Accurate classification of objects in 3D point clouds is a significant problem in several applications, such as autonomous navigation and augmented/virtual reality scenarios, which has become a research hot spot. In this paper, we presented a deep learning strategy for 3D object classification in augmented reality. The proposed approach is a combination of the GRU and LSTM. LSTM networks learn longer dependencies well, but due to the number of gates, it takes longer to train; on the other hand, GRU networks have a weaker performance than LSTM, but their training speed is much higher than GRU, which is The speed is due to its fewer gates. The proposed approach used the combination of speed and accuracy of these two networks. The proposed approach achieved an accuracy of 0.99 in the 4,499,0641 points dataset, which includes eight classes (unlabeled, man-made terrain, natural terrain, high vegetation, low vegetation, buildings, hardscape, scanning artifacts, cars). Meanwhile, the traditional machine learning approaches could achieve a maximum accuracy of 0.9489 in the best case.

Considering the prevalence of cropping pattern in many Saffron cultivation regions, the continuous cropping obstacle caused the decline in growth and development. These effects justify the necessity of studying agronomic strategies to promote plant quality and production. Herein, the mono cropping, intercrop of Paulownia and Saffron, and intercrop of Soybean and Saffron patterns have been performed. The metabolites of Saffron under three cropping patterns were determined and identified using by an ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method. Uni and multivariate statistical analysis were applied to examine the difference between groups and select the significant differential accumulated metabolites. The results showed that a total of 315 compounds were significantly changed in three comparison groups. Phenylalanine metabolism, linoleic acid metabolism, and flavonoid biosynthesis pathway has been greatly enriched by the changed metabolites. The phenyl lactate, trans-2-Hydroxy-cinnamate, γ-Linolenate, 9-oxo-octadecadienoic acid, 13-0xo-0ctadecadienoic acid, 9,12,13-TriHOME of those metabolites showed significant differential accumulation in Saffron under three cropping patterns. And the accumulation of safranal and picrocrocin related compounds, such as Crocetin, Crocin showed a similar variation regularity. These indicate that there may be a close internal relationship between the cropping pattern and the biosynthesis of metabolites related to endogenous substances and Saffron quality formation.

Abstract: Brassinosteroids (BR) are essential plant hormones that play a crucial role in regulating plant growth and development, as well as their resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses, including pathogen infections. In the context of plant im-munity, BR influence various processes such as the expression of genes related to pathogen defense, the production of antimicrobial compounds, and the re-inforcement of the plant cell structure. The aim of work is understand the role of BR in plant defense against abiotic and biotic stresses. BR are involved in the regulation of metabolic processes, water economy, and photosynthesis, contributing to increased plant resistance to abiotic stresses. The study discusses various mechanisms of BR action on plant immunity, including the regulation of gene expression related to defense, activation of the plant defense system, in-teraction with other plant hormones, regulation of water and salt balance, and influence on photosynthetic processes. In the context of plant immunity, BR influence various processes, including the expression of genes related to pathogen defense, the production of antimicrobial compounds, and the reinforcement of the plant cell structure. Additionally, BR are involved in the regulation of metabolic processes, water economy, and photosynthesis, con-tributing to increased plant resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses. The paper emphasizes the importance of further research on the role and mechanisms of action of BR in plant immunity, which may contribute to the development of more effective strategies for the use of BR in agriculture, horticulture, and plant protection.

Background: Sexual dysfunction is the most common side effect encountered by cervical cancer patients during and after treatment, and rehabilitation strategies are needed to improve their quality of life. A variety of rehabilitation strategies have been reported in previous studies, varying by country, race and even continent. However, the common rehabilitation strategies used by cervical cancer survivors in Tanzania and their outcomes are unknown. The study aimed to unfold sexual rehabilitation strategies and outcome practiced by cervical cancer survivors who experienced sexual dysfunction during and after treatment in North-western Tanzania. Methods: Descriptive qualitative study were employed. Phenomenology study design used with a sample of 7 participants and data corrected via in-depth interview guided by 11 questions. Audiotaped and transcribed to get main themes and sub themes through deductive analysis. Results: Most participants reported inability to achieve an orgasm and low libido and dyspareunia after treatment. Most participants were eagerly to have their sexual activity recovered. However, they were not familiar with any rehabilitation strategy after the experience of sexual dysfunction. Even though, some of the participants attempted various interventions, but all were unsatisfactory leading to a significant decline in sexual interest and activity. Conclusion: Cervical cancer survivors are not familiar with any sexual rehabilitation strategies. Health education concerning various sexual rehabilitation strategies should be provided to survivors during and even after treatment.

In this paper, we introduce a novel controlled quantum communication protocol utilizing a quantum random walk involving one sender, one receiver, and multiple controllers. Inspired by classical random walk theory, quantum random walk serves as the foundation of our proposed protocol. With this protocol, we demonstrate the ability to transfer any n- dimensional quantum state to any party facilitated by any m number of controllers. Furthermore, any of the (m+1) individuals has the freedom to accept the role of the receiver. Rigorous testing of the protocol’s performance is conducted through quantum state tomography. We have run different variations of the circuits in IBMQ QASM simulator. Additionally, we explore the effectiveness of a weak measurement-based protocol designed to mitigate amplitude-damping noise’s detrimental effects on quantum states. By analyzing fidelity versus amplitude damping noise-strength plots for scenarios with and without the weak measurement protocol, we provide valuable insights into its protective capabilities across various levels of noise. These find- ings illuminate the protocol’s potential applications in quantum information processing

BackgroundLiving donor liver transplantation offers comparable long-term results to cadaveric donor transplantation. This study analyzes the selection process of living liver donors at a Western transplant center that utilizes both donation forms. MethodsThis retrospective analysis examined potential living donors, collecting medical data and reasons for refusal, and divided patients by indication and urgency for transplantation. ResultsFrom January 2013 to December 2023, 594 potential living donors were assessed at Jena University Hospital. Of these, 124 living donor transplants were performed. During outpatient evaluation, 357 potential donors were excluded. Subsequently, 238 individuals underwent inpatient assessment, with 100 more being excluded. Main reasons for donor refusal included medical or psychological issues (n=160), disease progression in recipients (n=90), and recipient refusal or donor withdrawal (n=54). The evaluation process showed a trend towards considering more distant relatives and acquaintances as donor candidates with increasing severity of the recipient's disease.

