X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy, temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) and temperature-programmed hydride decomposition (TPHD) were employed to elucidate the structures of a series of PdRe/Al2O3 bimetallic catalysts for selective hydrogenation of furfural. TPR evidenced low-temperature Re reduction in the bimetallic catalysts consistent with migration of [ReO4]- (perrhenate) species to hydrogen-covered Pd nanoparticles on highly hydroxylated  Al2O3. TPHD revealed strong suppression of β-PdHx formation in the reduced catalysts prepared by (i) co-impregnation and (ii) [HReO4] impregnation of reduced Pd/Al2O3 indicating formation of Pd-rich alloy nanoparticles; however, reduced catalysts prepared by (iii) [Pd(NH3)4]2+ impregnation of calcined Re/Al2O3 and subsequent re-calcination did not. Re LIII X-ray absorption edge shifts were used to determine average Re oxidation states after reduction at 400°C. XAFS spectroscopy and high-angle annular dark field (HAADF)-scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) revealed that a reduced 5 wt.% Re/Al2O3 catalyst contained small Re clusters and nanoparticles comprising Re atoms in low positive oxidation states (~1.5+) and incompletely reduced Re species (primarily Re4+). XAFS spectroscopy of the bimetallic catalysts evidenced Pd-Re bonding consistent with Pd-rich alloy formation. Pd and Re total first-shell coordination numbers suggest that either Re is segregated to the surface (and Pd to the core) of alloy nanoparticles and/or segregated Pd nanoparticles are larger than Re nanoparticles (or clusters). The Cowley short-range order parameters are strongly positive indicating a high degree of heterogeneity (clustering or segregation of metal atoms) in these bimetallic catalysts. Catalysts prepared using the Pd(NH3)4[ReO4]2 double complex salt (DCS) exhibit greater Pd-Re intermixing but remain heterogeneous on the atomic scale.

The aim of the current study has been to assess externalizing problems from a gender perspective in the juvenile population. This objective has been evaluated though the Child and Adolescent Assessment System questionnaire (SENA), to measure the dimension of externalized problems. A total of 128 Spanish students took part in the survey, comprising 58 (45.3%) male and 67 (52.3%) female, aged between 12 and 16 years old (M= 13,7; Sd= 1,14). The sample was taken from three High- Schools (state and private-subsidized) in Madrid, Spain. The research for this study was conducted through a descriptive, inferential, quantitative, ex post facto design. The data analysis was performed using SPSS 27.0. The result revealed an increase in externalized problems: Attention (M= 2.65, Sd=.88), Anger Control (M= 2.27, Sd=.85) and Hyperactivity- Impulsivity (M= 2.26, Sd=.68). In addition, female students score highly in Attention Problems (F= 4.124; Sig.: .004), Hyperactivity-Impulsivity (F: 6.18; Sig.: <.001), and Anger Control (F: 2.3; Sig.: .062). This study highlights the impact and increase on students externalized mental health problems currently. It is essential to have a protective environment and promote the development of emotional intelligence, encouraging the mental health in young people. This article is part of the findings of the research project “Therapeutic Innovation Classroom for the accompaniment of teenager with Serious Mental Disorder” (Reference: 2021V/EU-UNED/02).

Recent technological advancements in conservation genetics and genomics have resulted in diverse tools for aiding conservation of species. The precision and resolution of high throughput sequencing technologies provide valuable insights to aid conservation decisions, but these technologies are often financially unfeasible or unavailable in resource constrained countries. Inter-Simple Sequence Repeat (ISSR) markers, when combined with sensitive automated detection systems, provide a simple, cheap means to investigate genetic diversity and discriminate closely related species. Here we apply this technology to assess genetic diversity and taxonomic delimitation in the Encephalartos eugene-maraisii species complex, a highly threatened, taxonomically dubious group of cycads in South Africa. Our analyses support taxonomic singularity of E. dyerianus, E. dolomiticus and E. eugene-maraisii. Relationships between E. nubimontanus and E. cupidus remain uncertain. E. middelburgensis samples showed no clustering but had poor amplification success. This study demonstrates the suitability of automated ISSR fingerprinting as a method for plant conservation studies, especially in resource-constrained countries, and we make recommendations as to how this methodology can be effectively implemented.

The importance of Muscovy ducks in industrial poultry production is growing; however, little is known about the physiology of their reproductive cycles. This study investigated the influence of male biostimulation on female ducks before the commencement of the laying phase. A total of 15 female Muscovites were kept in contact with a male duck until the point of laying, while 15 other females were kept without any contact with a male conspecific. Before reaching egg-laying maturity, the cloacae of 29 adult ducks were subjected to daily clinical assessments. The evaluations yielded four unique categories of outcomes, determined by assessing factors such as the degree of redness and protrusion of the mucous membrane, moisture level, and swelling of the cloacal sphincter muscle. In terms of biostimulation, the findings demonstrated that, on average, ducks in contact with males laid the first egg 16 days earlier than isolated ducks. Furthermore, there was no significant difference observed in the mean initial egg weight between both groups (p = 0.841). The changes in the cloacal morphology indicated significant morphological changes 25–26 days before laying. Efforts to improve Muscovy production and develop biotechnological techniques to modify the reproductive cycle will benefit from these advancements.

Delivering effective messages is critical to creating a more sustainable and resilient culture. The explosion of social media has enhanced information access but has often reinforced and polar-ized pre-existing viewpoints and norms. In contrast, digital signs are an “in your face in your space” technology that has the potential to deliver common content to a diverse local audience. Environmental Dashboard (ED) is a communications platform and set of content applications that combines information on current environmental conditions, real-time resource consumption, positive actions being taken by community members, and a community calendar. We conducted a longitudinal study to assess whether ED content delivered via digital signs in public locations would result in desirable psychological changes within a community. Participants completed surveys in six designated signage locations prior to installation (N = 174) and following two years of continuous exposure (N = 133). We observed: increases in pro-environmental social norms among people of color (a demographic emphasized); enhanced awareness of and sense of connection with the local community and ecology; increased self-reported electricity conservation; and increased perception of youth engagement (another demographic emphasized). Changes were mediated by exposure to digital signage. These findings support the hypothesis that content delivered through digital signs can strengthen pro-environmental and pro-social culture within communities.

The spread of micro- (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) in the environment has become a significant environmental concern, necessitating effective removal strategies. In this comprehensive scientific review, we examine the use of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as a promising technology for the removal of MPs and NPs from water. We first describe the issue of MPs and NPs and their impact on the environment and human health. Then the fundamental principles of using MNPs for the removal of these pollutants will be presented, emphasizing that MNPs enable selective binding and separation of MPs and NPs from water sources. Furthermore, we provide a short summary of various types of MNPs that have proven effective in the removal of MPs and NPs. These include ferromagnetic nanoparticles, MNPs coated with organic polymers, as well as nanocomposites and magnetic nanostructures. We also review their properties, such as magnetic saturation, size, shape, surface functionalization and stability, and their influence on removal efficiency. Next, we describe different methods of utilizing MNPs for the removal of MPs and NPs. We discuss their advantages, limitations, and potential for further development in detail. In the final part of the review, we provide an overview of existing studies and results demonstrating the effectiveness of using MNPs for the removal of MPs and NPs from water. We also address challenges that need to be overcome, such as nanoparticle optimization, process scalability, and the removal and recycling of nanoparticles after the completion of the process. This comprehensive scientific review offers an extensive insight into the use of MNPs for the removal of MPs and NPs from water. With improved understanding and the development of advanced materials and methods, this technology can play a crucial role in addressing the issue of MPs and NPs and preserving a clean and healthy environment.

Carpels are a reproductive feature restricted to angiosperms, therefore they are a focus of many botanical studies. However, there are controversies over the nature of carpels. A reason underly-ing these controversies is mixing implications given by conflicting interpretations on fossil carpels in early fossil angiosperms from the Cretaceous. These controversies hinder a clear understanding of angiosperm evolution and systematics. A key to these questions is older fossil fruits bearing concerned information. Here we report a new fossil fruit, Xenofructus dabuensis gen. et sp. nov, from the Middle Jurassic of Liaoning, China. Unlike previously reported fruits of early angio-sperms that were interpreted as bearing seeds either on adaxial or abaxial margin by various au-thors, our fossil demonstrates clearly that the seeds in Xenofructus are neither borne on the adaxial nor abaxial margin of the fruit, instead the seeds of Xenofructus are borne on an axis positioned between two margins. This new feature implies that a placenta in carpels is an ovule/seed-bearing axis, a carpel is a composite organ comprising an enclosing leaf (fruit wall) and an axis (placenta). The adaxial or abaxial position of ovules/seeds frequently seen in fossil and extant angiosperms is a consequence derived through long time evolution (coalescence of placenta with either margin of fruits). Carpels can be taken as foliar structures enclosing their associated ovulate branches.

In this paper, a seamless connection between sensor technology and machine learning (ML) has been presented which has wide applicability in rehabilitation and physical medicine. The intent is to identify an ML algorithm which has a better performance, easy to deploy, and has less training time and consumes less computational resources. In short, we propose an algorithm which maximizes the synergy between a sensor and ML by maximizing classification performance and easy to do implementation, which is robust in computational power and lower in resource consumption. The premise of the work is to show the important considerations for evaluating ML algorithms for Upper-limb activity recognition for Physical medicine and rehabilitation field.

The process of developing therapies to treat rare diseases is fraught with financial, regulatory, and logistical challenges that have limited our ability to build effective treatments. Recently, a novel type of therapy called antisense therapy has shown immense potential for the treatment of rare diseases, particularly through single-patient N-of-1 trials. Several N-of-1 antisense therapies have been developed recently for rare diseases, including the landmark study of milasen. In response to the success of N-of-1 antisense therapy, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has developed unique guidelines specifically for the development of antisense therapy to treat N-of-1 rare diseases. This policy change establishes a strong foundation for future therapy development, and addresses some of the major limitations that previously hindered the development of therapies for rare diseases.

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) is an emerging transistor-less field-coupled nanocomputing (FCN) approach to ultra-scale ‘nanochip’ integration. In QCA, to represent digital circuitry, electrostatic repulsion between electrons and the mechanism of electron tunnelling in quantum dots are used. QCA technology can surpass conventional complementary metal-oxide semiconductor (CMOS) technology in terms of clock speed, reduced occupied chip area, and energy efficiency. To develop QCA circuits, irreversible majority gates are typically used as the primary components. Recently, some studies have introduced reversible design techniques, using reversible majority gates as the main building block, to develop ultra-energy efficient QCA circuits. However, this approach resulted in time delays, an increase in the number of QCA cells used, and an increase in the chip area occupied. This work introduces a novel hybrid design strategy employing QCA irreversible, reversible, and partially reversible gates to establish an optimal balance between power consumption, delay time, and occupied area. The hybrid technique allows the designer to have more control over the circuit characteristics to meet different system needs. A combination of reversible, irreversible, and innovative partially reversible majority gates is used in the proposed hybrid design method. We have evaluated the hybrid design method by examining the half-adder circuit as a case study. We have developed four hybrid QCA half-adder circuits, each of which simultaneously incorporates various types of majority gates. The QCADesigner-E 2.2 simulation tool was used to simulate the performance and energy efficiency of the half-adders. This tool provides numerical results for the circuit input/output response and heat dissipation at the physical level, within a microscopic quantum mechanical model.

In bacteria, enzymes usually comprise of enzymatic domains only. In eukaryotes/mammals, and here particularly in context of signal transduction, proteins with enzymatic functions contain additional modules promoting interactions with cooperating signaling proteins. Often such protein-protein interaction domains, such as SH2- and SH3-domains, help to localize the enzymatic function (e.g. kinase, phosphatase) to another protein, cellular compartment, or membrane nanodomain. In such cases, the interaction domain(s) serve(s) the enzymatic function. However, there are molecular situations in which an interaction domain fulfills its task completely independent of the protein´s enzymatic function and in this review, we call such function the adapter function of an enzyme. Though many stories can be told, we will concentrate on several proteins playing crucial roles in cells of the immune system, such as BTK, PI3K, and SHIP1, as well as in cancer cells, such as proteins of the RAS/ERK MAPK pathway. We will also discuss how these adaptor functions of enzymes determine or even undermine the efficacy of targeted therapy compounds, such as ATP-competitive kinase inhibitors, thereby highlighting the need to develop pharmacological approaches, such as PROTACs, that eliminate the entire protein. We also review how genetic kock-out and knock-in approaches can be leveraged to identify adaptor functions of signaling proteins.

