.

Considering that consumers are more willing to buy products online, companies are increasingly selling remanufactured products online through e-commerce platforms. Notwithstanding the high attention it elicits from researchers and companies, the study about the remanufacturing trading platform is in its infancy. Thus, we investigate 20 remanufacturing trading platforms related nowadays and make a gap analysis among them in terms of: (i) business model, (ii) product display, (iii) delivery products, (iv) quality assurance and after-sales service, (v) product review and star rate and (vi) transaction and payment. On this basis, we analyze features and trends for the development of remanufacturing trading platforms and propose six key applications aimed at filling the identified gaps. The consortium blockchain has the characteristics of security and transparency, high credibility, traceability and unfalsifiability, low cost, and strong scalability, which can provide effective support for the six key applications. Then, we construct the technical framework and the model of a consortium blockchain-supported remanufacturing trading platform. Further, we analyze the coupling mechanism between consortium blockchain and remanufacturing trading platform to explain how the remanufacturing trading platform supported by consortium blockchain achieves development characteristics. This study provides important guidance for the development, construction, and operation management of remanufacturing trading platforms.

Collapsibility is an inherent characteristic of loess, which is often treated by adding industrial materials such as cement and lime in engineering, it seriously damages the reclamation performance of soil. Degradable calcium lignosulfonate (CLS) has a good prospect in balancing soil stabilization and environmental protection. Therefore, this paper evaluates the collapsibility and mechanical characteristics of CLS improved loess based on the collapsibility test, grey correlation analysis, and unconfined compressive strength test. The results show that when the content is 3%, the stabilization effect is most obvious, and the collapsibility coefficient can be reduced by more than 95%. The order of grey correlation degree of collapsibility on each index is moisture content, void ratio, dry density, and CLS content from large to small. The unconfined compressive strength increases rapidly in the first 14 days and then decreases with the content. When the content is too high, the strength of improved loess is lower than that of plain loess. Combined with SEM, microstructure parameters, and X-ray diffraction analysis, the carbonate minerals can play the role of filling pores and connecting soil particles, which reduces the grain size of mineral composition and the thickness of the electric double layer and makes the structure more compact. The research results have scientific significance and application value for the ecological modification research and engineering application of soil.

Fifty-two kinds of N’-phenylhydrazides were successfully designed and synthesized. Their anti-fungal activity in vitro against five strains of C. alb. was evaluated. All prepared compounds owned varying degrees of activity and their MIC80, TAI, and TSI values were calculated. The in-hibitory activities of 27/52 compounds against fluconazole-resistant fungi C. alb. 4395 and C. alb. 5272 were much higher than those of fluconazole. The MIC80 values of 14/52 compounds against fluconazole-resistant fungus C. alb. 5122 were less than 4 μg/mL, so it was the most sensitive fungus (TSIB = 12.0). A11 showed the highest inhibitory activity against C. alb. SC5314, 4395, and 5272. The antifungal activities of B14 and D5 against four strains of fluconazole-resistant fungi were higher than those of fluconazole. The TAI values of A11 (2.71), B14 (2.13), and D5 (2.25) are the highest. Further exploring the antifungal mechanism revealed that the fungus treated with compound A11 produced free radicals and reactive oxygen species, and their mycelium mor-phology was damaged. In conclusion, the hydrazide scaffold showed potential in the develop-ment of antifungal lead compounds. Among them, A11, B14, and D5 demonstrated particularly promising antifungal activity and hold potential as novel antifungal agents.

The spectra of the plasma emitted from the studied samples consist of several dozens of narrow bands superimposed on each other. Tables of spectral lines were used to interpret the spectra. It turned out that the largest number of bands corresponds to the radiation of positively charged ions and atoms of elements that make up the crystal lattices of minerals that make up the studied rocks. Thus, the spectra of the plasma emitted from quartz corresponded to the radiation of atoms and positively charged silicon ions, the charge of which varied from 1 to 4, as well as atoms and positively charged oxygen ions, the charge of which varied from 1 to 3. Positively charged ions and atoms of Si, O, K, Ca, Al and Na, which are part of the crystal lattices of quartz and feldspar, flew out of granites. Positively charged ions and Ca, C and O atoms flew out of the calcite.