We propose and experimentally realize a scheme of the optical nonreciprocity (ONR) using degenerate two-level atoms embedded in an optical ring cavity. For the degenerate transition Fg=4→Fe=3, we first study the cavity-transmission property in different coupling field, and verify that within the strong-coupling regime, the single-dark-state peak formed by electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) shows ONR. Qualitative theoretical analysis shows that the stable ground-state Zeeman coherence is necessary for intracavity EIT. However, due to the frequency degeneracy, the large Rabi frequency of counter-propagating coupling field can reduce the number of effective atoms and weaken the strong-coupling of the atom-cavity, which determines that ONR based on intracavity EIT occurs only at weaker probe intensity. Furthermore, the ONR transmission with high contrast, linewidth-narrowed and broadband is experimentally demonstrated.

Universities can utilize these findings to create a more supportive environment for counselors by highlighting their impact, offering development opportunities, and fostering a positive work culture. This can ultimately lead to a more motivated and effective counseling team, benefiting both the counselors and the students they serve.

Analysis of the construction of tall buildings is important because of the changes in the microclimate in its vicinity. Ensuring wind comfort and pedestrian safety are critical requirements in urban environments. This paper reports on the wind flow field at the main campus of the Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET), Gazipur, using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to investigate pedestrian wind comfort and safety. The simulations were conducted in ANSYS Fluent employing the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equation. The vertical profile of the streamwise wind speed was validated using the existing observations. The results revealed that the wind speed at the building corners was higher than the air inlet velocity, whereas the wind speeds in the walkways among the buildings were found to vary. The velocity vectors surrounding the building were densely packed, with a recirculation vortex formed in the upstream flow. Furthermore, walkways can display a lower mean wind velocity coupled with high turbulence kinetic energy (TKE). The turbulent kinetic energy is seen to be as high as 1.52 m2 s-2 which exceeds the threshold limit, while wind velocity is 1.81 m/s at the same point. These findings highlight potential pedestrian safety risks and underscore the need for urban design enhancements.

Bio-absorbable stents are a novel tool which relieve stenosis and then resorb as the patient grows, avoiding obligatory re-intervention. This case describes the novel use of an iron bio-absorbable stent in a child with surgically repaired Tetralogy of Fallot who post-operatively developed a severely stenotic right ventricular outflow tract.

It is documented that maternal diseases or treatments influence a newborn’s clinical status at birth; autoimmune diseases with circulating antibodies are often clinically expressed transiently in newborns due to the crossover of the specific IgG through the placenta during pregnancy. The offspring can inherit maternal genetic anomalies, but clinical expression usually becomes patent later in life. If prenatal medical history is not available or if signs or symptoms of a mother’s disease are revealed for the first time during pregnancy or postpartum, their effects on the newborn may be misattributed. In this article, we present three cases of pregnant women, without any known pathology before or during pregnancy, who gave birth to very sick preterm newborns that required admission to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The neonates’ complications were considered initially as consequences of prematurity or infection, but later investigations revealed transient autoimmune disease in two of the cases (myasthenia gravis and hyperthyroidism) and a severe form of thrombophilia in the third case. In all cases, mothers were asymptomatic and unaware of their subclinical disease. Preemies’ diagnosis has contributed to the identification of their mothers’ pathology and adequate treatment was prescribed with favourable short- and long-term outcomes. In one of the cases (myasthenia gravis) both mother and child had associated infectious diseases in the perinatal period that complicated the clinical picture and created problems of diagnosis. This article intends to emphasize the paramount importance of prenatal care, for both mother and newborn. Repeated medical visits and investigations throughout the pregnancy are a good opportunity to detect subclinical diseases or predispositions. As newborns usually develop non-specific signs, one should have experience and pay attention to differentiate among etiologies. Our paper takes a reversed approach to the usual medical diagnosis pathway: from infant to mother instead of mother towards the infant, proving that inter-speciality collaboration can work bi-directionally.

Peri-implant infective diseases seem to be the most common cause for the late dental implant failure. Therefore, peri-implant microbiota has been intensively studied in modern implantology. Many studies showed a presence of extremely varied microflora in cases of peri-implant infective diseases. The main scope of this observational single-blind study was to analyze the presence of some microbial species in a group of patients with clinical signs of peri-implant mucositis compared to two other groups (patients treated with dental implants but without any clinical signs of peri-implant inflammation and patients treated with no dental implants). The identification of microorganisms was followed by an antibiogram in order to find their sensitivity to various antibiotics. The results showed a microbiota not necessarily specific for each situation (peri-implant infective diseases, healthy tissues around dental implants and healthy natural teeth and gums) with species like Candida albicans, Neisseria mucosa, Prevotella, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus and others. Peri-implant infective diseases presented more bacterial species than other conditions.

The theory of Ismail's non-extensive maximum entropy solution (NME) is described in detail. It is used as an inductive inference technique for heavy-tailed queues with a non-robust mean queue length and a non-extensive "long-range" interaction. In our novel method, we substitute the non-robust mean queue length for the conventional Pollaczeck-Khinchin mean queue length. In other words, the new non-extensivity parameter q will be included in the resulting state probability function. Numerical portraits are provided to capture the influential effect of the derived formalism, , on the stable M//1 queue with heavy tails. More potentially, some applications of Hurst Exponent to social computing and connected health are provided. Conclusion with some challenging open problems and possible future research pathways are given.

In this paper, the neural network is developed for solving the inverse photoacoustic problem aiming to estimate thermo-elastic properties and thickness of a semiconductor sample. The idea was that these sample properties be estimated from the phase characteristic because the phase measurements are more sensitive. The neural network has been trained on a large basis of photoacoustic phases calculated from a theoretical Si n-type model in the range of 20Hz to 20kHz, on which random Gaussian noise has been applied. It is shown that high accuracy and precision could be reached in solving of inverse photoacoustic problem using only phase measurement.

The spectrum, intensity and overlap of symptoms between FGIDs and other gastrointestinal disorders characterize patients with FIGDs, who are incredibly different in their backgrounds. An additional challenge with regard to the diagnosis and treatment's applicability is the ongoing expansion of the risk factors believed to be connected to these disorders. Many cytokines and inflammatory cells have been found causing the continuous existence of low-inflammation, which is thought to be a basic pathophysiological process. The idea of the gut-brain axis has been created to offer a basic framework for the complex interactions that occur between the nervous system and intestinal functions, including the involvement of the gut bacteria. In this review paper, we intend to promote a hypothesis that FGIDs, should be seen through the perspective of the network of the neuroendocrine, immunological, metabolic and microbiome pathways. Hypothesis arises from an increased understanding of chronic inflammation as a systemic disorder, being omnipresent in chronic health conditions. Better understanding of inflammation role in the pathogenesis of FGIDs can be achieved by clustering markers of inflammation with data indicating symptoms, comorbidities, and psycho-social factors. Finding subclasses among related entities of FGIDs, may reduce patient heterogeneity and help clarify pathophysiology for better treatment.