The fractional advection-dispersion equation FADE plays an important role, especially in explaining the process of solute-transport in natural porous media with different degrees of heterogeneity. However, studies of the flow and transport of contaminants in the underground environment are based on the knowledge of many functional parameters of the subsoil. The delay factor caused by nonlinear absorption is one of these parameters inheriting significant ambiguities in its estimation in heterogeneous media. In the study, a fractional advection-dispersion FADE model was developed by the implicit Euler method, based on a Grunwald and Caputo-Liousville approximation to explicitly evaluate and simulate the transport mechanism of contaminants in media with unsaturated porous materials subjected to a nonlinear sorption model. Better solute mass retention was observed for fractional advection-dispersion FADE model. Moreover, the absorption parameter of the retardation coefficient has a better impact on the motion of the solute in a saturated porous medium. In other words, it has a significant effect on the dispersion of pollutants in aquifers. This study highlights the need to characterize the aquifer to predict solute transport in porous media.

Previous studies separately addressed the impact of urban expansion on vegetation cover and thermal conditions, as well as its effect on moisture and drought indicators, using geospatial techniques. Some studies, such as those by Malah et al. (2021) and Niu and Li (2020), focused on assessing urban environmental quality using an environmental quality index without considering urban expansion. Meanwhile, other studies, like those conducted by Indrawati et al. (2020), primarily focused on evaluating urban environ-ments using an integrated environmental index consisting of four indicators (greenness, moisture, drought, and cumulative clustering). The study by Zhu et al. (2019) applied the same integrated environmental index (IEI) and, by comparing it with temperature, re-vealed a negative correlation illustrating the effects of the environmental index on land surface temperature (LST). These two studies could be utilized to construct an index assessing the environmental condition in Riyadh. This is the case in the present study, where the addition of a temperature indicator due to the hot desert nature of the study area created the Urban Environmental Thermal Index to evaluate the urban en-vironment and provide results suitable to this region. It is expected that the present study will align with the findings of previous relevant studies, showing a negative im-pact of urban expansion on urban environmental components.

Diet-related diseases impact populations across the globe. While intertemporal preferences—a fundamental preference for the distribution of benefits across time—have been used to explain low-quality food choices, recent literature proposes another cause: inattention to future implications (or opportunity costs) of the options faced. Food choices tend to become habitual to conserve cognitive resources, rather than carefully modeling future health impacts. Both low discount rates for future benefits and attention to future health impacts predict healthier decisions. While intertemporal preferences are stable, attention may provide an opportunity to intervene in the decision process to promote healthier decisions. In this study, we test the impact of a simple message that highlights health during food choice on the healthiness of foods chosen and on health consideration and intertemporal preferences. Our results show that actively considering health outcomes and lower discount rates lead to healthier food choices. We find that messaging increases the consideration of health outcomes during food choice but does not affect intertemporal preferences, suggesting that simple prompts may be an effective way to promote decisions balancing short and long-term benefits by drawing attention to overlooked opportunity costs of choices.

For the first time, the effect of a significant change in the resistance of the aquatic environment of a population of protozoan microorganisms under the influence of radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation from cell phones has been experimentally studied. The results of the experiment demonstrate the biological nature of the changes occurring in the “water population of protozoa” system, which indicates that the impact of radiation directly affects the cell. This conclusion is confirmed by the same order of magnitude time of information exchange between individual individuals of the population in the calculation and in the experiment. An extremely low concentration of protozoa in the experiment was established, equal to 1000 pcs./liter, at which the indicated effect is observed.An unambiguous dependence of the biological effect in the “water – amoeba population” system on the average power of electromagnetic radiation of cell phones, both in standby mode and in talk mode, has been established. It is concluded that the presented method of changing the physical properties of the aquatic environment of a population of protozoa under the influence of electromagnetic fields can be a model experiment in identifying the mechanisms of interaction of biological systems with electromagnetic radiation, determining the response time of biological systems to external electromagnetic influence, and establishing the degree of influence of radiation in the 4G, 5G ranges.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder that affects women of reproductive age representing the primary cause of anovulatory infertility. The nonapeptide oxytocin (OT) plays an important role in cognitive, emotional, and reproductive functions in human beings. Oxytocin receptors are expressed in several body parts including the ovaries. Despite this, the possible role played by oxytocin in symptoms of PCOS is not clear. The present systematic review aimed at understanding, the presence of possible oxytocin level alterations in PCOS, the connection between alterations of OT levels and the symptoms of PCOS, and the effect of oxytocin administration in PCOS. After a systematic search in the principal databases, seven studies, five human and two animal, were included. Most of the studies highlighted the role played by oxytocin in fertility issues related to PCOS. Studies that analyzed oxytocin basal levels in PCOS women agreed that PCOS is associated with a reduction in the serum level of oxytocin. Two studies found that in PCOS the serum levels of oxytocin were lower than healthy controls. One human and one animal study agreed about lower levels of PCOS, confirming a possible implication of a dysfunction of OT, in the pathogenesis of PCOS.

Today's city needs more than ever methodological devices that ensure a specific urbanism, in keeping with the complexity of relationships that occur in the urban space. Networks or systems of diverse nature must be activated to achieve a certain success of the city, even more so in its fragile central fabrics. The study is focused on the historic neighborhoods of the city of Jaén (Spain), which have a high vulnerability index. The aim is to establish a strategy to revitalize their urban and social capital and improve their articulation with the rest of the urban and territorial structure. A methodological proposal for the analysis of vulnerability factors and an urban and cartographic analysis of the public space is addressed through an interweaving of a triple network: environmental, social, and urban. For this purpose, the configuration of this overlapping network of analysis and formulation of criteria is presented, which considers the urban multiplicity and promotes new dynamics for the integrated urban regeneration of the area and for the activation of public and collective urban spaces.

Vaccines decrease morbidity and mortality. Nevertheless, their benefits depend on public response. During COVID-19, vaccine hesitancy and refusal were rampant, threatening public health. A thorough understand-ing of opponents' arguments is required to address the diffusion of unreliable information on social media and prevent vaccine hesitancy from developing into vaccine refusal. Accordingly, the article examines vac-cine opponents' justifications on social media. Textual content analysis of reader comments on three health-related Israeli Facebook pages was conducted. Data collection encompassed the Israeli COVID-19 vaccination period from October 2020 to May 2022. The comments were analyzed according to the health beliefs model (HBM). We found that vaccine opponents were characterized by low perceptions of the severity of the disease combined with high perceptions of the damages of the vaccine; low perceived benefits of vac-cine compliance; vaccine hesitancy and fear along with public distrust as barriers to change; and call for ac-tion to resist the vaccine and spread related anti-establishment views on the web. As vaccination hesitancy was found to develop into public distrust in the state systems and escalate into conspiracy beliefs and an-ti-vaccination activism, its early detection may prevent future vaccine resistance.

The main inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain is 4-aminobutyric acid (GABA). Phthalimide acts as a sodium channel antagonist, one of the finest targets for treating epilepsy is the sodium channel and JNK kinase activity is inhibited to treat epilepsy. a novel compound with multiple targets of action for the treatment of epilepsy also anti-oxidant activity has been designed. The compounds are designed in two series aldehydes and aniline. Docking of all the designed compounds has been done with the suitable protein GABA-AT, sodium channel, JNK protein, and anti-oxidant from protein bank. QSAR was done for constructing many linear regression models. In combination with the developed Docking and QSAR outcomes, ADMET has been performed for the active compounds. The result shows that 11 of the compounds have excellent binding energy in docking with all the receptors and also have good QSAR results and follow the ADMET. The structural understanding of human GABA-AT inhibition was obtained from molecular dynamics simulation studies for compound no. 11 at 5 nanoseconds. Synthesis and pharmacological activity also suggest that the designed compound no.11 be considered the best Novel Compound.

Continuous technological progress places significant demands on the materials used in increasingly modern devices. An important parameter is often the long-term thermal resistance of the material. The use of heat-resistant polymer materials worked well in technologically advanced products. An economically justified direction in searching for new materials is the area of polymer nanocomposite materials. It is necessary to appropriately select both the polymer matrix and the nanofillers best able to demonstrate the synergistic effect. A promising area of exploration for such nanocomposites is the use of organosilicon polymers, which results from the unique properties of these polymers related to their structure. This review presents the results of the analysis of the most important literature reports regarding organosilicon polymer nanocomposites with increased thermal resistance. Particular attention was paid to modification methods of silicone nanocomposites focused on the increase of their thermal resistance related to the modification of siloxane molecular structure and by making nanocomposites using inorganic additives, carbon nanomaterials. Attention was also paid to such important issues as the influence of the dispersion of additives in the polymer matrix on the thermal resistance of silicone nanocomposites and the possibility of modifying the polymer matrix and permanently introducing nanofillers thanks to the presence of various reactive groups. The thermal stability mechanism of these nanocomposites was also analysed.

Bio-inspired gyroid triply periodic minimum surface (TPMS) lattice structures have been the focus of research in automotive engineering because they can absorb a lot of energy and have wider plateau ranges. The main challenge is determining the optimal energy absorption capacity and accurately capturing plastic plateau areas using finite element analysis (FEA). Using nTop's Boolean subtraction method, this study combined walled TPMS gyroid structures with normal TPMS gyroid lattice. This made a composite TPMS-gyroid lattice with relative densities ranging from 14% to 54%. Using the ideaMaker software and the fused deposition modeling (FDM) Raise3D Pro 2 3D printer to print polylactic acid (PLA) bioplastics in 1.75 mm filament made it possible to slice computer aided design (CAD) models and fabricate 36 lattices samples precisely layer by layer technique. Shimadzu 100kN testing equipment was utilized for the mechanical compression experiments. And the validation using finite element analysis (FEA). Further, CTG was examined using a field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) before and after compression testing. The composite TPMS gyroid lattice showed potential as shock absorbers for vehicles with relative densities of 33%, 38%, and 54%. The Gibson-Ashby model showed that the composite TPMS gyroid lattice deformed mainly by bending, and the size effect was seen when the relative densities were less than 15%. The lattice's relative density had a significant impact on its ability to absorb energy. The research also explored the use of these innovative foam-like composite TPMS-gyroid lattices in high-speed crash box scenarios, potentially enhancing vehicle safety and performance.

As matrix representations of magic labelings of related hypergraphs, magic squares and their various variants have been applied to many domains. Among various subclasses, trimagic squares have been investigated for over a hundred years. The existence problem for trimagic squares with singly even orders and orders 16n has been solved completely. However, very little is known for the existence of trimagic squares with other even orders except for the only three examples and three families. We construct normal trimagic squares by using product constructions, row-square magic rectangles, and trimagic pairs of orthogonal diagonal Latin squares. We give a new product construction: For positive integers p, q, and r having the same parity other than 1, 2, 3, 6, if normal p × q and r × q row-square magic rectangles exist, then a normal trimagic square with order pqr exists. As its application, we construct normal trimagic squares of orders 8q^3 and 8pqr for all odd integers q not less than 7 and p,r ∈ {7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37}. Our construction can easily be extended to construct multimagic squares.

Silencing of the fragile X mental retardation 1 (FMR1) gene and consequently lack of synthesis of FMR protein (FMRP) are associated with fragile X syndrome, which is one of the most prevalent inherited intellectual disabilities. FMRP is a multifunctional protein involved in many cellular functions in nearly all subcellular compartments under normal conditions and under conditions of cellular stress in both neuronal and non-neuronal cell types. This is achieved through its trafficking signals, nuclear localization signal (NLS), nuclear export signal (NES), and nucleolar localization signal (NoLS), as well as its RNA and protein binding domains, and is modulated by various post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation, ubiquitination, sumoylation, and methylation. This review summarizes recent advances in understanding the interaction networks of FMRP with a special focus on FMRP stress-related functions, including stress granule formation, mitochondrion and endoplasmic reticulum plasticity, ribosome biogenesis, cell cycle control, and DNA damage response.

Over the years, the need for autonomous systems such as drones, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), has significantly increased in popularity across several industries, including the military. The Internet of Battlefield Things (IoBT) represents a modern technological advancement that significantly enhances the operational efficacy of defense systems. It establishes an integrated military force by connecting individuals to intelligent technology in drones, radios, equipment, antennas and ground stations. This is achieved through the utilization of cloud and edge computing, sensors, mobile devices, embedded systems, and IoT-based systems. However, IoBT security is significantly compromised by enemies that exploit the vulnerabilities and malicious intrusions that specifically target the external environment or to obtain sensitive data. In addition, a comprehensive understanding of cyberattacks and countermeasures is essential for assuring the security of IoBT. On the other hand, as cyber threats get more complicated, trust becomes increasingly important for the security of digital systems. Within this context, the zero trust architecture contends that the security of a complex network is inherently vulnerable to internal and external threats. In defense, UAV security system applications, for example, the primary purpose of the zero trust architecture is to limit the vulnerability of military UAV systems to cyberattacks, hence reducing the possibility of data breaches and illegal entry. This study conducts a systematic review aimed at identifying different aspects of cybersecurity strategies for protecting UAV systems within the IoBT domain. Furthermore, zero trust architecture is presented in the study as an effective prospective solution to the security issues that develop in defense UAV systems.