In 1974, Stephen Hawking made the groundbreaking discovery that black holes emit thermal radiation, characterized by a specific temperature now known as the Hawking temperature. While his original derivation is intricate, retrieving the exact expressions for black hole temperature and entropy in a simpler, more intuitive way without losing the core physical principles behind Hawking's assumptions is possible. This is obtained by employing the Heisenberg uncertainty principle which is known to be connected to the vacuum fluctuation. This exercise allows us to easily perform more complex calculations involving the effects of quantum gravity. This work aims to answer the following question: \textit{Is it possible to reconcile Prigogine's second law of thermodynamics for open systems and the second law of black hole dynamics with Hawking radiation}? Due to quantum gravity effects, the Heisenberg uncertainty principle has been extended to the Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) and successively to the Extended Uncertainty Principle (EUP). The expression for the EUP parameter is obtained by conjecturing that Prigogine's second law of thermodynamics and the second law of black holes are not violated by Hawking thermal radiation mechanism. The modified expression for the entropy of a Schwarzschild black hole is also derived.

The centrifugal force field in the hydrocyclone was affected by the concave-wall curvature radius R0, the mechanism of droplet deformation was closely related to the mass transfer efficiency. Numerical simulation and experimental data were collected to reveal the deformation characteristics and mechanism of single droplet crossing concave-wall jet. Normalized interfacial energy γ and stretching performance were provided to investigate the droplet deformation process. The results showed that the droplet was stretched along the streamwise and shrank along the spanwise in the concave-wall jet. The droplet interfacial energy and deformation were the largest when the droplet crossed the jet boundary at t = 0.20 s. Maximum γ value increased with the increase of R0 by 57.3% to 71.4%, and the distance between droplet and concave-wall increased with R0. Q-criterion was exported to show the vortex strength increasing as the decrease of R0 in the jet boundary. The pressure distribution inside the droplet showed that the pressure decreased as R0 increased, while the pressure difference increased along the streamwise and wall-normal direction. The study suggested that the droplet breakup was more difficult for the smaller R0, which was beneficial for liquid-liquid heterogeneous separation.

This study investigates the microstructures and deformation mechanism of hetero-structured pure titanium under different high strain rates (500 s-1，1000 s-1，2000 s-1). The influence of strain rate on the deformation mechanism is examined. As the strain rate increases, the dominance of dislocation slip decreases while deformation twinning becomes more prominent. Notably, at a strain rate of 2000s-1, nanoscale twin lamellae are activated within grain with a size of 500nm, which is a rarely observed phenomenon in pure Ti. Additionally, martensitic phase transformation is also identified. These findings can greatly enhance our understanding of the mechanical responses of Ti and broaden the potential applications of Ti in dynamic deformation scenarios.

Various designs of spherical robots using barycenter offset mechanisms were previously reported. This kind of robots offers advantages such as turning in placeor moving in any direction at any time. Yet, the approaches resulting in a balanced robot, which could roll with reduced energy costs once accelerated, are scarce. We introduce anovel robot of this type. The feasibility of the approach is verified on a cylindrical robot. This paper presents an open-source, remotely controlled, robotic cylinder. The robot uses a specifically designed mechanism to displace a mass in its center, which causes the cylinder to roll forwards or backwards. The movement characteristics of the cylinder, as well as the mathematical and physical limitations of the mechanism were studied. An intuitive user interface allows the robot to be controlled through WiFi. This robot was manufactured only with readily available and inexpensive materials, which would make it a suitable platform for education, typically in the fields of physics and engineering.

I have recently reiterated that the cross-bridge is a calcium ATPase that is inhibited by magnesium and this arises because in normal hearts Myosin binding Protein-C prevents the use of MgATP as rate limiting substrate ensuring that Ca²⁺ replaces Mg²⁺ in the excitation pathway. Here I revisit the studies on [Ca²⁺] dependency of ATPase and tension under diastolic stretch with a different conclusion on Hill coefficients. This reveals the underlying mechanisms of the Frank-Starling Law and Hypertrophic myopathy are not the same, the former being kinase controlled.

The multi-objective optimization design of hydraulic climbing mechanism (the core mechanism of gantry crane) was realized by using the method of combining central composite design (CCD), Kriging and multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA). Firstly, the hydraulic climbing mechanism model was established and the appropriate design variables were selected. The mass, maximum deformation and maximum equivalent stress of the hydraulic climbing mechanism was taken as the optimization objectives. Through the comparative analysis of the parameters of wedge block, anchor block, anchor plate、baffle, the parameters that have the greatest impact on the optimization objectives are selected as geometric constraints. Then, according to the results of experimental design, Kriging model was used to establish the response surface optimization model of objective function. Finally, the optimal results were obtained by using MOGA method. The experimental results show that the optimization strategy is reliable, and the mass of the optimized model is reduced by 10.28%. While meeting the actual production requirements, the lightweight design of the hydraulic climbing mechanism is realized, which saves the design cost and improves the material utilization rate.