The details of the solar flare production mechanisms are not yet completely understood. One of the standing questions is the anisotropy of the X-ray flux, especially in strong flares. It can be studied indirectly by analysing the characteristics of flares at different positions on the visible disc. In this paper, the durations, peak and integral fluxes of strong (X-class) solar flares from cycles 22--25 are considered with respect to their apparent position on the Sun. It is found that there exists a significant north--south asymmetry in all three parameters, which also varies depending on the phase of the solar cycle (with general predominance of the south). This confirms the results of previous studies. A weaker and less significant east--west asymmetry is found as well, partly supported by literature. A previously undetected centre-to-limb asymmetry is reported (in favour of the limb) in all three parameters. All three asymmetries are enhanced during the solar minimum, which could hint at their connection to the large scale magnetic structuring of the Sun. The prevalence of strong solar flares near the limb at the solar minimum has clear space weather warning implications.

Since 1742, the year in which the Prussian Christian Goldbach wrote a letter to Leonhard Euler with his Conjecture in the weak version, mathematicians have been working on the problem. The tools in number theory become the most sophisticated thanks to the resolution solutions. Euler himself said he was unable to prove it. The weak guess in the modern version states the following: any odd number greater than 5 can be written as the sum of 3 primes. In response to Goldbach's letter, Euler reminded him of a conversation in which he proposed what is now known as Goldbach's strong conjecture: any even number greater than 2 can be written as a sum of 2 prime numbers. The most interesting result came in 2013, with proof of weak version by the Peruvian Mathematician Harald Helfgott, however the strong version remained without a definitive proof. The weak version can be demonstrated without major difficulties and will not be described in this article, as it becomes a corollary of the strong version. Despite the enormous intellectual baggage that great mathematicians have had over the centuries, the Conjecture in question has not been validated or refuted until today.

Breast cancer brain metastasis (BCBM) is a challenging condition with limited treatment options and poor prognosis. Understanding the interactions between tumor cells and the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is critical for developing novel therapeutic strategies. One promising target is estrogen receptor β (ERβ), which promotes the expression of key tight junction proteins, sealing the BBB and reducing its permeability. In this study, we investigated the effects of 17β-estradiol (E2) and the selective ERβ agonist diarylpropionitrile (DPN) on endothelial and cancer cells. Western blot analysis revealed the expression patterns of ERs in these cell lines, and estrogen treatment upregulated claudin-5 expression in brain endothelial cells. Using in vitro models of the BBB, we found that DPN treatment significantly increased BBB tightness about suppressed BBB transmigration activity of representative HER2-positive (BT-474) and triple-negative (MDA-MB-231) breast cancer cell lines. However, the efficacy of DPN treatment decreased when cancer cells were pre-differentiated in the presence of E2. Our results support ERβ as a potential target for the prevention and treatment of BCBM and suggest that targeted vector-based approaches may be effective for future preventive and therapeutic implications.

This research assessed the level of peer influences among the students of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki and the existing policy framework in the University to control its negative impact. Objectives: To assess the knowledge, attitude and practice of peer pressure influence control among the students of the institution. Methodology: We used a cross-sectional design, a structured questionnaire of a five-point Likert scale as a veritable instrument for collecting the data from 30 student respondents. The questionnaire was made up of four key sections comprising student’s demographic parameters, knowledge, attitude and practice of students on the subject matter. Data collected was analyzed in a table of descriptive statistics to determine the total, range, mean and median, which were used to ascertain students’ level of knowledge, attitude, practice and countermeasures to overcome negative peer influences emanating from their peers. Results: The mean value outcome of knowledge of students fall between 2.7 to 3.3, the mean value for attitude of student falls between 2.4 to 3.6, while the practice of students falls between mean value 2.7 and 3.2. Most of these outcomes represents poor or weak weight factor which requires several levels of interventions. Conclusion: This study highlights the overriding importance of peer pressure management among the students of Ebonyi State University, Abakaliki to create a safe academic environment and guarantee higher academic performances. This research recommended that the University management should commission research on peer pressure among students, the causes, manifestations and possible remedies to enable them to develop a comprehensive framework for the University.

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) is an enzyme that contains a heme group, found mostly in neutrophils and in small amounts in monocytes and plays a major role in their anti-microbial activity. However, excessive levels of MPO have been linked to various disorders and identified as a major cause of tissue destruction. Inhibiting its activity can reduce the severity and extent of tissue damage. Over activity of MPO during chronic inflammation has been shown to be involved in tumorigenesis by inducing a hyper-mutagenic environment through oxidant interaction with DNA, causing DNA modification. Vascular endothelium is one of the most important targets of MPO and high levels have been associated with increased rates of cardiomyopathy, ischemic stroke, heart failure, myocardial infarction, and atrial fibrillation. Therefore, it may be considered a therapeutic target in the treatment of cardiovascular disorders. MPO also participates in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. For example, an increase in MPO levels has been observed in the brain tissue of patients with Alzheimer's, Multiple sclerosis (MS), and Parkinson's diseases. In Alzheimer's disease, active MPO is mostly found in the location of beta amyloids and microglia. Therefore, targeting MPO may be a potential treatment and prevention strategy for neurological disorders. This review will discuss MPO's physiological and pathological role in cancer, cardiovascular, and neurological disorders.

Following the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus in countries bordering Kenya to the west, we conducted surveillance among domestic and wild birds along the shores of Lake Victoria. In addition, between 2018 and 2020, we conducted surveillance among poultry and poultry workers in live bird markets and among wild migratory birds in various lakes that are resting sites during migration to assess introduction and circulation of avian influenza viruses in these populations. We tested 7,464 specimens (oropharyngeal and cloacal swabs) from poultry and 6,531 fresh fecal specimens from wild birds for influenza A viruses by real-time RT-PCR. Influenza was detected in 3.9% (n=292) of specimens collected from poultry and 0.2% (n=10) of fecal specimens from wild birds. On hemagglutinin subtyping, most of the influenza A positives from poultry (274/292, 93.8%) were H9. Of 34 H9 specimens randomly selected for further subtyping, all were H9N2. On phylogenetic analysis, these viruses were genetically similar to other H9 viruses detected in East Africa. Only two of the ten influenza A positive specimens from the wild bird fecal specimens were successfully subtyped; sequencing analysis of one specimen collected in 2018 was identified as low pathogenicity avian influenza H5N2 virus of the Eurasian lineage and the second specimen, collected in 2020, was subtyped as H11. A total of 18 OP/NS swabs from poultry workers with ARI (12%) were collected; none were positive for influenza A virus. We observed significant circulation of H9N2 influenza viruses in poultry in live bird markets in Kenya. During the same period, low pathogenic H5N2 virus was detected in a fecal specimen collected in a site hosting a variety of migratory and resident birds. Although HPAI H5N8 was not detected in this survey, these results highlight the potential for introduction and establishment of highly pathogenic avian influenza viruses in poultry populations and the associated risk of spillover to human populations.