This paper presents an innovative multi-agent, data-driven reinforcement learning (RL) approach to develop and utilize the thermal equivalent network model that represents the motor's thermal dynamics. A multi-agent reinforcement learning is designed and trained to adjust the model parameters using data from several motor driving cycles. To ensure the incoming driving cycle matches the historical data before employing the pre-trained RL agents, offline statistical analysis and clustering techniques are developed and used. Numerical simulations highlighted the RL agent's ability to develop strategies that effectively address the variability of driving cycles. The proposed RL framework showed its capability to accurately reflect the motor's thermal behavior under various driving conditions.

The wealth of data obtained during the past 20 years using Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) indicates that the technique is very promising to detect small chemical contents of alloying elements. The potential of LIBS was looked more seriously during the past two decades or so as more data were obtained on Aluminum and steel to study the phenomena in the condition of local thermodynamic equilibrium and time-delay between a Q-switch laser and an intensified CCD camera. Since the past decade, some data on compounds were also shown to be useful in determining small concentrations of harmful elements. This manuscript is intended to show that the technique of LIBS performance is very promising in fields such as micro-machining, in alloying element analysis, surface cleaning and environmental applications even with lightweight spectrometers having a relatively low resolution, which can potentially be air-borne.

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, particularly Machine Learning algorithms, becomes increasingly ubiquitous, our abilities to understand and interpret AI and machine learning algorithms are becoming increasingly desirable. Visualization has been used as a common tool to view and understand complex machine learning processes. In this paper, we will focus on developing a general framework for the visualization of machine learning models as a scalar valued multi-dimensional function to help users understand how the models behave over different viewing spaces. We first give a formal definition of the visualization problem. Interpolation-based morphing and subspace sampling techniques are applied to generate various renderings through projections and cross-sections of the model space as 3D surfaces or heatmap images. This method will be applied to two real-world datasets and applications: the diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) using a human brain networks dataset and a real-world benchmark dataset for predicting home credit default risks. The visualizations show that different machine learning algorithms can behave quite differently under different conditions.

The study investigated the usage of open data in public organizations, focusing on the motives, preferences, and governance ideals that determine their quality. The study shed light on how open data platforms are created and improved, as well as their influence on government operations. The primary goal was to understand the motivations behind the usage of open data, evaluate gov-ernance ideals, and examine institutions' efforts to standardize data formats. Hierarchical regres-sion analysis divides variables into core reasons and different preferences, demonstrating a need for "diversification" in order to use open data effectively. Efficiency, accountability, community impact, knowledge, and high-quality service delivery are all emphasized in governance value analysis. The institution's dedication to standardizing open data formats is evidenced by legislative measures and the integration of many technologies. The findings illustrate the institution's dual strategy of em-ploying traditional techniques and new technologies for effective data management. The report suggests increasing data openness and standardization, investing in ongoing training, upgrading alerting and awareness systems, and adopting specific regulations for open data use. Monitoring and feedback techniques are critical for adjusting and refining open data services to satisfy de-velopment needs. This study adds to the scientific knowledge of open data use by highlighting important motives, preferences, and governance ideals. The offered guidelines provide practical insights for public organizations looking to improve their open data platforms by promoting openness, efficiency, and community participation.

Monitoring of clients living with HIV encompasses a specific array of activities that routinely check on various aspects of ART following its initiation depending on the availability of resources in that particular state, among other factors as per guidelines from the World Health Organisation. This is a significant practice as it promotes positive health outcomes for patients and efficient utilisation of ART regimens to reduce resistance to the medication – hence it is a measure to guard avoidable costs. It also forms a basis on which decisions are made from. It can be done clinically by assessing for signs e.g., skin rash and symptoms e.g., nausea and vomiting, checking vital organ function and measuring weights across all populations, or can be also be done by assessing specimens for their respective viral loads, white blood cell count, pregnancy status or other infections such as hepatitis B. There have not been any special indications required for one to be eligible for monitoring during ART in developing countries; all qualify for routine monitoring even though some may be more frequent than others in cases of comorbidities such as renal failure where medications can be attributed to exacerbating the condition.

Underwater Sensor Networks (UWSNs) can enable a broad range of applications such as resource monitoring, disaster prevention, and navigation-assisted. It is especially relevant for sensor nodes location in UWSNs. Global Positioning System (GPS) is not suitable for using in UWSNs because of the underwater propagation problems. Hence some localization algorithms based on the precise time synchronization between sensor nodes have been proposed which are not feasible for UWSNs. In this paper, we propose a localization algorithm called Two-Phase Time Synchronization-Free Localization Algorithm (TP-TSFLA). TP-TSFLA contains two phases, namely, range-based estimation phase and range-free evaluation phase. In the first phase, we address a time synchronization-free localization scheme base on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm to decrease the localization error. In the second phase, we propose a Circle-based Range-Free Localization Algorithm (CRFLA) to locate the unlocalized sensor nodes which cannot obtain the location information through the first phase. In the second phase, sensor nodes which are localized in the first phase act as the new anchor nodes to help realize localization. Hence in this algorithm, we use a small number of mobile beacons to help achieve location without any other anchor nodes. Besides, to improve the precision of the range-free method, an extension of CRFLA by designing a coordinate adjustment scheme is updated. The simulation results show that TP-TSFLA can achieve a relative high localization ratio without time synchronization.

Subnational governments play a key role responding to climate change risks in terms of policy strategies and instruments. This article analyzes how Brazilian municipal and state governments have developed and implemented public policies to mitigate and to adapt to climate change risks. We surveyed all cities’ and states’ climate policies within the country. The methodological approach includes five main points of analysis: 1. mitigation targets and intentions; 2. adaptation actions; 3. stakeholders’ participation; 4. policy implementation; 5. participation in networks related to climate change. Our results suggest that even though subnational climate policies in Brazil are isolated initiatives within the national context, they play an important role responding to climate change risks in different scales and levels. The strongest Brazilian policies with both mitigation and adaptation actions counted on previous mobilization for the climate issue involving different stakeholders from several segments of the society. These governments have also participated in transnational cooperation networks related to climate change.

In this study, we successfully reproduced the PSB with laddered patterning, showcasing the predictive capability of the framework of Field Theory of Multiscale Plasticity (FTMP), without relying on ad hoc models, intricate mathematical models, or elaborate finite element discretization. The FTMP-incorporated CP-FEM simulation not only reasonably replicates the experimentally observed laddered morphology and PSB but also effectively simulates surface roughening and grooving, independent of vacancy formation and diffusion. These results highlight the significance of laddered morphology and set the stage for further investigations into the effects of vacancy formation in future studies in Part II. Leveraging incompatibility tensor-based degrees of freedom, the FTMP framework offers exceptional capabilities for natural modeling dislocation substructures typically overlooked in conventional approaches, positioning it as a transformative tool for advancing our understanding of the mechanism that dictate slip band-fatigue crack transitions.

A 7.4 m long sediment core has been retrieved from the central part of Lake Vrana on the Island of Cres to reconstruct the paleoenvironmental conditions. Lake Vrana is the deepest freshwater lake in Croatia, located in the karst region of the eastern Adriatic coast. A dated sediment sequence in Lake Vrana of 4.4 m spans the past 16.4 kyr, and features a dynamic sediment deposition until the beginning of the Holocene, including strong sediment input and supply to the lake by runoff sediments of dolomitic origin from the catchment in the period 16.4-14.4 cal kyr BP. High organic carbon content, which originates from mixed terrestrial and aquatic origins in the periods 14.4-13.3 cal kyr BP and 12.7-11.7 cal kyr BP, indicates fluctuating lake levels in shallow water environments during the late glacial to Holocene transition. The Holocene sequence indicates the development of more stable conditions and continuous sediment deposition, characterized by increasing trend of siliciclastic sediments delivered into the lake during the early Holocene (11.7-10 cal kyr BP), and dominantly from 8 to 4.4 cal kyr BP, indicating enhanced input and erosion, which coincides with humid and pluvial period, recorded in the central Mediterranean region. It is followed by sediments with high organic carbon content between 4.4 to 1.6 cal kyr BP, which points to higher lake productivity. Calcite sedimentation prevail between 1.6 to 0.4 cal kyr BP, indicating stable deeper-lake conditions, while dominantly siliciclastic sediments in the period 0.4-0.1 cal kyr BP indicate erosion during Little Ice Age (LIA), with enhanced precipitation and sediment discharge from the catchment. The re-establishment of calcite sedimentation has been observed over the last 100 years.

The proliferation of wearable technology enables the generation of vast amounts of sensor data, offering significant opportunities for advancements in health monitoring, activity recognition, and personalized medicine. However, the complexity and volume of this data present substantial challenges in data modeling and analysis, which have been tamed with approaches spanning time series modeling to deep learning techniques. The latest frontier in this domain is the adoption of Large Language Models (LLMs), such as GPT-4 and Llama, for data analysis, modeling, understanding, and generation of human behavior through the lens of wearable sensor data. This survey explores current trends and challenges in applying LLMs for sensor-based human activity recognition and behavior modeling. We discuss the nature of wearable sensors data, the capabilities and limitations of LLMs to model them and their integration with traditional machine learning techniques. We also identify key challenges, including data quality, computational requirements, interpretability, and privacy concerns. By examining case studies and successful applications, we highlight the potential of LLMs in enhancing the analysis and interpretation of wearable sensors data. Finally, we propose future directions for research, emphasizing the need for improved preprocessing techniques, more efficient and scalable models, and interdisciplinary collaboration. This survey aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the intersection between wearable sensors data and LLMs, offering insights into the current state and future prospects of this emerging field.

Hamstring injuries present a notable challenge to the performance and durability of soccer athletes, particularly those situated in rural areas where access to specialized training facilities may be scarce. This literature review delves into the amalgamation of resistance and flexibility training as a holistic strategy for averting hamstring injuries among rural-based soccer athletes. Utilizing existing scholarly works, this review underscores the significance of resistance training in enhancing hamstring strength, power, and stamina, while flexibility training augments muscle pliability and range of motion, thus diminishing the likelihood of injuries. Furthermore, it scrutinizes a range of resistance and flexibility routines customized to meet the specific requirements of soccer and the limitations of rural settings. Through the amalgamation of evidence-based methodologies, this review puts forth the mechanisms of injury and pragmatic suggestions for coaches, trainers, and athletes to implement efficient injury prevention protocols. Highlighting the collaborative advantages of resistance and flexibility training, this methodology strives to enhance performance and shield against hamstring injuries in rural-based soccer athletes.

Novel functionalized and/or grafted crosslinked chitosan adsorbents were synthesized and used to remove several toxic heavy metal ions from contaminated water efficiently and selectively. The chitosan biopolymer was functionalized by maleic anhydride (CS_MA), which also acted as a crosslinking agent. Separately, Glutaraldehyde-crosslinked chitosan (CS_GA) was grafted with poly(methyl methacrylate) (CS_MMA). The synthesized adsorbents were used to adsorb and remove heavy metal ions from contaminated water. The metal ions were nickel, lead, chromium, and cadmium. The adsorption capacity of the adsorbents was analyzed under various conditions of contact time, adsorbent dose, initial concertation, temperature, and pH and evaluated against those of pure chitosan (CS) and the crosslinked one (CS_GA). The ultimate conditions for the ions removal were 0.5g/100ml adsorbent dose, an initial metal ion concentration of 50 ppm, a temperature of 45oC, and a pH 9. CS_MMA, which had the highest removal percentages for all metal ions, ranging from 92% to 94%. The adsorption was demonstrated to fit a pseudo-first-order model that followed a Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The results highlight the capacity of the synthesized polymers to efficiently remove major toxic contaminants at low cost from contaminated water, present especially in low-income areas, without harming the environment.

Chrysanthemum tea, a typical health tea with the same origin as medicine and food, is famous for its unique health benefits and flavor. To clarify the influence of metabolites of different varieties of chrysanthemum tea on the formation of taste and quality differences, nontargeted metabolomics combined with electronic tongue analysis were used to characterize the correlation between metabolites profiles and taste characteristics of different quality chrysanthemum tea. Thirteen metabolites were identified as the key metabolites of the sensory quality difference between Huangju and Jinsi Huangju tea. Kaempferol, luteolin, genistein, and some quinic acid derivatives were correlated with the ‘astringent’ and taste attributes. In contrast, l-(-)-3 phenyllactic acid and L-malic acid were found to be the ‘bitterness’ and ‘umami’ in chrysanthemum tea. KEGG pathway enrichment analysis showed that the flavonoid and flavonol biosynthesis pathway had important effects on the sensory quality of chrysanthemum tea.