In the industrial field, the 3D target detection algorithm PointPillars has gained popularity. Improving target detection accuracy while maintaining high efficiency has been a significant challenge. To address the issue of low target detection accuracy in the PointPillars 3D target detection algorithm, this paper proposes an algorithm based on feature enhancement to improve the backbone network. The algorithm enhances preliminary feature information of the Backbone network by modifying it based on PointPillars with the aid of channel attention and spatial attention mechanisms. To address the inefficiency caused by the excessive number of subsampled parameters in PointPillars, FasterNet (a lightweight and efficient feature extraction network) is utilized for downsampling and forming different scale feature maps. To prevent the loss and blurring of extracted features resulting from the use of inverse convolution, we utilize the lightweight and efficient up-sampling modules Carafe and Dysample for adjusting resolution. Experimental results indicate improved accuracy under all difficulties of the KITTI dataset, demonstrating the superiority of the algorithm over PointPillars.

The low and unstable performance is still one of the major obstacles for anaerobic digestion, which provokes researchers to develop some strategies to improve it. In addition to traditional approaches such as co-digestion, pretreatment, and recirculation, some emerging strategies, namely additive and microaeration have also been recognized and developed in recent years due to the update of knowledge. Many studies have evaluated the effect of those strategies on digestion performance. However, it lacks a unified analysis and induction, especially the mechanism for different strategies. Therefore, this review presents a comprehensive view of research progress on the strategies based on latest researches considering five main strategies. Critical think and summary of their mechanism, reactor performance, and availability of those strategies were executed. The results demonstrated that the contribution of microaeration is mainly to balance the composition and activity of hydrolysis, acidogenesis, and methanogenic archaea. Recirculation and co-digestion balance mass and reaction environments. Pretreatment makes the structure of the substrate (such as removing lignin, reducing cellulose crystallinity, and increasing the substrate-specific surface area) more conducive to microbial utilization. The mechanism of the additive strategy varies greatly depending on the type of additive, such as enhancing interspecies electrons transfer through conductive materials, resisting adverse digestion conditions through functional microbial additives, and accelerating nutrient absorption by regulating the bioavailability of trace elements. Although these strategies have different mechanisms for promoting digestion performance, their ultimate goal is to make the parameters of the reactor to an ideal status, and then to achieve a balance among substance, microorganisms and water in anaerobic reactor.

Drought is a long period of unusually low rainfall and can have serious effects on people's lives. It is caused by various factors such as climate change, deforestation, and the overuse of water re-sources. In the Somali region of Ethiopia, Kebri Dehar is the most at risk and most likely to have a drought. The lack of rainfall and high temperatures in Kebri Dehar have led to drought. Man-aging drought is the most challenging and complex problem. The purpose of this study is to as-sess household perception of drought hazards occurrence and adaptation. Additionally, the study aims to design a drought resilience mechanism matrix to mitigate its impact on the local commu-nity. This study used the Heckman two-stage model, which is useful in measuring drought per-ception as it accounts for potential selection bias and allows for the identification of factors that influence individuals' perceptions of drought. Gender, severity of drought, water shortage, tem-perature, drought frequency, and long dry season all have a positive effect on adaptation of resil-ience mechanisms to drought hazards, while food availability and rainfall have a negative effect. It is important for governments and individuals to act to mitigate the effects of the drought. Ef-forts to address the issue require a multi-participation approach that involves household, com-munity, and institutional level participation is needed for adopting drought resilience mecha-nisms.