Gastrointestinal cancers are still the leading cause of death worldwide. This is related, among other things, to non-specific symptoms, especially in the initial stages, and also to limited possibilities of treatment. Therefore, research is still being conducted to improve the detection of this type of cancer and increase the effectiveness of therapy. The potential application of natural compounds in cancer management deserves special attention. In the group of such products there are polyphenolic compounds which reveal e.g. anti-oxidative, anti-carcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and neuroprotective properties. One of such polyphenols is rosmarinic acid, commonly found in plants such as Boraginaceae and Nepetoideae subfamilies of the Lamiaceae (mint) family, including Origanum vulgare, Rosmarinus officinalis Thymus masticmasti chinaythia koreana, Ocimum sanctum, and Hyptis pectinate. A number of studies considers the positive effects of rosmarinic acid in the treatment of many cancers, including gastrointestinal ones such as oral, stomach, pancreas, colon, and liver. The main aim of this paper was to focus on the summarized mechanisms of the action of rosmarinic acid in gastrointestinal cancers.

A genome represents the complete collection of genetic material in an organism or cell. This genetic information is encoded in nucleic acids, which can be either single or double-stranded and arranged in linear or circular forms. DNA, the most common type of genetic material, consists of just four nucleotides: adenine, guanine, thymine, and cytosine. These nucleotides are organized in a double helix structure, a discovery made by Watson and Crick. The sequence of these nucleotides forms the basic blueprint of a gene or genome. The process of determining this sequence is known as genome sequencing. The field of genome sequencing has evolved dramatically over time, advancing from sequencing short DNA fragments to analyzing millions of base pairs. Initially, efforts were focused on determining the sequence of individual genes, but now whole genome sequencing is both rapid and widely accessible. Recent improvements in sequencing technology emphasize faster, more accurate results, lower costs, and better data analysis. Sanger sequencing, which became the gold standard for DNA sequencing for about thirty years, was instrumental in completing various genome sequences, including the human genome. It laid the groundwork for newer sequencing methods. Today, these newer methods, known collectively as “Next-Generation Sequencing” (NGS), include several generations of technology. Second-generation methods, such as Illumina, Pyrosequencing, ABI/SOLiD, and Ion Torrent Sequencing, and third-generation methods like PacBio and Helicos Sequencing, have advanced the field further. Fourth-generation technology, such as Nanopore sequencing, is also emerging. Most modern research now relies on NGS for analyzing biological sequences, and understanding these technologies offers insight into current methods and future developments.

As it does not contain any central administrative authority so being wireless environment, the network is vulnerable to security threats and suffers in performance as well. Security of MANET is the core issue in this era, meanwhile the data is sent over untrustworthy network. Several techniques were proposed to secure data over Mobile Adhoc Network though cryptography that is one of the most reliable techniques to protect data. In our proposed methodology a Secure Cryptographic technique for Mobile Adhoc Networks (SCTMA) we proposed A Collusion attack prevention (CAP) scheme with ElGamal key generator along with DNA encryption Algorithm is used to make it more secure. The proposed scheme protects the network against collusion attacks and improves the performance as well. Performance analysis will be measured on the basis of key generation time, response time, encryption time and decryption time. The proposed scheme also protects the network against collusion attacks.

Undoubtedly, there is a potential impact of large language models like ChatGPT in revolutionizing information retrieval and knowledge discovery, particularly in the context of the vast amount of electronic material available. On another strong note, the current work offers a first time ever mathematical approach to accurately fine tune perplexity AI, which sets a giant step ahead towards accurate next generations AI. Having started this world leading discovery, the upper and lower bounds of perplexity AI, namely , , respectively, are obtained for the first-time ever. Concluding remarks combined with emerging open problems and next research phase are provided.

Antibiotic prescription is the first line of treating bacterial diseases. But it affects the composition and function of non-targeted intestinal microbiota. By considering collateral damage of antibiotics, searching an alternative antimicrobial agent will be a solution to minimize the problems. Probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics are an alternative to antibiotics. Thanks to GIT microbes as they are responsible for metabolism, energy production, protection from pathogens and immunomodulation. So, it is appreciable if the gut microbiota modulated through consumption of probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics. Probiotic effects are genus and species specific. To get good health benefit of probiotics, safety of probiotics should be assessed before using them. This is mandatory for prebiotics and synbiotic selection. So this review paper gives information about side effects of antibiotics on gut microbiota, description of probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics as alternative to antibiotics in modulating GIT microbiota, techniques of assessing safety of probiotics and health benefits of probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics with scientific evidence in clinical trial and some disagreement and challenges of using probiotics, prebiotics and synbiotics.

We methodically demonstrated the transition from normal neuronal activity to a seizure-like state by altering key parameters in the model, such as external current and coupling strength. This was followed by an extension of the model to a network of neurons, simulating the complex interactions and synchronization patterns indicative of seizure propagation. Numerical simulations were conducted to visualize the impact of varying coupling strengths on network dynamics, offering insights into the mechanisms of seizure initiation and spread. The study was complemented by a discussion on the implications of these findings for understanding epilepsy, highlighting the bridging of theoretical models with clinical understanding. Our approach not only illuminates the potential of computational models in epilepsy research but also underscores the significance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing our comprehension of neurological disorders. Background –The brinjal is of much importance in the warm areas of Far East, being grown extensively in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, China and the Philippines. It is also popular in Egypt, France, Italy and United States. Preserving soil fertility throughout time by preserving organic matter and soil biological diversity, mechanical intervention, as well as exercise is highly needed in upcoming future. Effect of six different fertilizer, five organic and one synthetic fertilizers listing vermicompost, poultry manure, mustard cake, neem cake, bonemeal and N:P:K study were main concern of this investigation to find out the most suitable fertilizer for the brinjal.Result - the final growth and development through N:P:K @ 1.5%(19:19:19) outperformed all the organic fertilizers but when considering only organic fertilizer performance vermicompost@5 ton/ha was outperforming all the other organic fertilizers. Coming close to it, mustard cake@1.5ton/ha has shown its inheritance in providing nutrients. Use of other organic fertilizers are also effective use of poultry manure can provide nitrogen in higher amount in short time. Higher temperature above 25 degree Celsius cause slow growth, temperature range between 21 to 14 degrees Celsius was found better in terms of growth of flower and fruit formation.Conclusion – our experiment demonstrate specific organic fertilizer use over other fertilizers in terms of brinjal different developemental parameters and there is even comparision between synthetic fertilizer with organic fertilizer readily available in market. Vermicompost showed promising result followed by mustard cake for this specific brinjal genotype in northern plain of Indian subcontinent.