This research aimed to assess the influence of red dragon fruit peels ratio (RDF-PR) from two species, Hylocereus hybridum (HH) and Hylocereus undatus (HU), and particle size (PS) on quality parameters of red dragon fruit peel powder (RDF-PP), and its further application in emulsified alpaca-based sausages as partial substitutes of pork-back fat. A three-level full factorial design (nine treatments) was employed to evaluate the effect of: (i) RDF-PR [HH(0%):HU(100%), HH(50%):HU(50%), and HH(100%):HU(0%)] and (ii) PS (499–297, 296–177, and &lt;177 µm) on the dependent variables: L*, a*, b*, C, h°, water-holding capacity, oil-holding capacity, swelling capacity, pectin yield, degree of esterification (analysed through FT-IR), and crude fibre content. The data analysed through a response surface methodology showed that treatment one (T1) is the best with the optimised conditions at 100% HU RDF-PR and PS of &lt;177 µm. The statistical validation of T1 exhibited the highest water holding capacity (32.1 g H2O/g peel), oil holding capacity (2.20 g oil/g peel), and pectin yield (27.1%). A completely randomised design (four formulations) was then used to assess the effect of partial replacement of pork-back fat by T1 in emulsified alpaca-based sausages. The results revealed that 65.7% of pork-back fat content was successfully replaced as compared with a control formulation.

Dengue is a pan-tropical arthropod-borne disease, endemic in over 100 countries. The dengue virus comprises four antigenic serotypes (DENV 1-4). The envelope (E) and non-structural 1 (NS1) proteins are highly immunogenic, and the E protein carries epitopes eliciting neutralizing antibodies. In previous studies, mice immunizations with two DNA vaccines encoding the E ectodomain (pE1D2) and NS1 proteins (pcTPANS1) from DENV2 induced high protection. Based on these findings, we constructed new plasmids containing the codon-optimized genes from these proteins for expression in mouse and human cells, named pEotmD2 and pNS1otmD2. Compared to the pE1D2, the pEotmD2 mediated lower expression of the recombinant protein in human and mouse cell lines, while the pNS1otmD2 plasmid was slightly more efficient than the pcTPANS1 in these cells. Immunogenicity and protection were evaluated in BALB/c mice immunized with the original and codon-optimized plasmids followed by challenged with DENV2. In accordance with the in vitro experiments, the antibody response and protection elicited by the pE1otmD2 plasmid was lower than those observed with the pE1D2. In contrast, the pNS1otmD2 vaccine enabled slightly higher levels of the humoral and protective responses than the pcTPANS1. Overall, our study revealed different effects of codon optimization on these two dengue DNA vaccines.

A bridged 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO) derivative (PN-DOPO) in combination with aluminum phosphates coated sepiolite (Sep@AlPO4) was used to improve the flame retardancy, thermal stability and mechanical properties of poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO)/poly (butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) blends. The synergistic effects of PN-DOPO and Sep@AlPO4 on the fire resistance, thermal decomposition behavior and mechanical properties of PEO/PBAT composites were investigated systematically. The results indicated that 5 wt % Sep@AlPO4 combined with 10 wt% PN-DOPO into PEO/PBAT achieved a V-1 rating in UL-94 test and the LOI value increased to 23.7%, meanwhile, the peak-heat release rate (p-HRR), av-HRR and total heat release (THR) values of PEO/PBAT/PN10%/Sep5% composites decreased by 35.6%, 11.0% and 23.0% compared with those of PEO/PBAT, respectively. The thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) results confirmed that PN-DOPO/Sep@AlPO4 could enhance the initial thermal stability and char yield of PEO/PBAT matrix, and TGA/Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (TGA-FTIR) results revealed that the composites exhibited the absorption peaks of phosphorous-containing groups and an increase in gas-phase volatiles during the thermal decomposition process. The digital photographs and morphological structures of char residues demonstrated that PN-DOPO and Sep@AlPO4 mixtures benefited to the formation of a more continuous and dense carbon layer on the composites surface during combustion. Rheological behavior revealed that a higher storage modulus, loss modulus and complex viscosity of PEO/PBAT/PN-DOPO/Sep@AlPO4 composites could also promote the cross-linking structure during burning. Furthermore, the PEO/PBAT/PN-DOPO/Sep@AlPO4 composites exhibited excellent mechanical properties in terms of elongation at break and flexural performance than the PEO/PBAT system. All the results demonstrated that PEO/PBAT system modified by the combination of PN-DOPO and Sep@AlPO4 not only exhibited excellent synergistic effect on the flame retardance, but also had good improvement on thermal stability and mechanical properties, indicating the potential application in areas requiring fire safety.

The petroleum industry produces thousands of barrels of oilfield waters from the initial stage driven by primary production mechanisms to the tertiary stage. These produced waters contain measurable amounts of oil in water emulsions, the exact amounts being determined by the chemistry of the crude oil. To meet strict environmental regulations governing the disposal of such produced waters, demulsification to regulatory permissible levels is required. Within the electric double layer theory, coupled with the analytical solutions to the Poisson Boltzmann Equation, continuum electrostatics approaches can be used to describe the static and electrokinetic properties of such emulsion systems. Therefore, theoretical understanding of the stability of oil in water emulsions within such fundamental concepts provides reliable approaches to demulsification. In this paper, we have used theoretical approaches, based on zeta potential and surface charge density models to determine the stability of oil in water emulsions for different crude oil samples. Accordingly, we have used literature based data on the chemistry of the crude oils, and have ranked the order of emulsion stability based on criterial established by zeta potential plots for the oil. Our theoretical calculations show that where the isoelectric points of crude oil samples are closer to each other, the degree of ionization plots versus pH indicate close tends for salinities at varying pH of oilfield waters. Based on the chemistry of crude oil samples, the most efficient and cost-effective means of demulsification is by reducing produced water pH to values closer to the average point of zero charge pH values

This study aims to focus on using the Volterra series and machine learning for forecasting random and chaotic wind speed regimes, since the calm weather is mostly noticed at the local site, making the dataset selection difficult. A novel method is proposed to predict Volterra kernels up to the third order, using a forward-back propagation neural network with 12-month measurements at Fujairah site (UAE). Both daily and monthly wind speed data sets are investigated for forecasting. The three dominant hourly and daily kernels are extracted for each day and each month. Predicted future Volterra kernels are estimated from past values using both statistical analysis and individual neuro networks for each of the Volterra kernel coefficients. Due to the random nature of wind speed at the local site, a two-layer with 4 neurons per layer neuro network is used to locate the most variable and intense speed during 8-hours in the day. Forecasted wind speed is determined with errors arising from different sources such as the utilization of only 3rd-order Volterra kernels and the difficulty of machine training of the employed shallow network. Nevertheless, this work depicts a useful algorithm to forecast chaotic and random wind speed regimes. Computational time is a trade of the complexity of Volterra mathematical analysis.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore, from the perspective of government interven-tion, behavioral logic and game relationship among farmers, service organizations and the gov-ernment in the pest and disease control outsourcing system, as well as the endogenous motiva-tion of each subject. The results indicate that the stronger the willingness of each subject, the faster the stable state of joint pest and disease control among the three parties can be formed; In the case of implementing a single policy tool, the convergence rate of each party that imple-ments the regulatory policy alone is fast but may be unstable, while the rate is slow but more stable when a guidance- or incentive-based policy is solely applied; The effect of policy tool combination is much better than that of a single policy tool applied. The simultaneous imple-mentation of the three types of policy tools can form a policy system with both positive and negative mechanisms, which can maximize complementary and superposition effect.

Bacterial nanocellulose (BNC) surface has a negative charge that allows the adsorption of calcium ions to initiate the nucleation of different calcium phosphate phases. The aim of this study was to investigate different methods of mineralization on three-dimensional microporous bacterial nanocellulose, to mimetize the composition, structure, and biomechanical properties of natural bone. To generate 3D microporous biomaterial, the porogen particles were incorporated during the BNC fermentation with the strain Komagataeibacter medellinensis. Calcium phosphates (CPs) were deposited on BNC scaffolds by five alternating immersing cycles with calcium and phosphate solutions. Scanning electron microscopy micrograph showed that the scaffolds have different pore sizes, between 70 and 350 µm, but the porous interconnectivity was affected by the biomineralization method and time. The crystals on the BNC surface are shown to be rod-shaped with a calcium phosphate ratio similar to that of immature bone, increasing from 1.13 to 1.6 with cycle numbers. The main mineral phases obtained by X-ray diffraction were Octacalcium Dihydrogen Hexakis (phosphate (V)) Pentahydrate (OCP). In vitro cell studies showed good cellular adhesion and higher cell viability to 95% in all the scaffolds. Osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells on the scaffolds was evaluated by bone expression markers like alkaline phosphatase, osteocalcin, and osteopontin. In conclusion, it is possible to prepare 3D BNC scaffolds with controlled microporosity, which could allow osteoblast adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation.

Despite being well established phenomena, solidification principles are experiencing tough challenges in their application to explain microscale transport phenomena in additive manufacturing melt pool. The problem becomes even more complicated when applied to multicomponent bulk metallic glass matrix composites (BMGMC) whose behavior is dubious and still not fully understood. The aim of the present study is to highlight pathways to overcome these challenges. A comprehensive nucleation and growth model based on original KGT theory and Rappaz modification is proposed encompassing actual transient thermophysical BMGMC data to predict evolving microstructure during additive manufacturing. The model is aimed at pictorial representation of in-situ ductile phase dendrite evolution from melt pool during solidification using two-dimensional cellular automaton (CA) methods. It is proposed to be coded in MATLAB® using commercial simulation code ABAQUS® at back end for macroscopic heat transfer model. The results will be compared with experimental values for validation.

Predicting Length of Stay (LoS) and understanding its underlying factors is essential to minimize the risk of hospital-acquired conditions, improve financial, operational, and clinical outcomes, and to better manage future pandemics. The purpose of this study is to forecast patients’ LoS using a deep learning model and analyze cohorts of risk factors minimizing or maximizing LoS. We employed various pre-processing techniques, SMOTE-N to balance data, and Tab-Transformer model to forecast LoS. Finally, Apriori algorithm was applied to analyze cohorts of risk factors influencing LoS at hospital. The Tab-Transformer outperformed the base Machine Learning models with an F1-score (.92), precision (.83), recall (.93), and accuracy (.73) for discharge dataset, and F1-score (.84), precision (.75), recall (.98), and accuracy (.77) for deceased dataset. The association mining algorithm was able to identify significant risk factors/indicators belonging to lab, X-Ray, and clinical data such as elevated LDH, and D-Dimer, lymphocytes count, and comorbidities such as hypertension and diabetes responsible for extending patients LoS. It also reveals what treatments has reduced the symptoms of COVID-19 patients leading to reduction in LoS particularly when no vaccines or medication such as Paxlovid were available.

Salmonella is a foodborne pathogen associated with localized outbreaks that potentially pose a huge risk to the public health in some countries such as Africa and India, especially in the regions lacking health care measures. The focus of the present study is the molecular detection method of salmonella. The study was conducted to identify Salmonella strains by PCR targeting flagellin specific gene from suspected patient’s clinical blood samples. Serologically, Widal test results showed that all serum samples except one patient (ID 7) were positive for O antigen. The serum of three patients (ID 4, 5 and 10) were found to be positive for H and O antigens while one patient (ID 9) showed agglutination for antigen H. The PCR approach used in this study was successful for fast and precise detection of clinically related Salmonella Typhi. Seven samples out of 10 were positive for Salmonella Typhi as fragments of 458-497bp were observed on the gel-agarose 0.8% corresponds to flagellin gene of S. Typhi. Relatively, smaller amplicons of 366-343bp were observed utilizing nested PCR as well, which seems more sensitive than the conventional PCR. Therefore, we recommend the PCR approach performed in this study to be used as a fast, cost-effective, and time-consuming tool for diagnostic purposes of Salmonella.

Abstract Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing played an important role in analyzing environmental and socio-economic drivers that created favorable condition for malaria breeding as well as in identifying hazard and risk areas. This study gives great emphasis on mapping malaria hazard and risk areas in Gedio zone of SNNPs using geospatial technology. The study identifies two major drivers like Environmental (physical) factors: which provide for the endurance of mosquitoes and Socio-economic factors. The above data were presented and analyzed quantitatively. The content analysis shows that Malaria hazard prevalence areas were mapped based on the environmental factors which are potential of providing good environmental conditions for mosquito breeding. The hazard map was produced using elevation, slope, proximity to breeding sites, and soil type as the factors for breeding mosquitoes. The malaria hazard analysis of the Gedio zone revealed that from the total area, 9.83%, 35.29% is mapped as a very high and high-risk area, whereas, the remaining 38.73%, a 16.14%, and 0.01% were mapped as moderate, low, very low level of malaria hazard respectively. The total area of the study area more than 1/3rd of the area is identified as a very high and high malaria risk area while the rest 2/3rd of an area is considered as a moderate to very low hazard risk zone. Accordingly, very high malaria risk area is found around towns because of population density. Finally, I recommend that the concerned body should have to expand health center, creating awareness of society, especially around populated areas where the risk is high and environmental and individual sanitation can reduce the risk of malaria.