In practical applications, the detection of objects with various sizes is a common requirement for most detectors. The feature pyramid network (FPN) is widely adopted as a framework to address this challenge. The field is witnessing an increasing number of transformer-based target detectors due to the widespread adoption of transformer technology. This paper initially examines the design flaws in FPN and transformer-based target detectors, followed by the introduction of a new transformer-based approach called Texturized Instance Guidance (TIG-DETR) to address these issues. Specifically, TIG-DETR comprises a backbone network, a new pyramidal structure known as Texture-Enhanced FPN (TE-FPN), and an enhanced DETR detector.The TE-FPN is composed of three components: a bottom-up pathway for enhancing texture information in the feature map, a lightweight attention module to address confounding effects resulting from cross-scale fusion, and a standard attention module to enhance the final output features.The improved DETR detector utilizes Shifted Window based Self-Attention to replace the multi-headed self-attention module in DETR, thereby accelerating model convergence. Moreover, it incorporates an Instance Based Advanced Guidance Module to enhance instance perception in the image by employing a pre-local self-attentive mechanism for recognizing larger instances. By employing TE-FPN instead of FPN in Faster RCNN with Resnet-50 as the backbone network, we achieve a 1.9% improvement in average accuracy. TIG-DETR achieves an average accuracy of 44.1 with Resnet-50 as the backbone network.

Biofilms are usually defined as surface-associated microbial communities, surrounded by an extracellular polymeric substance matrix. There are three major steps that are observed in biofilm formation: initial attachment events, microcolony formation and construction of mushroom-like structure with secretion of extracelluar polymeric substances. These substances can be considered a mechanism to protect the bacterial community from external insults.Biofilms, significantly increase the ability of the pathogen to evade both host defenses and antibiotics and they are being implicated in the pathogenesis and also clinical manifestation of several infections. They cause a variety of persistent infections, such as native valve endocarditis, osteomyelitis, dental caries, middle ear infections, ocular implant infections, urinary tract infections and cystic fibrosis. Established biofilms can tolerate antimicrobial agents at concentrations of 10–1000-times that needed to kill genetically equivalent planktonic bacteria, and are also resistant to phagocytosis, making biofilms extremely difficult to eradicate from living hosts. Consequently, biofilm-related infections that appear to respond to a therapeutic course of antibiotics may relapse weeks or even months later, making surgical removal and replacement of the infected tissue or medical device a frequent and unfortunate necessity.Several pathogens associated with chronic infections, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa in cystic fibrosis pneumonia, Haemophilus influenzae and Streptococcus pneumoniae in chronic otitis media and Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli in recurrent urinary tract infections, are linked to biofilm formation.

Significance: Electrophile signaling is coming into focus as a bona fide cell signaling mechanism. The electrophilic regulation occurs typically through a sensing event (i.e., labeling of a protein) and a signaling event (the labeling event having an effect of the proteins activity, association, etc.). Recent advances: Herein, we focus on the first step of this process, electrophile sensing. Electrophile sensing is typically a deceptively simple reaction between the thiol of a protein-cysteine, of which there are around 200,000 in the human proteome, and a Michael acceptor, of which there are numerous flavors, including enals and enones. Recent data overall paint a picture that despite being a simple chemical reaction, electrophile sensing is a discerning process, showing labeling preferences that are often not in line with reactivity of the electrophile. Critical issues: With a view to trying to decide what brings about highly electrophile-reactive protein-cysteines, and how reactive these sensors may be, we discuss aspects of the thermodynamics and kinetics of covalent/non-covalent binding. Data made available by several laboratories indicate that it is likely that specific proteins exhibit highly stereo- and chemoselective electrophile sensing, which we take as good evidence for recognition between the electrophile and the protein prior to forming a covalent bond. Future directions: We propose experiments that could help us gain a better and more quantitative understanding of the mechanisms through which sensing comes about. One of the most broadly used models for membrane fouling is the Hermia model, which separates this phenomenon into four blocking mechanisms, each with an associated parameter n. These mechanisms are complete blocking (n=2), intermediate blocking (n=1), standard blocking (n=3/2), and cake formation (n=3/2). The original model, which was obtained through experimental data, is given by an Ordinary Differential Equation (ODE) dependent on n. At the time, this ODE was only solved for these four values of n, which limits the effectiveness of the model when adjusted to experimental data. This paper aims to not only mathematically prove the original Hermia model but also to broaden the scope of this model for any real number n by using the original ODE, the equations of fluid mechanics, and the properties of single and multivariable calculus. The extended Hermia model (EHM) is given by a power law for any n≠2 and is given by an exponential function at n=2. To better test the model, we have performed the model fitting of the EHM and compared its performance to the original four pore-blocking mechanisms in 6 micro- and ultrafiltration examples. In all examples, the EHM performed consistently better than the four original pore-blocking mechanisms. Changes in the blocking mechanisms concerning transmembrane pressure (TMP), crossflow rate (CFR), crossflow velocity (CFV), membrane composition, and pretreatments are also discussed.