Vascular dysfunction and sarcopenia have a negative impact on physical function and quality of life. Neurodegenerative diseases exhibit comparable pathophysiological mechanisms that affect cognitive and motor functions. Preventive and therapeutic approaches encompass lifestyle adjustments, addressing oxidative stress, in-flammation, and integrated therapies that focus on improving vascular and muscular well-being. Better understanding of these links can refine therapeutic strategies and yield better patient out-comes. This study emphasizes the complex interplay between vascular dysfunction, muscle de-generation, and cognitive decline, highlighting the necessity for multidisciplinary treatment ap-proaches. Nutritional interventions facilitating the consumption of available, affordable, and environment-compatible health-promoting functional foods (FF) are a promising strategy for controlling non-communicable diseases (NCDs) responsible for decreasing health expectancy. Given that the complex of tomato micronutrients produces healthier outcomes than lycopene, its major antioxidant component, we have devised a new controlled berry processing to improve its health-supporting properties. The newly generated whole tomato food supplement (WTFS), enriched by 2% olive wastewater polyphenols, contains a complex of healthy nutrients with converging biologic activities superior to those provided by tomato commodities. WTFS equals the antioxidant activity of N-acetyl-cysteine and interferes with multiple inflammation-eliciting and sustaining metabolic pathways. WTFS inhibits prostate experimental tumors, and improves benign prostate hypertrophy-associated symptoms. No side effects have been so far reported for dietary supplementation with WTFS compared to the culinary use of tomatoes. Although WTFS may be susceptible to further improvements and clinical scrutiny, its composition embodies the features of an advanced FF to ease adherence to dietary regimens, i.e. the Mediterranean diet, aimed at contrasting the low-grade inflammation. Ongoing investigations suggest new areas of potential translational use of WTFS, as a basis for developing more targeted FF interceptive or preventive of NCDs.

Finally, we outline the possible political and social solutions to the problem of plastic overproduction that characterizes the modern world.

Melatonin is a ubiquitous molecule found in living organisms, ranging from bacteria to plants and mammals. It possesses various properties, partly due to its robust antioxidant nature and partly owed to its specific interaction with melatonin receptors present in almost all tissues. Melatonin regulates different physiological functions and contributes to the homeostasis of the entire organism. In the human eye, a small amount of melatonin is also present, produced by cells in the anterior segment and the posterior pole, including the retina. In the eye, melatonin may provide antioxidant protection along with regulating physiological functions of ocular tissues, including intraocular pressure (IOP). Therefore, it is conceivable that the exogenous administration of sufficiently high amounts of melatonin to the eye could be beneficial in several instances: for the treatment of eye pathologies like glaucoma, due to the IOP-lowering and neuroprotection effects of melatonin; for the prevention of other dysfunctions, such as dry eye and refractive defects (cataract and myopia) mainly due to its antioxidant properties; for diabetic retinopathy due to its metabolic influence and neuroprotective effects; for macular degeneration due to the antioxidant and neuroprotective properties; and for uveitis, mostly owing to anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties. This paper reviews the scientific evidence supporting the use of melatonin in different ocular districts and provides data suggesting that the topical administration of melatonin as eye drops is a real possibility. This way, its distribution and concentration in different ocular tissues may support its pleiotropic therapeutic effects.

This article discusses the application of thermal quality control methods for plant tissues. The purpose of the work is to determine the optimal parameters of thermal impact on a spherical-shaped plant control object, ensuring the detection of surface and subsurface defects. The authors of the work proposed mathematical models of the temperature field for a spherical body with defects and a flat sample when exposed to the thermal influence of a pulsed source. As a result of the use of mathematical models, the thermophysical characteristics of plant tissues of varying degrees of disease damage were obtained, which made it possible to simulate the temperature field of the control object and obtain an image of classified tissues. The developed recommendations made it possible to select the optimal parameters of the thermal effect on the test object.

Background: Waterborne diseases pose a significant global public health threat, compelling enhanced comprehensive surveillance. This study investigates the current infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance systems, including wastewater and environmental surveillance (WES), in three sub-Saharan African countries: Tanzania, Burkina Faso, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The three countries have their specificities regarding wastewater networks and logistic systems. So, emphasizing the need to strengthen existing disease surveillance, the paper advocates for incorporating WES systems specifically designed for countries' context to monitor waterborne and re-emerging pathogens, as well as AMR.Methods: National workshops were conducted to assess the current clinical and environmental surveillance systems and identify priority pathogens for new environmental monitoring. Data were collected through surveys from experts in academia, research, policy, and healthcare. Results: Prioritized pathogens for WES include waterborne (poliovirus, Salmonella Typhi, Vibrio cholerae), respiratory (influenza A&B, SARS-CoV-2), other (Measles and Rubella, Mycobacterium tuberculosis). Recommended AMR pathogens include drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Salmonella spp., methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, and extended-spectrum beta-lactamase and carbapenemase-producing E. coli. Tanzania, Burkina Faso, and the DRC employ DHSI2-based centralized electronic systems for clinical data collection, complemented by Excel and paper-based registries. The WES approach is commonly employed for monitoring poliovirus and rarely for AMR and other pathogens. Discussion and conclusions: WES is a valuable tool for early detection of locally circulating human-derived pathogens, aiding in outbreak detection, data-driven epidemic response, and prevention. The availability of WES results underscores the importance of effective sanitation for safeguarding human, animal, and environmental health. WES is a pivotal tool for integrated risk management, preventing waterborne outbreaks, protecting drinking water sources, and ultimately gaining various UN Sustainable Development Goals. The study highlights the importance of customized WES systems in line with each country's context, emphasizing localized approaches for effective monitoring of waterborne pathogens and AMR.

Understanding the state of the swamp buffalo population in Calayan Island is important to strengthen the conservation and management program in the country. This study aimed to provide insights into the morphology, population structure, and health profile of the swamp buffaloes on the island. In total, 35 fresh blood samples were analyzed using 27 polymorphic microsatellite markers to determine the population structure analysis. Data were gathered for the morphological features of Calayan swamp buffaloes and served as the baseline information for the descriptive traits. Furthermore, samples were tested for surra and brucellosis using PCR and serological tests respectively. Results showed that Calayan swamp buffaloes were morphologically bigger except for body length compared with other populations. Genotype analysis using microsatellite markers showed remarkable discriminatory power to distinguish distinct populations within the tested population and could discriminate subspecies of swamp and river types plus crossbreds. The study also reports the first incidence of surra and brucellosis on the island. Overall, the new insights provided on newly detected Philippine carabao lineage in Calayan Island would be highly recommended for ex-situ conservation and animal health control strategy. The conservation strategy would encompass collecting, cryopreserving, and storing viable germplasms from local swamp buffalo on Calayan Island.