In dentistry, maxillofacial surgery, traumatology, and orthopedics, there is a need to use osteoplastic materials that have not only osteoinductive and osteoconductive properties but are also convenient for use. In the study, compositions based on collagen hydrogel were developed. Polylactide granules (PLA) or a traditional bone graft, a mixture of hydroxyapatite and β-tricalcium phosphate (HAP/β-TCP), were used for gel filling to improve mechanical osteoconductive properties of compositions. The mechanical tests showed that collagen hydrogels filled with 12 wt% highly porous PLA granules (elastic modulus 373 ± 55 kPa) or 35 wt% HAP/β-TCP granules (elastic modulus 451 ± 32 kPa) had optimal manipulative properties. All composite components were cytocompatible. The cell’s viability was above 90%, and the components’ structure facilitated the cell’s surface adhesion. The bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) provided osteoinductive composition properties. It was impregnated directly into the collagen hydrogel with the addition of fibronectin or inside porous PLA granules. The implantation of a collagen hydrogel with BMP-2 and PLA granules into a critical-size calvarial defect in rats led to the formation of the most significant volume of bone tissue: 61 ± 15%. It was almost 2.5 times more than in the groups where a collagen-fibronectin hydrogel with a mixture of HAP/β-TCP (25 ± 7%) or a fibronectin-free composition with porous PLA granules impregnated with BMP-2 (23 ± 8%) were used. Subcutaneous implantation of the compositions also showed their high biocompatibility and osteogenic potential in the absence of a bone environment. Thus, the collagen-fibronectin hydrogel with BMP-2 and PLA granules has optimal biocompatibility, osteogenic, and manipulative properties.

In this study, a slow-release urea fertilizer hydrogel was synthesized from hydroxyl propyl methyl cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol and glycerol blends with paper (blended paper) as second layer. The fertilizer hydrogel was characterized by SEM, XRD and FTIR. Its retention in sandy soil, swelling behavior in distilled and tap water as well as slow-release behavior to urea were investigated. The results indicated that the fertilizer had good slow-release properties and ability to retain water in soil. However, the addition of blended paper as a second layer matrix was found to help improve the release properties of the fertilizer. The swelling kinetic of the hydrogel followed the Schott’s Second order model. The release kinetics of urea in water was best described by the Zero order model signifying that the release behavior was independent of fertilizer concentration

The diffusion of molecules in aqueous solutions in the domain of membrane technology is very critical in the efficiency of chemical engineering and purification processes. In this study, the diffusion in high and low concentration regions is simulated with finite difference method (FDM), and then the results of numerical computations are coupled with adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) and bilayered neural network method (BNNM). Machine learning approach can individually predict diffusion phenomena across the domain based on understanding of the machine instead of the discretization of an ordinary differential equation (ODE). The findings of the machine learning method are in good agreement with those of FDM at different times of the simulation. In addition to numerical computation, the error of the system is computed for different iterations. The results show that by increasing the number of iterations and training datasets, all errors reduce significantly for both training and testing. BNN method is also used to train the prediction process of diffusion for a more accurate comparison. This technique is similar to ANFIS method in terms of prediction capability. According to the findings, ANFIS approach predicts diffusion slightly better than BNN method. In this regard, ANFIS technique produces R>0.99 while BNN method produces R around 0.98. Both machine learning methods are accurate enough to predict diffusion throughout the domain for different time steps. The computational time for both algorithms is less than that of FDM method to predict low and high concentrations in the domain. Besides, based on the results, artificial intelligence (AI) can find the relationship between inputs and outputs and determine which input has the main influence on the output in this study to optimize the process. As such, future studies can be focused on AI and other methods for faster prediction and optimization processes.

Background: The purpose of this article is to update the diagnostic assessment, therapeutic approach, and 12-18 month follow up of patients added in the Italian Lombardy ADHD Register. Methods: Data on patients evaluated by the 18 Regional ADHD Reference Centres in the ten year period from 2011 to April 2021 were analysed. Results: 4091 of 5934 added patients received a diagnosis of ADHD. In 20.3% of cases, there was a family history of ADHD. 2879 children (70.4%) had at least one comorbidity disorder, the most common of which was learning disorder (39%). Nearly all (95.9%) received at least one psychological prescription, 17.9% of them almost one pharmacological treatment, and 15.6% a combination of both. Values of ≥5 of the Clinical Global Impressions- Severity (CGI-S) are more commonly presented by patients with a pharmacological prescription than with a psychological treatment (p < .0001). A significant improvement was reported in half of the patients followed after 1 year, with Clinical Global Impressions- Improvement (CGI-I ≤ 3). In all, 233 of 4091 are 18 year old patients. Conclusion: A ten year systematic monitoring of models of care was a fruitful shared and collaborative initiative in order to promote significant improvement in clinical practice, providing effective and continuous quality of care. The unique experience here reported should spread.

Management practices must be developed to improve yam production sustainability. Image-based phenotyping techniques could help developing such practices based on non-destructive analyses of important plant traits. Our objective was to determine the potential of image-based phenotyping methods to assess traits relevant for tuber yield formation in yam grown in glasshouse and field. We took plant and leaf pictures with consumer cameras. We used the numbers of image pixels to derive the shoot biomass and the total leaf surface and calculated the ‘triangular greenness index’ (TGI) which is an indicator of the plant nitrogen (N) nutritional status. Under glasshouse conditions, the number of pixels obtained from nadir view (image taken top down) was positively correlated to the shoot biomass, and the total leaf surface, while the TGI was negatively correlated to the N content of diagnostic leaves. Under field conditions, pictures taken from the nadir view showed an increase in soil surface cover and a decrease in TGI with time. TGI was negatively correlated to SPAD measured on specific leaves but was not correlated to the N content of these leaves. In conclusion, these phenotyping techniques deliver relevant results but need to be further developed and validated for application in yam.

Oxytocin (OT) is regarded as an extremely important prosocial neuropeptide that dramatically affects the establishment of social connections from infancy to adulthood. OT effects on the psychoemotional state are pretty individual and may be dependent on age, gender, ethnocultural factors, social environment, the presence of stress factors, and features of personality. The Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) is a brief psychopathological screening tool and is recommended for the detection and classification of psychosocial problems in adolescents. The current field school-based study, conducted among urban Siberian adolescents (n = 298 aged 12–18) explored the relation of SDQ scales in relation to genotypes of CD38 gene that controls oxytocin release, rs3796863, and oxytocin receptor gene (OXTR), rs53576. The results of our study show that during the adolescence period, OT pathway high activity can cause some negative effects, such as emotional instability in young (aged 12–14) adolescent girls in the case of carriage of the rs3796863 A allele and emotional disturbances in older (aged 15–18) adolescent boys who are carriers of a GG variant of rs53576. Our results support the hypothesis of OT-mediated excessive social sensitivity which can lead to some age-sex depending psychosocial problems during adolescence.

The recent detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA in feces has led to speculation that it can be transmitted via the fecal-oral/ocular route. This review aims to critically evaluate the incidence of gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, the quantity and infectivity of SARS-CoV-2 in feces and urine, and whether these pose an infection risk in sanitary settings, sewage networks, wastewater treatment plants, and the wider environment (e.g. rivers, lakes and marine waters). Overall, severe GI dysfunction is only evident in a small number of COVID-19 cases, with 11 ± 2% exhibiting diarrhea and 12 ± 3% exhibiting vomiting and nausea. In addition to these cases, SARS-CoV-2 RNA can be detected in feces from some asymptomatic, mildly- and pre-symptomatic individuals. Fecal shedding of the virus peaks in the symptomatic period and can persist for several weeks, but with declining abundances in the post-symptomatic phase. SARS-CoV-2 RNA is occasionally detected in urine, but reports in fecal samples are more frequent. The abundance of the virus genetic material in both urine (ca. 10²-10⁵ gc/ml) and feces (ca. 10²-10⁷ gc/ml) is much lower than in nasopharyngeal fluids (ca. 10⁵-10¹¹ gc/ml). There is strong evidence of multiplication of SARS-CoV-2 in the GI tract and infectious virus has occasionally been recovered from both urine and stool samples. The level and infectious capability of SARS-CoV-2 in vomit remain unknown. In comparison to enteric viruses transmitted via the fecal-oral route (e.g. norovirus, adenovirus), the likelihood of SARS-CoV-2 being transmitted via feces or urine appears lower due to the lower relative amounts of virus present in feces/urine. The biggest risk of transmission will occur in clinical and care home settings where secondary handling of people and urine/fecal matter occurs. In addition, while SARS-CoV-2 RNA genetic material can be detected by in wastewater, this signal is greatly reduced by conventional treatment. Our analysis also suggests the likelihood of infection due to contact with sewage-contaminated water (e.g. swimming, surfing, angling) or food (e.g. salads, shellfish) is extremely low or negligible based on very low predicted abundances and limited environmental survival of SARS-CoV-2. These conclusions are corroborated by the fact that over eight million global cases of COVID-19 have occurred, but exposure to feces or wastewater has never been implicated as a transmission vector.

Intersectoral and intermunicipal cooperation are still underdeveloped spheres of public and economic development policies. Academic discussions are invariably focused on pro-competitive activities, the economic efficiency of which is not always sufficient. In this paper the authors attempt to identify factors leading to cooperation between local government authorities and economic entities, focusing on examples from the forest and wood-based sector in Poland. These processes are analysed in the framework of the New Institutional Economy, both in the theoretical and practical context.

Background and Objectives: Multiple primary malignant tumors represent a small percentage of the total number of oncological cases and can involve either metachronous or synchronous development and represent challenges in diagnosis, staging, and treatment planning. Our purpose is to present a rare case of bladder adenocarcinoma in a female patient with multiple primary malignant tumors and to provide systematic review of the available literature. Materials and Methods:A 67-year-old female patient who was admitted altered general condition, and anuria. The past medical history of the patient included malignant melanoma (2014), cervical cancer (2017), colon cancer (2021), obstructive anuria (2023), liver metastasectomy (2023). Transurethral resection of bladder tumor was performed for bladder tumors. Results: Contrast CT highlighted multiple pulmonary metastases, a poly nodular liver con-glomerate, retroperitoneal lymph node, II/III grade left ureterohydronephrosis, and no digestive tract tumor masses. The pathological result of the bladder resection showed an infiltrative adenocarcinoma. Conclusions: The difference between primary bladder adenocarcinoma tumor and metastatic colorectal adenocarcinoma is the key for the future therapeutic strategy. Identification and assessment of risk factors such as viral infection, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, smoking, genetics are pivotal in understanding and managing multiple primary malignant tumors. Personalized prevention strategies, screening programs may facilitate the early detection of this tumors, synchronous or metachronous one. The use of multicancer early detection (MCED) blood tests for early diagnosis appears promising. However, additional research is needed to standardize these techniques for cancer detection.

Staphylococcus aureus is a gram-negative bacterium that causes superficial and deep infections that can be mild or potentially fatal. Recently, the bacterium has gained significant attention due to the increased incidence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) strains that make treatment with antibiotics dif-ficult. Owing to the MDR strains, alternative therapies such as antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (PDT) have emerged as good options to treat non-systemic infections. PDT combines a photosensi-tiser (PS) with light and oxygen to generate free radicals that destroy bacterial structures such as the plasma membrane, matrix, and genetic material. This systematic review aimed to identify the ef-fectiveness of PDT delivered using different types of hydrogels for treating wounds, burns, and contamination by S. aureus. This systematic review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines. Bibliographic research was conducted using the PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus databases. Only full articles published in English between 2013 and 2024 from any country of origin (without restrictions) were included. The research was carried out from 15 June 2023 to 15 June 2024 and did not use any automatic biblio-graphic search tool. The articles collected were identified using keywords and selected using in-clusion and exclusion criteria in accordance with the PRISMA protocol. Seven articles were in-cluded that presented a good set of evidence associated with the use of PDT against S. aureus in in vitro and in vivo studies. To conclude, PDT can effectively complement antimicrobial therapy against S. aureus, in the healing of wounds and burns. The effectiveness of this technique depends on the PS used, hydrogel type, and lesion location. Some studies have already demonstrated the ef-fectiveness of PDT but most were in vitro and a few in vivo. Further studies are required to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of PDT delivered via hydrogels in in vivo models of bacterial infection.