Dye wastewater containing bisphenol A (BPA) and dyes as pollutants have not been adequately studied. Our previous study revealed that thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) nanofiber membranes (NFMs) modified by the addition of polyethyleneimine (PEI) and polydopamine (PDA) satisfactorily adsorb dyes. Herein, we first optimized the synthesis conditions for such membranes, noting a PEI:PDA monomer ratio of 2:2 and a deposition time of 48 h to be optimal. Experiments using these membranes revealed that binary systems containing BPA and the dyes (Congo red (CR), Eosin yellow (EY), or sunset yellow (SY)) exhibit three adsorption behaviors. CR and BPA compete with each other for adsorption sites, decreasing the maximum adsorption capacity (Qmax) for CR 208.3 mg/g (in a monomeric system) to 182.4 mg/g, whereas for BPA, it decreased from 26.7 to 22.8 mg/g. The adsorption rates for CR and BPA decreased from 0.002 min−1 and 0.331 min−1 in the monomeric systems to 8.37 × 10−4 min−1 and 0.072 min−1, respectively, in the binary CR–BPA system, exhibiting antagonistic effects. When EY and BPA coexist, Qmax for EY increased from 60.0 (monomeric) to 71.9 mg/g, whereas that for BPA increased from 35.6 to 43.2 mg/g, showing a synergistic effect due to the possible bridging effect. The adsorption sites for SY and BPA are independent of each other. Thus, PDA/PEI TPU NFMs exhibit the potential for removal of dye–BPA composites, whereas binary systems containing BPA with different dyes are adsorbed differently.

Controlling and understanding Cu-catalyzed homocoupling reaction is crucial to prompt the development of efficient Cu-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. The presence of a coordinating base (hydroxide, methoxide) enables the B-to-Cu(II) transmetalation from aryl boronic acid to CuIICl2 in methanol, through formation of a mixed Cu-(μ-OH)-B intermediates. A second B-to-Cu transmetalation to form bis-aryl Cu(II) complexes is disfavored. Instead, organocopper(II) dimers undergo a coupled transmetalation-electron-transfer (TET) allowing the formation of a bis-organocopper(III) complexes readily promoting reductive elimination. Based on this mechanism some guidelines are suggested to control the undesired formation of homocoupling product in Cu-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions.

Based on the theory of behavioral economics, this study deeply analyzes the principles of behavioral economics involved in the development of mass sports, including psychological expectation, selection deviation and incentive mechanism, rationalize the current situation of group sports development, discusses how to effectively promote the development of mass sports, and puts forward a series of concrete countermeasures. In view of the problem of behavioral expectations, it is suggested to establish a comprehensive publicity and education system to improve the public's awareness and understanding of sports, and to stimulate individuals' active participation through self-setting goals and planning methods. In view of the selection bias, it is suggested that the government and relevant institutions provide diversified and attractive sports activity options, and make full use of technological means to increase the visibility and participation of activities.In addition, in view of the incentive mechanism problem, it is advocated to adopt differentiated incentive measures to meet the needs of different groups. The government can provide some preferential policies and establish incentive mechanisms to provide support for the organization of mass sports activities. It is expected that this research can stimulate the enthusiasm of the masses to participate in sports and promote the healthy development of mass sports.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the failure mechanism and preventive strengthening methods of prefabricated full length small box girder (PSBG) under car explosion. After damage analysis during blast loads using the commercial software Autodyn, three strengthening methods are presented to improve the blast mitigation performance. The results show that the failure modes and bearing capacity are significantly different with various strengthening measures. Adhering U-shaped steel plate can effectively enhance the shear performance of PSBG under blast loads. Strengthening the bottom of the upper flange of box girder with steel plate can effectively mitigate the local bending failure, and enhance the overall flexural capacity during car explosion.

Over the last decade, there has been a growing interest in the use of a wide range of phytoadditives to counteract the harmful effects of heat stress in poultry. Willow (Salix spp.) is a tree with a long history. Among various forms, willow bark is an important natural source of salicin, β-O-glucoside of saligenin, but also of polyphenols (flavonoids and condensed tannins) with antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory activity. In light of this, the current review presents some literature data aiming to: (1) describe the relationship between heat stress and oxidative stress in broilers, (2) present or summarize literature data on the chemical composition of Salix species, (3) summarize the mechanisms of action of willow bark in heat-stressed broilers, (4) present different biological effects of the extract of Salix species in different experimental models.