Permafrost covers about 23% ~ 25% of the land in the northern hemisphere, mainly in Russia, Canada, Alaska, Northeast and Qinghai Tibet Plateau (QTP) in China. Many engineering especially the transportation has been in the permafrost regions above. Under the action of highways construction and global warming, permafrost under infrastructures is degraded and causes serious damage. Two phases closed thermosyphon (TPCT) is a widely accepted green countermeasure against the problem in permafrost regions. Although it has been applied to prevent permafrost degradation, their application presents significant challenges on account of the stronger endothermic action of asphalt pavement. This paper focused on the thermosyphon technology and application in the permafrost. Moreover, the article highlighted the excellent working performance of the TPCT that improving the stability of the infrastructures and prevent it degrading due its excellent efficiency of heat transfer. The industrial applications of the TPCT were also summarized, along with their limitations. Finally, the results reported in this paper can provide a valuable guidance for the design of the TPCT and construction of the permafrost regions in the future.

Introduction After the first use of infliximab in Crohn’s disease in 1995, the wide scale introduction of anti-tumour necrosis factor alfa (anti-TNF alfa) medications revolutionized the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD’s). During the last two decades an increased number of molecules with multiple mechanisms of action were approved for the treatment of IBD with substantial increase of the costs of related to therapy. The increasing costs and access to therapy became a concern of payers and regulators but also for healthcare professionals. Biosimilars are biologic medical products that are highly structurally identical to their reference products and without any clinically meaningful differences in immunogenicity, safety or effectiveness. The introduction of biosimilars was seen as a way to provide a lower-cost alternative to the originator anti-TNF molecules and hence to increase treatment access and availability for patients. Material and methods This an observational, prospective study conducted in two IBD centers in Bucharest. The study included 53 patients, 27 male(M) and 26 female(F), diagnosed with UC or BC according to standard clinical,endoscopic, radiological, histological criteria that were non medically switched to a biosimilar. All patients completed at least the induction treatment with the originator adalimumab and they were clinically stable. After switch they received one of the market available biosimilars of Adalimumab(Hukyndra, Imraldi or Hyrimoz). For each patient, the following data were collected: age, sex, BC or UC diagnosis, previous and current therapy, clinical evolution, endoscopic scores as well as several biological markers. Aim The primary objective was the maintenance of clinical remission at twelve months after switching the original Adalimumab treatment to the biosimilar Adalimumab. The secondary objectives were to evaluate the presence of adverse effects and the treatment persistence at one year. Results In our population, there were 42 patients with Crohn's disease and 11 with ulcerative colitis who switched from the originator adalimumab to a biosimilar Adalimumab. The average age was 44,07 years old for patients with BC and 51,72 years old for patients with UC. No significant differences were found in terms of CF and CRP levels at 6 and 12 months after changing the originator biologic treatment to a biosimilar. Only one patient required changing the biological treatment, following the clinical and biological loss of response. The main adverse effect reported by patients was pain at the injection site. Of the 53 patients, only 2 patients reported pain at the injection site, but this was considered not significant because the patients had a BMI below 20 and they also reported the same symptom when administering the originator. One patient reported experiencing abdominal pain and rectal bleeding immediately after switch, but no recurrence was observed clinically and endoscopically. Conclusion: This observational study is the first carried out in Romania that shows that the after the non-medical switch, biosimilars of Adalimumab were as efficient as the originator Adalimumab in the clinical practice of patients with IBD. These results support that conclusion that the large-scale use of biosimilars does not significantly affect the effectiveness of the therapy and the safety of the patient.

It is stressed that the result measured in the strong field is more fundamental for that in a galaxy the measurable object is generally with strong field. It results in that the way that the result measured on the Earth with weak field is used as the universal standard need be revised as gravity is studied in the scale of a galaxy. It seems that a new theory of gravity need be developed for the new observations.

This paper is given to the investigation of warm inflation using Modified Chaplygin gas in the background of locally rotationally symmetric Bianchi Identity type I. We find out the field equations and perturbations parameters such as; scalar power spectrum, scalar spectral index, scalar potential and tensor to scalar ratio under slow roll approximation. We find out these parameters in directional of Hubble parameter during the Logamediate inflationary regime in weak and strong case. These comological parameters shows that the anisotropic model is also compatible WMAP$7$ with recent observational data Planck $2018$.

Autoimmune blistering diseases represent a group of chronic severe, disabling, potentially fatal disorders of the skin and/or mucous membranes primarily mediated by pathogenic auto-antibodies. Despite their rarity, these diseases are associated with significant morbidity and mortality, a profound negative impact on the patient’s quality of life and impose a considerable economic burden. Rituximab, an anti CD-20 monoclonal antibody represents the first line of therapy for pemphigus, regardless of its severity as it ensures high rates of rapid, long-lasting complete remission. Nevertheless, disease recurrence is the rule, all patients requiring maintenance therapy with rituximab sooner or later. While innate resistance to rituximab in pemphigus patients is exceptional, acquired resistance is frequent and may develop even in patients with initial complete response to rituximab, representing a real challenge for physicians. We discuss the various resistance mechanisms and their complex interplay, as well as the numerous therapeutic alternatives that may be used to circumvent rituximab resistance. As no therapeutic measure is universally efficient, individualization of rituximab treatment regimen and tailored adjuvant therapies in refractory pemphigus cases are mandatory.

Thyroid hormones are essential for regulating the metabolic rate, growth, development, and maintenance of many physiological processes in vertebrates. They are synthesized by the thyroid gland, which is an ancient organ that evolved early in vertebrate evolution. This study aims to characterize the evolutionary path of polymorphic variants associated with the hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis by comparing ancient DNA (aDNA) sequences of Late Pleistocene-Holocene hominin populations with those of modern humans. We evaluated the genetic sequences of several populations, including Neanderthals, Denisovans, Palaeolithic hunter-gatherers from European Russia and Sunghir, and Neolithic hunter-gatherers/farmers from Anatolia focusing on genes involved in the development of the thyroid gland and thyroid hormone (TH) biosynthesis, secretion, and transport. Results showed interesting variants in the DIO2 (rs225014), TPO (rs4927611), and TG (rs2069556 and rs1133076) genes. All SNPs seemed to confirm that Neanderthals, and in part Denisovas, were physiologically hypothyroidic. Probably they had lower T3 levels due to defective production or peripheral conversion. From the moment that the most favourable alleles in terms of T3 production appear during the Paleolithic, we are inclined to assume that their selection was linked to environmental pressure.Our study supports insight into the evolutionary history of the endocrine system and can help in providing understanding into the evolution of physiological systems and their adaptation to changing environments. Understanding the evolution of thyroid hormones can also shed light on the mechanisms underlying thyroid disorders in humans.