Background/Objectives: Infectious Endocarditis often requires surgical intervention, with postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) posing a significant concern. This retrospective study aimed to investigate AKI incidence, its impact on short-term mortality, and identify modifiable factors in patients with endocarditis scheduled for valve surgery. Methods: This single center study enrolled 130 consecutive endocarditis patients from 2013 to 2021 undergoing valve surgery. Creatinine levels were monitored pre- and postoperatively, and AKI was defined by Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria. Patient demographics, comorbidities, procedural details, and complications were recorded. Primary outcomes included AKI incidence, the relevance of creatinine levels for AKI detection, and the association of AKI with 30-, 60- and 180-day mortality. Modifiable factors contributing to AKI were explored as secondary outcomes. Results: Postoperatively, 35.4% developed AKI. The highest creatinine elevation occurred on the 2nd postoperative day. Best predictive value for AKI was a creatinine level of 1.35 mg/dl on the 2nd day (AUC: 0.901; sensitivity: 0.89, specificity: 0.79). Elevated creatinine levels on the 2nd day were robust predictors for short-term mortality at 30, 60 and 180 days postoperatively (AUC ranging from 0.708 to 0.789). CK-MB levels at 24 hours postoperatively and minimum hemoglobin during surgery were identified as independent predictors for AKI in logistic regression. Conclusions: This study highlights the crucial role of creatinine levels in predicting short-term mortality in surgical endocarditis patients. A specific threshold (1.35 mg/dl) provides a practical marker for risk stratification, offering insights for refining perioperative strategies and optimizing outcomes in this challenging patient population.

Drosophila melanogaster serves as a important research model both for genetic investigations and for the study of metal toxicity, facilitating the elucidation of physiological mechanisms comparable to those of human organisms. In our research, we evaluated the toxicity effect resulting from exposure to various concentrations of lead and copper on the prolificity rates throughout the life cycle (egg-adult) of four genotypes of Drosophila melanogaster: wild-type (control), white, brown, and white-vestigial. During our study, the prolificity rates were examined across three repetitions under the impact of exposure to concentrations of 0.50, 1.00, 2.00, and 4.00 mM of copper (CuSO₄) and lead (Pb(C₂H₃O₂₎₂). Prolificity rates throughout the life cycle exhibited variations as a direct consequence of genetic factors, the concentration of exposure, and the specific type of metal, either copper or lead. The mutant white-vestigial genotype revealed an IC₅₀ concentration for prolificity inhibition at lower doses of 2.00 mM for copper and 4.00 mM for lead, in contrast to the control genotype (wild-type), which exhibited an inhibition concentration rate >IC₅₀ of 4.00 mM only in the case of copper. Our results concluded that the (i) dose influences the prolificity rate in a directly proportional manner, (ii) comparative analyses between copper and lead revealed that copper displayed toxicity across all genotypes within the concentration range of 0.50 mM to 2.00 mM. In contrast, lead exhibited toxicity within the concentration range of 1.00 mM to 4.00 mM, highlighting a (iii) more acute toxicity characteristic in the case of copper. Thus, the results of this research reflect the importance of using Drosophila melanogaster as a genetic model in the comparative study of the interaction between genetic factors and the toxicity of metals, offering significant insights into monitoring their impact and defining the maximum permissible doses on organisms.

The agronomic characteristics of Cenchrus purpureus were assessed through a randomized block experimental design with seven accessions (Taiwan grass, King grass, Elephant grass, Merkeron, CT-115, Purpule grass and Maralfalfa) as treatments and four replications research was carried out at the Instituto Tecnológico Superior de Tantoyuca, in 2019 and 2020, under rainfed conditions. Sowing density was established at 36 tillers in 25 m2. Green and dry matter yield, daily rates of dry matter accumulation in leaves, leaf/stem ratio, height, leaf area index and cutting frequency were assessed. Rainfall amount, temperature, relative humidity and global radiation levels were recorded to assess their effect on the evaluated variables. One-way ANOVA and multivariate analysis techniques, such as multiple linear regression (MLR), Clustering, and Principal component analysis (PCA) with the Statistica V7 software, were used. The leaf area index was greatest (p &lt; 0.05) on the dry season. Green and dry matter yield were greatest in Maralfalfa (p &lt; 0.05). Variation in the results is attributed to weather phenomena; nonetheless, Elephant grass and Maralfalfa showed the highest yields. Quality parameters must be evaluated to identify those grasses with the best attributes.

We study the Mean-Risk model, where risk is measured by the Modified CoVaR \[ \CoVaR^{\leq}_{\alpha, \beta}(X|Y) = VaR_\beta ( X \;| \; Y + VaR_\alpha (Y) \leq 0).\] We prove that in Gaussian setting, for sufficiently small $\beta$, such model has a solution.

A new 2 parameter unit Weibull distribution is defined on the unit interval (0,1). The methodology of deducing its PDF, some of its properties and related functions are discussed. The paper is supplied by many figures illustrating the new distribution and how this can make it illegible to fit a wide range of skewed data. The new distribution holds a name (Attia) as a nickname.

This study explores integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology into risk management practices for construction projects, aiming to enhance project performance through improved risk identification, assessment, and mitigation. The research employs the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) to prioritize BIM-based strategies across multiple risk management dimensions, including technical, financial, sustainability, and time management. The findings demonstrate that BIM-financial strategies rank most among BIM-driven risk management, followed by sustainability and time. In contrast, Technical, Operation, and maintenance capabilities have the lowest rank. Given the high priority of BIM financial strategies, it has been applied to conduct sensitivity analysis; the sensitivity analysis results demonstrate the dynamic nature of BIM sub-criteria strategy in response to changes in the weight of financial considerations. As financial concerns diminish, the shift towards sustainability, health, safety, and time efficiency underscores the importance of a more balanced approach in BIM strategy prioritization. BIM- risk management improves project outcomes by enabling real-time data-driven decision-making, enhancing stakeholder collaboration, and optimizing resource use, cost control, and sustainability. This research contributes to theoretical and practical advancements in construction risk management, suggesting that BIM can be a transformative tool for optimizing project performance while addressing the complexities and uncertainties inherent in the construction industry.

In underwater clustering and benchmark networks, nodes need to reduce the rate and energy consumption of acoustic communication while ensuring synchronization accuracy. In large-scale networks, the improvement of the efficiency of existing network time synchronization often relies on optimization of topological structures, and the improvement in efficiency within local areas is limited. This paper proposes a method to synchronize underwater time using the probability graph model. The method utilizes the positional and motion status information of sensor networks to construct a factor graph model for distributed network synchronization. By simplifying the marginal probability density function of the system clock difference, it can quickly calculate the clock difference parameters of nodes, thereby effectively improving the synchronization efficiency. Experimental results show that the method can complete global time synchronization within a cycle while achieving a clock difference correction accuracy higher than seconds, significantly optimizing the synchronization period and efficiency, and reducing the energy consumption of acoustic communication.

This paper presents in detail the foundation of security theory for ``Quantum stream cipher based on Holevo-Yuen theory". This type of cipher is a technology that provides information-theoretic security (ITS) to optical data transmission by randomizing ultrafast optical communication signals with quantum noise. In general, a quantitative security of ITS is discussed in terms of unicity distance in Shannon theory. However, the quantum version requires modeling beyond the Shannon model of random cipher to utilize the characteristics of the physical layer. Therefore, as first step, one has to develop a generalized unicity distance theory and apply it to evaluation of security. Although a complete theoretical formulation has not yet been established, this paper attempts to give a primitive structure of a generalization of Shannon random cipher and shows that the realization of this is generalized quantum stream cipher. In addition, we introduce several implementation methods of the generalized quantum stream ciphers and their security performances.

Considering the evolution of search engine optimization (SEO) methods, it is crucial to generate and update relevant keywords continuously based on trends in a dynamic method to maintain the relevance and visibility of a web page, which enhances user engagement. To automate the process of continuous SEO, this paper proposes a method called AutoTrendyKeywords to leverage large language models (LLMs) to automate the constant generation of SEO keywords and the selection of trending keywords based on changing data. Unlike the manual selection method, the new system automatically uses real-time trend data from sources such as Google Trends. This unsupervised approach ensures up-to-date relevance of the page and can ensure satisfactory traffic for pages in unpopular languages when the web is dominated by content in popular languages. Additionally, the system offers transparency to understand the reason behind each keyword selected. The method streamlines the keyword update process for digital content creators and marketers by eliminating the need for manual intervention, thereby constantly ensuring visibility across search results. The system has wide-ranging societal benefits, such as facilitating access to desired information and promoting diverse languages. The system successfully generated keywords using an LLM, selected the most trending keywords, generated a title and description of the page for SEO, and integrated the keywords and the description into HTML code. The system generated URL paths that are short and contain the trending keywords.

We implement a simulation environment on top of NetSquid that is specifically designed for estimating the end-to-end fidelity across a path of quantum repeaters or quantum switches. The switch model includes several generalizations which are not currently available in other tools, and are useful for gaining insight into practical and realistic quantum network engineering problems: an arbitrary number of memory registers at the switches, simplicity in including entanglement distillation mechanisms, arbitrary switching topologies, and more accurate models for the depolarization noise. An illustrative case study is presented, namely a comparison in terms of performance between a repeater chain where repeaters can only swap sequentially, and a single switch equipped with multiple memory registers, able to handle multiple swapping requests.

Trajectory planning determines whether a UAV can successfully complete its mission, and the reasonable planning of UAV trajectory in 3D environment is a complex global optimization problem, which needs to take into account many constraints such as urban environment, mountain terrain, obstacles, no-fly zones, flight boundaries, flight distances, and trajectory change rates. In view of the shortcomings of the whale optimization algorithm in 3D trajectory planning, such as slow convergence speed, low accuracy and easy to fall into the local optimum, this paper increases the diversity of the initial population through the introduction of the reverse learning mechanism, and optimizes the coordination of the global and local search ability by integrating the nonlinear convergence factor and the random number generating mechanism, so as to realize the improved whale optimization algorithm that can cope with the higher degree of freedom and the more complex constraints. The simulation results show that the optimization algorithm has improved the convergence accuracy by 22.1% and reduced the standard deviation by 74.1%, which can effectively deal with the 3D UAV path planning problem.

Predicting credit default risk is important to financial institutions, as accurately predicting the likelihood of a borrower defaulting on their loans will help to reduce financial losses, thereby maintaining profitability and stability. Although machine learning models have been used in assessing large applications with complex attributes for these predictions, there is still a need to identify the most effective techniques and to also address the issue of data imbalance. In this research, we conducted a comparative analysis of random forest, decision tree, SVM (Support Vector Machine), XGBoost (eXtreme Gradient Boosting), ADABoost (ADAptive Boosting) and multilayered perceptron with three-hidden layers, to predict credit default using loan data from LendingClub. Additionally, we also combined the model predictions using voting and stacking ensemble methods to enhance the models' performance. Furthermore, various sampling techniques was explored to handle the issue of class imbalance observed in the dataset, with the result showing that the balanced data performs better than the imbalanced data. Our proposed model achieved an accuracy of 93.7%, a precision of 95.6% and a recall of 95.5%, which shows the potential of ensemble methods in improving credit default predictions and can provide lending platforms with the tool to reduce default rates and financial losses. In conclusion, the findings from this study have broader implications for financial institutions, offering a robust approach to risk assessment beyond the Lend-ingClub dataset.

Soil salinization is an essential risk factor for agricultural development as well as for food security, and how to obtain regional soil salinity information more reliably remains a priority problem to be solved. To improve the accuracy of the inversions for soil salinity, a new inversion model for soil salinity based on stacking integrated algorithm for learning was submitted for this work which took the prediction results of several basic models as new features and then trained a secondary model to fuse the prediction results of basic models. We compared and analyzed it against four machine learning regression models, namely, random forest (RF), back propagation neural network, support vector regression, and convolutional neural network. Findings indicated the stacking integrated learning regression model fitted better and had good stability, on the test set, the stacking integrated learning regression model showed a relative increase of 8.16% in R2, a relative decrease of 13.95% in RMSE, and a relative increase of 6.47% in RPD when compared to the RF model, which was the single most effective machine learning regression model, and the stacking model was able to achieve soil salinity inversion more accurately. The soil salinity in the oasis areas of the Manas River Basin tended to decrease from north to south in 2016 to 2020 from a spatial point of view, and it was reduced in April from a temporal point of view. The percentage of pixels with a high soil salinity content of 2.75–2.8 g/kg in the study area had decreased by 19.64% in April 2020 compared to April 2016. The innovatively constructed stacking integrated learning regression model improved the accuracy of soil salinity estimation on the basis of the superior results obtained in the training of the single optimal machine learning regression model. As a consequence, this model can provide technological backup for a fast monitoring and inversion of soil salinity as well as prevention and containment of salinization.

Corrugated boards are used for packaging because of their high strength-to-weight ratio, recyclability, and biodegradability. They have an orthotropic sandwich structure with unique characteristics for each direction owing to their flute shape. In this study, the bending behavior was qualitatively analyzed for various variables through an FE-based simulation, and the possibility of an alternative test method for the four-point bending test on a corrugated board was examined through a similarity analysis with the experimental results. The cross-machine direction (CD) bending stiffness through finite element analysis (FEA) simulation was closely related to the thickness of the corrugated board. In AB-flute-double-wall (AB/F-DW), the difference in CD bending stiffness based on the bending direction was approximately 17.2% in the FEA simulation and approximately 10.5% in the experiment. However, the differences in the bending behavior (bending force vs. deflection plot) and bending stiffness based on the phase shift between the two flutes constituting BB-flute-double-wall (BB/F-DW) were insignificant. Overall, the CD bending behavior of the corrugated board was simulated relatively well through FEA simulation. However, it was impossible to simulate the machine-direction (MD) bending behavior through FE-based simulation because of a decrease in convergence and a large error caused by the variability of the contact condition of the modeled test specimen with a non-uniform MD cross-section.

Coupling faults that occur simultaneously widely exist in the operation of mechanical equipment, and coupling fault features are formed by nonlinear coupling of multiple base fault features. In this paper, hypergraph neural network is used to obtain the characteristics of coupling faults, and two coupling fault diagnosis frameworks based on hypergraph are provided. 1. Coupling fault diagnosis framework based on feature generation: The hypergraph neural network is used as a generator to provide negative samples for discriminator training. The generator outputs hyperedge vectors as fake samples, and each hyperedge connects a base fault containing a fault type. 2. Coupling fault diagnosis framework based on feature extraction: Each node is regarded as a fault type, and the fault characteristics of each type of fault are extracted through the aggregation operation of hypergraph. The attention mechanism is introduced to realize the dynamic adjustment of the hyperedge, and the dynamic vertex is used to classify the unknown faults. The results show that the diagnostic accuracy of coupling faults under the two frameworks reaches 88.6% and 86.76%, respectively.

The world is currently facing an energy crisis. To solve the problem, many countries have been exploring renewable energy sources. However, the existing renewable energy sources are highly dependent on weather changes, necessitating the utilization of significantly expensive and large storage batteries.As a solution, we propose a system for generating renewable energy. The proposed system comprises a current source and a voltage source connected in series. With appropriate adjustments, the current source supplies current without voltage and the voltage source provides voltage without current. Considering that electric power is a product of current and voltage, electric power is generated from the interaction between the current source and voltage source. In our previous study, the same result was obtained; however, the output voltage was low, which resulted in a low amount of generated energy. In this study, by introducing some ingenuities, we successfully increased the output voltage. Consequently, we succeeded in powering a light-emitting diode and charging a super-condenser to the standard voltage. Using this system, we generated a relatively large amount of energy in the right place and at the right time, validating our systems’ robustness to changes in weather. The large-scale adoption of our system could contribute to solving the global energy crisis.

With the widespread adoption of 3D scanners, reverse engineering methods for obtaining CAD drawings from physical objects have become increasingly utilized. When converting point data obtained from a 3D scanner into a mesh structure, a smoothing process is typically applied because the point data often contains a lot of noise. However, this can result in the loss of important high-frequency details, or in cases where significant high-frequency information remains, there are limitations in representing the object with basic geometric shapes. In this paper, a method to address this issue by using environment mapping and supervised learning techniques is proposed. By mapping the object to an environment and then using supervised learning to analyze the data, it can accurately identify the basic geometric shapes. This approach reduces the working time and allows for easier design of complex surfaces that were previously difficult to model.

Unmanned aerial vehicle UAV has become an important tool for emergency communication. When disaster happens, the roads in the disaster area always are seriously damaged, and theground infrastructure communication facilities are damaged. Under emergency conditions, UAV can go into key areas as communication nodes to provide communication services for users in the area.But it's difficult for UAV to cover the entire disaster area and the efficient rescue time will be delayed. Therefore, how to make the UAV accurately perceive the regional situation and deployed in the right position is worth studying. In this paper, a virtual simulation environment is established reasonably and deep reinforcement learning algorithm is used to train UAV agents. At the same time, a series of problems such as sparse reward and long training time are still not solved in the development of reinforcement learning algorithms,and the reward function is designed to improve training efficiency. First of all, we set a specific mountain emergency communication scenario, and combined with the specific application of the UAV to carry out virtual simulation, and build a virtual environment. Furthermore, an additional shaped reward function is designed to address the sparse reward problem. Through the improvement of deep Q-learning network DQN algorithm and the reward design based on potential function, the final evaluation index is improved, and the effectiveness of the algorithm is verified. The experimental results demonstrate our work can effectively shorten the training time and increase convergencerate.

Traditional thermal insulation panels consume large amounts of energy during production and emits pollutants into the environment. To mitigate this impact, the development of bio-based materials is an attractive alternative. In this context, the characteristics of the Eucalyptus fiber bark (EGFB) make it a candidate for insulation applications. However, more knowledge about the manufacturing process and in-service performance is needed. The present study characterized the properties that determinate the in-service behaviour of the EGFB insulation panel. The assessment involved two different manufacturing process. The results indicated that the hot plates and the saturated steam injection manufacturing system can produce panels with similar theoretical and bulk density. The thermal conductivity fluctuated between 0.064 and 0.077 W/m.K, which indicated good insulation. Furthermore, the values obtained for thermal diffusivity and water vapor transmission properties are comparable with other commercially available panels. To guarantee a good in-service performance, the panels need to be treated with flame retardant and antifungal additive. The good performance of the panel is relevant because bio-based Eucalyptus bark panels generate less CO2 eq and require less energy consumption compared to traditional alternatives, contributing to the sustainability of the forestry and the construction industry.

A superparamagnetic graphene oxide based drug carrier Fe3O4@SiO2/N–rGO was prepared through surface modification, material doping, and composite methods. This carrier has a large number of active sites, suitable for loading anticancer drugs, It can increase the drug load. Currently, the widely used drug in clinical use is epirubicin hydrochloride (EPI). The graphene based complex has a pH sensitive property and exhibits a pH sensitive property at pH=4.3. The release efficiency (RE) is 77.4%, making it suitable for drug release in cancerous acidic liquids. The physicochemical properties of drug carriers were studied using X–ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Electrochemical signals confirm that the anticancer drug EPI acts on the graphene plane through hydrogen bond interactions and π – π stacking.

In vitro circular RNA (circRNA) preparation methods have been gaining a lot of attention recently as several reports suggest that circRNAs are more stable with better performances in cells and in vivo than linear RNAs in various biomedical applications. Self-splicing ribozymes are considered a major in vitro circRNA generation method for biomedical applications due to their simplicity and efficiency in circularization of gene of interest. This review summarizes updates and discusses recently developed self-circularization methods based on the self-splicing ribozyme such as group I and II intron ribozymes and pros and cons of each method to prepare circRNA in vitro.

This study constructs a comprehensive line loss management evaluation knowledge graph, considering the impact of various factors such as power grid structure characteristics, equipment's physical parameters, power grid operation characteristics, electricity consumption features, and natural conditions. It establishes the association between line loss characteristics and line loss retrieval and configures the data source for line loss management evaluation indicators. Based on Principal Component Analysis (PCA), this study selects comprehensive evaluation indicators for line loss management, verifies the rationality of the indicators, and proposes an integrated evaluation method for municipal power grid line loss management. A full-process composite evaluation method based on DEMATEL-Entropy Weight-TOPSIS is constructed, and the accuracy of the evaluation method is verified through ablation experiments. The TOPSIS analysis method is applied to empirical research on cross-sectional data from a city in Guangxi from 2012 to 2022 to validate the evaluation system's effectiveness, scientific nature, and objectivity. The case analysis shows that the line loss evaluation index system established in this paper effectively reduces the redundancy of line loss data and can objectively and rationally reflect the actual status of line loss management work, serving as a basis for decision-making in future line loss management evaluations.

The research highlights the importance of robust security measures, thorough integration strategies, and effective change management practices in overcoming these obstacles. The strategic outcomes of adopting cloud-based SCM solutions include improved operational efficiency, enhanced inventory management, and increased customer satisfaction. Additionally, organizations gain a competitive edge through better supplier coordination and greater responsiveness to market changes. Overall, the study demonstrates that while cloud-based SCM solutions offer substantial benefits, their successful adoption hinges on effectively managing associated challenges and leveraging their transformative potential.

The usage of classic segmentation methods has drastically decreased recently. Implementation of convolutional neural networks and their modifications leads to significantly improved results. With the help of U-net, you can perform automatic segmentation. However, this requires significantly more hardware and software resources. The use of cloud computing now provides a wide range of possibilities, which allows processing and sharing the obtained experience and results to improve the quality of diagnosis. This article presents an approach to implementing MLOPS for automatic image segmentation using U-net technology. The approach's key feature is the developed software block that allows the creation of a dataset based on given rules. The infrastructure also supports automatically deploying the necessary environment on the cloud, particularly on DigitalOcean.

Renal cancer is a common and serious malignant tumor of the urinary system. While surgery effectively treats early-stage renal cancer, advanced cases pose a significant challenge due to poor treatment outcomes and chemotherapy resistance. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop alternative therapeutic strategies. Ferroptosis is a newly defined form of programmed cell death characterized by the accumulation of iron-dependent lipid peroxides, which plays a critical role in tumor progression and drug resistance. Recent studies have shown that ferroptosis is involved in the occurrence and development of renal cancer, ferroptosis related genes can induce cell apoptosis, and can be used as potential biomarkers for early diagnosis of renal cancer and participate in drug resistance of renal cancer chemotherapy. With the continuous improvement of the mechanism of ferroptosis, drugs targeting ferroptosis for the treatment of renal cancer are emerging in an endless stream, Based on the theoretical basis of the occurrence of ferroptosis, this paper reviewed drug-induced ferroptosis in renal cancer cells from the aspects of herbal medicine, natural compounds, drug resistance mechanisms, and nanomaterials, hoping to provide a new strategy for the treatment of renal cancer with ferroptosis related drugs.

Ever since the discovery of dendritic cells by Ralph Steinman and Zanvil Cohn in 1973, it is increasingly evident that dendritic cells are integral for adaptive immune responses, and there is an undeniable focus on them for vaccines development. Fungal infections, often thought in-nocuous, are becoming significant threats due to increased immunocompromised or im-mune-suppressed population and climate change. Further, the recent COVID-19 pandemic unraveled the wrath of fungal infections and devastating outcomes. Invasive fungal infections cause significant case fatality rates ranging from 20% to 90%. Regrettably, no licensed fungal vaccines exist, and there is an urgent need for preventive and therapeutic purposes. In this re-view, we discuss the ontogeny, subsets, tissue distribution, and functions of lung dendritic cells. In the latter part, we summarize and discuss the studies on the DC-based vaccines against pulmonary fungal infections. Finally, we highlight some emerging potential avenues that can be incorporated for DC-based vaccines against fungal infections.

The task of human action recognition (HAR) based on skeleton data is a challenging yet crucial technique owing to its wide-ranging applications in numerous domains, including patient monitoring, security surveillance, and observation of human-machine interactions. While numerous algorithms have been proposed in an attempt to distinguish between a myriad of activities, most practical applications necessitate highly accurate detection of specific activity types. This study proposes a novel and highly accurate spatiotemporal graph autoencoder network for HAR based on skeleton data. Furthermore, an extensive investigation was conducted employing diverse modalities. To this end, a spatiotemporal graph autoencoder was constructed to automatically learn both spatial and temporal patterns from human skeleton datasets. The powerful graph convolutional network, designated as GA-GCN, developed in this study, notably outperforms the majority of existing state-of-the-art methods when evaluated on two common datasets, namely NTU RGB+D and NTU RGB+D 120. On the first dataset, the proposed approach achieved accuracies of 92.3\% and 96.8\% for the cross-subject and cross-view evaluations, respectively. On the more challenging NTU RGB+D 120 dataset, GA-GCN attained accuracies of 88.8\% and 90.4\% for the cross-subject and cross-set evaluations, respectively.

New strategies for enhancing drug delivery to the blood–brain barrier (BBB) represents a major challenge in treating cerebral diseases. Nano-emulsion based nanocarriers represent an ideal candidate to improve drug delivery thanks to their versatility in functionalization and cargo protection. In this work, a paclitaxel loaded nano-emulsion has been firstly functionalized and stabilized with two layers constituted of chitosan and hyaluronic acid, and, secondly, the latter has been conjugated to the CRT peptide. CRT is a bioactive peptide that selectively recognizes bEnd.3 cells, model of the BBB, thanks to its interactions with transferrin (Tf) and its receptor (TfR). Cytotoxic results showed a higher uptake of CRT functionalized nano-emulsion 41.5 % more than the negative control, demonstrating the ability of this novel tool to be accumulated on the brain endothelium tissue. Thanks to these results, our approach can be fully generalizable to the design of multifunctional nanocarriers for delivery of therapeutic agents to the central nervous systems.