Background: As the most invasive breast cancer (BrCa), triple-negative BrCa (TNBC) has the worst survival. The use of dexmedetomidine potentially affected BrCa surgery and dexmedetomidine was reported to have direct effects on TNBC cells. The objective of this study is to explore the mechanisms underlying the effect of dexmedetomidine on TNBC. Methods: Dexmedetomidine targets were predicted using The Cancer Genome Atlas data SwissTargetPrediction. Cell lines MDA-MB-231, MCF7, and MCF10A were used to validate the targets in TNBC with both clinical samples and cell lines. Cancer cell lines and normal breast cell lines were grouped in cancer and normal groups respectively. Both groups were exposed to dexmedetomidine treatment. Cell Counting Kit-8 was used to determine the effect of dexmedetomidine on cells with target silencing. The binding model of the candidate targets was docked and critical amino acids were mutated to validate the binding model. Results: Dexmedetomidine selectively inhibits cancer cells. Catalytic subunit of the DNA-dependent protein kinase (PRKDC), indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 (IDO1), opioid receptor kappa 1 (OPRK1), glutaminyl-peptide cyclotransferase (QPCT), macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), potassium voltage-gated channel, subfamily H (Eag-related), member 2 (KCNH2), cholinergic receptor, muscarinic 3 (CHRM3), and potassium intermediate/small conductance calcium-activated channel, subfamily N, member 4 (KCNN4) were identified as dexmedetomidine targets in TNBC. The expression levels of PRKDC, IDO1, MIF, KCNH2, CHRM3, and KCNN4 were found to be upregulated in TNBC tissues compared to non-TNBC tissues(p<0.05). Silencing of these genes was found to reduce the sensitivity of TNBC cells to dexmedetomidine(p<0.05). This effect was counteracted when the silenced genes were overexpressed, resulting in an increase in the sensitivity of cells to dexmedetomidine (p<0.05). Furthermore, a direct interaction between dexmedetomidine and IDO1 and CHRM3 was observed, which regulated the sensitivity of cells to dexmedetomidine(p<0.05).Conclusion: IDO1 and CHRM3 are direct targets of dexmedetomidine in TNBC.

This study investigates the effects of chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo by a long-term Nichiren Shoshu Buddhist practitioner on sound frequencies (A), brain activity (B), and microbial metabolism(C).A. Analysis of sound frequencies: Spectral analysis of chanting revealed peaks at 8 Hz and 116 Hz, corresponding to the first Schumann resonance and a frequency linked to chloride ion movements, respectively. Additionally, five peaks (417, 528, 639, 741, 852 Hz) corresponding to solfeggio frequencies were identified. These frequencies are known to exert a positive impact on the human endocrine and autonomous nervous systems; improve survival of human brain cells; decrease anxiety in rats; reverse cognitive and endocrine deficits in zebra fish; reduce total concentration of reactive oxidative species in brain tissue. B. Study of Brain activity: Brain activity changes were measured using functional near-infrared spectroscopy. Prefrontal cortex activity increased modestly during chanting compared to a pre-chanting baseline, but significantly increased afterwards. This suggests a shift towards focused attention during chanting and enhanced activity afterward. C. Effects on microbial metabolism: Probiotic cultures exposed to chanting, either directly or indirectly, showed increased metabolic activity. This suggests local and non-local effects, similar to previously reported phenomena. Importantly, this study clarifies that the spiritual practice of Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism transcends mere neurophysiological explanations. While brain activity and other bodily processes may be correlated with the practice, the religious and spiritual experience of chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyoencompasses a mystical dimension that, though not contradicting science, cannot be fully explained by scientific methods alone.

Lung involvement in rheumatic diseases is a major determinant of patient morbidity and mortality; however, its diagnosis depends on the detection methods used. We compared the incidence of pulmonary involvement in newly diagnosed treatment-naive patients with rheumatic diseases, as assessed by pulmonary function tests (PFTs) and chest high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT). This retrospective study reviewed the symptoms, spirometry results, and HRCT scans of 22 newly diagnosed, treatment-naïve patients and age-matched controls from the University General Hospital “Attikon”, Athens, Greece, between January 2021 and December 2023. Correlations between clinical findings and spirometry parameters were tested. HRCT scans revealed lung abnormalities in all patients, including peribronchial wall thickening (61.5%), ground glass opacities (59.1%), parenchymal bands (54.5%), air-trapping (50%), reticular patterns (45.5%), bronchiectatic changes (40.9%), and parenchymal opacities (31.8%). PFTs, performed in 17/22 (77.3%) patients, revealed definite pathology in 5 patients (restrictive: N=4; obstructive: N=1). No association was found between spirometric indices and clinical parameters. The results indicate a higher prevalence of abnormal chest CT than of PFT abnormalities, suggesting that HRCT is more sensitive in detecting early lung involvement in pediatric patients with rheumatic disease and should be considered in the routine evaluation of these patients.

Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is caused by pathologic variants in over 50 different genes that affect the structure and function of motile cilia. Low nasal NO (nNO) is a biomarker for diagnosis in patients with features of PCD; but the reason why it is low is unclear. At the cellular level, a characteristic feature shared by most PCD patients is that antigens and other particles are not cleared from the epithelial surface. Poor antigen clearance results in pro-oxidant pathway activation and airway epithelial damage and may predispose PCD patients to DUOX1- and IL33- mediated asthma. Secondary ciliary dysfunction, such as that caused by viruses or by smoking, can also contribute to asthma development. Variants in genes underlying the function of cilia, can be associated with poor lung function, even in the absence of PCD. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in PCD – related genes can be associated with increased asthma severity. The role of cilia and antigen stasis is the pathophysiology of asthma is an important area for research, because specific airway clearance techniques and other therapeutic interventions, such as antioxidants, could be of value in preventing the development of asthma and asthma-like symptoms.