Credit business is a vital part of the bank's core business, which has an extremely important impact on the bank's income and development. In the operation of credit business, credit risk assessment is particularly crucial, and accurate risk assessment can minimize risks while maximizing the bank's returns. We propose a method to optimize credit risk assessment using machine learning techniques. In this work, we employ a random forest machine learning model to process and analyze large amounts of loan application data. By using correlation analysis, information enrichment, etc., the characteristics that have the most impact on credit risk assessment are screened. Subsequently, the model was constructed using a random forest algorithm. Random forests improve the generalization ability and accuracy of the model by building multiple decision trees and introducing randomness between these trees. In the experimental analysis part, we compare the performance of various models on the German credit dataset, and the results show that the deep learning model outperforms the traditional machine learning model in most indicators, verifying the effectiveness of our method.

Abstract: Flexible pressure sensors are electronic devices that can be attached to various irregular surfaces to measure the pressure. It is widely used in wearable devices and for health detection. In this study, a general carbon nanotubes/polydimethylsiloxane (CNTs/PDMS) sponge electrode was fabricated as the elementary component of the compressible system. The sensitivity of the flexible pressure sensor is improved by optimizing the preparation process of the conductive sponge and surface modification of the CNTs, and the highest sensitivity reached 71.831 kPa-1(0~2 kPa). The flexible pressure sensor can be used to detect subtle pressure quickly and accurately so that it can be used as wearable sensor to measure the radial artery wave of a human body, which has potential applications in health care and other fields.

Securing funding is a critical yet complex task for organizations and individuals. This study presents an innovative chatbot designed to streamline the process using advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and, specifically, a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipeline optimized for real-world applications. Our chatbot assists users in identifying suitable public tenders for financial support through natural language queries and a comprehensive public data database. The chatbot operates in a two-stage interaction model, initially providing summarized tender information for exploratory brainstorming, followed by detailed data upon user selection. A custom filtering mechanism ensures that the user interface elements responsible for swapping the interaction stages are consistent with the responses generated by the conversational agent. Human-evaluation tests demonstrated an average accuracy of 90.4% in document retrieval, with an average of 2.11 interactions required to find a specific tender. User satisfaction, rated on a scale of 1 to 5, averaged 3.14 (±1.73), indicating generally positive user experience with room for improvement. This approach addresses challenges of relevance, accuracy, and conversational flow, resulting in a reliable chatbot that simplifies the process of finding funding opportunities.

In computer vision, human action recognition is a hot topic, popularized by the development of deep learning. Current models have achieved high accuracy results on public datasets. Despite this success, they require significant computational resources for training. Given that transfer learning based techniques allow reusing what other models have already learned and training models with less computational resources, in this work we propose using a transfer learning based approach for action recognition in videos. We describe a methodology for human action recognition using transfer learning techniques in a custom dataset. The proposed method consists of four stages: 1) human detection and tracking, 2) video preprocessing, 3) feature extraction (using pretrained models with ImageNet), and 4) action recognition using a two-stream model consisting of TCNs, LSTMs, and CNNs layers. The custom dataset is imbalanced with 189, 390, 490, 854, and 890 videos per class, respectively. For feature extraction, we analyzed the performance of seven pretrained models: Inception-v3, MobileNet-v2, MobileNet-v3-L, VGG-16, VGG-19, Xception, and ConvNeXt-L. We show that the best results were obtained with the last one. Finally, using pretrained models for feature extraction allowed training in a PC with a single GPU with an accuracy of 94.9%.

The majority of local IPv6 networks continue to remain insecure and vulnerable to neighbor spoofing attacks. The Secure Neighbor Discovery (SEND) standard and its concomitant Cryptographically Generated Addressing (CGA) scheme were accepted by large standards bodies to codify practical mitigations. SEND and CGA have never seen widespread adoption due to their complexities, obscurity, costs, compatibility issues, and continued lack of mature implementations. In light of their poor adoption, research since their standardization has continued to find new perspectives and proffer new ideas. The orthodox solutions for securing Neighbor Discovery have historically struggled to successfully harmonize three core ideals: simplicity, flexibility, and privacy preservation. This research introduces Voucher-Based Addressing, a low-configuration, low-cost, and high-impact alternative to IPv6 address generation methods. It secures the Neighbor Discovery address resolution process while remaining simple, highly adaptable, indistinguishable, and privacy-focused. Applying a unique concoction of cryptographic key derivation functions, link-layer address binding, and neighbor consensus on the parameters of address generation, resolved address bindings are verifiable without the need for complex techniques that have hindered the adoption of canonical specifications.

There is a growing demand for indoor positioning systems (IPS) in a wide range of applications. However, traditional solutions such as GPS face many technical challenges. In recent years, a promising alternative has been emerging: IPS based on visible light communication (VLC), which offers a combination of which is highly accurate, low cost and energy efficient. This article presents a comprehensive review of VLC-based IPS, providing a tutorial-like overview of the system. It begins by comparing various positioning systems and providing background information on their inherent limitations. The mechanisms of VLC-based IPS are then discussed, including a comprehensive examination of their performance metrics and underlying assumptions. The complexity and efficiency of VLC-based IPS is examined by analyzing factors such as channel modeling, signal processing, and localization algorithms. To optimize the system, a variety of strategies are explored. These include the design of efficient modulation schemes, the development of advanced encoding and decoding algorithms, the implementation of adaptive power control, and the use of state-of-the-art localization algorithms. Additionally, system parameters such as LED placement, receiver sensitivity, and transmit power are carefully examined to highlight their impact on energy efficiency and localization accuracy. Altogether, this paper serves as a comprehensive guide to VLC IPS, providing in-depth insights into its vast potential and the challenges it presents.

Drug-target binding is an essential parameter in drug discovery and design to ensure drug efficacy and specificity. In 2022, the concept of a general intermolecular binding affinity calculator (GIBAC) was for the first time coined: $Kd = f(molecules, envPara)$. Technically, GIBAC represents a set of in silico approaches for structural and biophysical data generation towards a paradigm shift in precise drug discovery and design, providing a comprehensive framework for intermolecular binding affinity calculation with adequate accuracy, precision and efficiency. For the first time, this study reports a prototype of GIBAC (semaGIBAC), i.e., a one-dimensional semaglutide-GLP-1R-based mini static GIBAC, based on an experimental complex structure of semaglutide and GLP-1R. Semaglutide is a potent GLP-1 receptor agonist used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus by regulating blood glucose levels and promoting weight loss. In 2021, a structural modification involving a Val27-Arg28 exchange was manually introduced to enhance semaglutide-GLP-1R binding affinity. This study employs a comprehensive structural and biophysical analysis aimed at thoroughly exploring the sequence space of semaglutide-GLP-1R to design analogues with improved binding affinity, leading to the identification of a promising semaglutide analogue, which binds to GLP-1R with an affinity that is more than two orders of magnitude (113.3 times) higher than native semaglutide. To sum up, this article puts forward a promising structural biophysical approach for developing GLP-1 receptor agonists with enhanced efficacy, and with a GIBAC prototype (semaGIBAC), this article argues again that the time is now ripe for the construction of a real GIBAC to be listed on the agenda of the drug discovery and design community.

The number of visible navigation satellites in a multi-constellation system increases exponentially compared to a single constellation, significantly increasing the complexity of the system state equations in the data fusion algorithm of a tightly coupled navigation system. This results in an exponential increase in the computation volume for navigation and positioning, seriously affecting real-time performance. To address this, a low-cost, low-computation satellite screening algorithm is proposed. It adaptively changes the number of constellation satellites by setting different screening thresholds and adjusting the number of remaining satellites. The algorithm then sorts and differentiates the azimuth and elevation angles of the screened satellites to form a selection strategy that divides the space region multiple times, enabling fast satellite selection. This approach greatly reduces the calculation amount while ensuring positioning accuracy. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm maintains positioning differences within 5 meters compared to traditional satellite selection algorithms, and the time consumed for selecting a single epoch is greatly reduced. This indicates that the algorithm is suitable for low-cost multi-constellation satellite positioning systems.

We experimentally demonstrate waveguide and microring resonator (MRR) polarizers by integrating 2D graphene oxide (GO) films onto silicon (Si) photonic devices. The 2D GO films with highly anisotropic light absorption are on-chip integrated with precise control over their thicknesses and sizes. Detailed measurements are performed for the fabricated devices with different GO film thicknesses, coating lengths, and Si waveguide widths. The results show that a maximum polarization-dependent loss (PDL) of ~17 dB is achieved for the hybrid waveguides, and the hybrid MRRs achieved a maximum polarization extinction ratio (PER) of ~10 dB. We also characterize the wavelength- and power-dependent response for these polarizers. The former demonstrates a broad operation bandwidth of over ~100 nm, and the latter verifies performance improvement enabled by photo-thermal changes in GO films. By fitting the experimental results with theoretical simulations, we find that the anisotropy in the loss of GO films dominates the polarization selectivity of these devices. These results highlight the strong potential of 2D GO films for realizing high-performance polarization selective devices in Si photonic platform.

Pathogenic adenovirus (Ad) infections are widespread but typically mild and transient, except in the immunocompromised. As vectors for gene therapy, vaccine and oncology applications, Ad based platforms offer advantages including ease of genetic manipulation, scale of production and well established safety profiles, making them attractive tools for therapeutic development. However, the immune system often poses a significant challenge that may need to be overcome for adenovirus based therapies to be truly efficacious. Both pre-existing anti-Ad immunity in the population as well as the rapid development of an immune response against engineered adenoviral vectors can have detrimental effects upon the downstream impact of an adenovirus-based therapeutic. This review focusses on the different challenges posed, including pre-existing natural immunity and anti-vector immunity induced by a therapeutic, both in context of the innate and adaptive immune responses. We summarize different approaches developed with the aim of tackling these problems, as well as their outcomes and potential future applications.

In this work, the structural dynamics of a commercial quadrotor was investigated, which presents problems of lateral stability or sliding instead of remaining self-leveling through its autonomous control system. The possible existence of vibrations motivated the characterization of the frequency response of the arms and propellers by means of the frequency response function (FRF) using the impact hammer technique. The experimental results provided sufficient information for the future implementation of structural solutions or through reprogramming in the autonomous control algorithm that compensates or mitigates the negative effect of vibration levels due to resonance phenomenon and improves the stability in self-leveling condition of the quadrotor.

Pulsating high frequency voltage injection can be used for sensorless control of SPMSM at zero and low speed ranges. However, the sensorless capability still faces challenges to the requirements of industrial application, especially at heavy load status. Aiming at this issue, this article proposes a sensorless capability expansion method for SPMSM based on inductance parameter identification. First, incremental inductances at d-q-axis and cross-coupling inductance are identified by three steps combining the rotating high frequency voltage injection and pulsating high frequency voltage injection, then, using polynomial curve fitting algorithm, apparent inductances are calculated. Second, positive DC current injection at d-axis is proposed to enhance the saliency ratio based on the analysis of parameter identification results. Compared with the conventional =0 or &lt; 0 method, when positive DC current is injected at d-axis, saliency ratio is enhanced. Third, convergence region is expanded at heavy load status and accuracy of rotor position estimation is improved using the proposed method. Finally, the experiment results validate that the sensorless capability of SPMSM is expanded.

The deaf-mute and individuals with hearing disabilities who communicate through sign language should not be overlooked or excluded. It is a social responsibility to strive for an inclusive world without inequality. Advances in technology offer various solutions to address the communication gap, one of which is the use of computer-based sign language recognition systems. This project proposes a Malaysian Sign Language recognition model utilizing MobileNetV1, a convolutional neural network-based algorithm, to interpret sign language in real-time settings through a website application using Streamlit. The outcome of the model test shows that it has achieved a recognition rate of 96 percent. Although the proposed model has demonstrated the ability to recognize sign language, it is suggested that further improvement can be achieved by enhancing the quality and diversity of the dataset. The implementation of a more comprehensive dataset would lead to improved performance and increased accuracy of the model. This project underscores the importance of considering and accommodating the needs of the deaf-mute and individuals with hearing disabilities and highlights the potential of technology to bridge communication barriers and achieve a more inclusive society.

As modern technologies, particularly home assistant devices, become more integrated into our daily lives, they are also making their way into the domain of energy management within our homes. Homeowners, now acting as prosumers, have access to detailed information in 15-minute or even 5-minute intervals, including weather forecasts, outputs from Renewable Energy Sources (RES)-based systems, appliance schedules and the current energy balance, which details any deficits or surpluses along with their quantities and the predicted prices on the Local Energy Market (LEM). The goal for these prosumers is to reduce costs while ensuring their home’s comfort levels are maintained. However, given the complexity and the rapid decision-making required in managing this information, the need for a supportive system is evident. This is particularly true given the routine nature of these decisions, highlighting the potential for a system that provides personalized recommendations to optimize energy consumption, whether that involves adjusting the load or engaging in transactions with the LEM. In this context, we propose a recommendation system powered by Large Language Models (LLM), Scikit-llm and Zero-Shot Classifiers, designed to evaluate specific scenarios and offer tailored advice for prosumers based on the available data at any given moment. Two scenarios for a prosumer of 5.9 kW are assessed using candidate labels, such as Decrease, Increase, Sell and Buy.