Elevated immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels are commonly associated with allergies. However, high IgE levels are also found in several other infectious and non-infectious disorders. Elevated IgE levels typically suggest allergies, eczema, or recurrent skin infections. Very high IgE levels are uncommon in patients with active eczema but typically reflect a monogenic atopic condition or inborn immune defects with an atopic phenotype. The aim of our research is to identify if the possible cause of high IgE levels is also dependent on external factors, age, or associated recurrent pathologies such as infections. To answer this question, we performed a one-year retrospective study that included 200 hospitalized children who had at least two viral or bacterial infections in the six months preceding hospitalization. Measurements of IgE and allergen panels (respiratory and digestive) using blood samples revealed that individuals who tested positive for the body’s synthesis of hyperimmunoglobulin E were not observably allergic to any potential allergens despite having higher total serum IgE. According to the results, there was a strong correlation between elevated IgE serum levels and a history of infectious diseases among the patients.

Metabolic diseases are major diseases affecting animal welfare, health and production of small ruminants´ flocks for dairy and meat purposes. In breeding females, they mainly occur from six to eight weeks before and after parturition, respectively. The pregnancy toxemia and lactational ketosis are manifestations of hyperketonemia, primarily due to energetic deficit. Hypocalcemia and hypomagnesemia are related to the metabolic availably of calcium and magnesium, respectively. This review aimed to identify and discuss the current and most relevant aspects related to individual and herd heath management of these interrelated metabolic diseases with impact in the sheep and goats´ farm sustainability. These diseases are primarily due to nutritional deficit, but homeostatic and homeorhetic disruptions are responsible for clinical signs and forms. Currently, their clinical diagnosis and monitoring are mainly supported by biochemistry from animal fluids, and bromatological evaluation of the feed. Epidemiological studies, measuring risks factors, also contributes for their prevention. Nevertheless, research on specific biomarkers and composite indexes related to these diseases, in a context of herd health management and precision medicine, are new pathways driven to a suitable and efficient animal production.

Biodiversity monitoring is a seminal key for understanding the delivery of ecosystem functions and services. Mediterranean forests and woodlands harbor the vast majority of regional vascular plant diversity, and hence, they are a good surrogate for detecting changes in biodiversity linked to global change. In this work, we present a database resulting from the study of vascular plant diversity in multi-scale plots of 0.1 ha, measured around the first decade of this century and located in Mediterranean forest environments. Diversity profiles are calculated from Hill numbers (0, 1 and 2) for local (α) and regional (ϒ) diversity, as well as multiplicative calculation of differential diversity (β). Main Mediterranean forests sampled had a medium coverage of 51 % and stand dominant height of 10.6 m being monospecific in two thirds of the cases. Local diversity reaches its highest values ​​(around 78 species per 0.1 ha) in Holm oak dehesas, with values ​​below 50 species for the set of the most productive forest stands dominated by species of the genus Pinus. As regards the contribution to regional diversity, it is the broadleaf formations that contribute the most, with stone pine forests and dehesas in an intermediate position, and pine forests contributing the lowest in species richness terms.

In the last few years, the agricultural field has undergone a digital transformation, incorporating artificial intelligence systems to make good employment of the growing volume of data from various sources and derive value from it. Within artificial intelligence, machine learning is a powerful tool for confronting the numerous challenges of developing knowledge-based farming systems. This study aims to comprehensively review the current scientific literature from 2017 to 2023, emphasizing machine learning in agriculture, especially viticulture, to detect and predict grape infections. Most of these studies (88%) were conducted within the last five years. A variety of machine learning algorithms were used, with those belonging to the neural network (CNN) standing out having the best results most of the time. Out of the list of diseases, the ones most researched were Grapevine Yellow, Flavescence Dorée, Esca, Downy mildew, Leafroll, Pierce’s, and Root Rot. Also, some other fields were studied which are water management, plant deficiencies, and classification. Because of the difficulty of the topic, it was collected all datasets that were available about grapevines, and it is described each dataset with the type of data (e.g., statistical, images, type of images), along with the number of images where it was mentioned. This work provides a unique source of information for a general audience comprising AI researchers, agricultural scientists, wine grape growers, and policymakers. Among others, its outcomes could be effective at curbing diseases in viticulture, which in turn will drive sustainable gains and boost success. Additionally, it could help build resilience in related farming industries such as winemaking.

Computed tomography (CT) is a widely employed imaging modality with diverse clinical applications in pediatric and adult populations, offering numerous advantages. Despite several alternatives to imaging modalities with ionising radiation, CT scans have demonstrated persistent global popularity, contributing to a substantial amount of effective radiation doses for patients. This exposure results in hazards, including stochastic effects that amplify the radiation-induced cancer risk proportionally to the radiation dose received. CT-related radiation comprises a substantial portion of cumulative effective doses within diagnostic radiology, specifically impacting younger patient cohorts undergoing repeated investigations for chronic diseases over time. Scientific literature over recent decades has explored various methods to mitigate radiation doses during medical imaging. One notable strategy involves implementing low-dose and ultralow-dose CT protocols, maintaining diagnostic efficacy in acute and non-acute medical and surgical conditions. Utilising innovative image reconstruction algorithms, such as iterative reconstruction and emerging deep-learning algorithms based on artificial intelligence, plays a pivotal role in achieving an approximately 80% reduction in patient radiation compared to standard doses. This review article discusses the significance of low-dose protocols across a spectrum of acute and chronic medical conditions affecting different body systems.

Climate change will pose a challenge for the winemaking sector worldwide, bringing progressively drier and warmer conditions and increasing the frequency and intensity of weather extremes. The short-term adaptation strategy of applying biostimulants through foliar application serves as a crucial measure in mitigating the detrimental effects of environmental stresses on grapevine yield and berry quality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of foliar application of a seaweed based biostimulant (A. nodosum – ANE) and glycine betaine (GB) on berry quality, bioactive compounds, antioxidant activity, and elucidated their action on the secondary metabolism. A trial was installed in a commercial vineyard (cv. ‘Touriga Franca’) in the Cima Corgo (Upper Corgo) sub-region of the Douro Demarcated Region. A total of four foliar sprayings were performed during the growing season: at flowering, pea size, bunch closer, and veraison. There was a positive effect of GB in the berry quality traits. Both ANE and GB increased the synthesis of anthocyanins and other phenolics in berries and influenced the expression of genes related to the synthesis and transport of anthocyanins (CHS, F3H, UFGT, MATE1 and GST). So, they have the potential to act as elicitors of secondary metabolism, leading to improved grape quality, but also sets the foundation for sustainable agricultural practices in the long run.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a progressive lung disease that is commonly considered to be a potent driver of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) development and related mortality. A growing body of evidence supports the role of the immune system, mainly played by alveolar macrophages (AMs), as key axes regulating the development of COPD or NSCLC phenotypes in response to harmful agents. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs that influence most biological processes and interfere with several regulatory pathways. The purpose of this study was to assess miRNA expression patterns in patients with COPD, NSCLC, and ever- or never-smoker controls to explore theirinvolvment in smoking-related diseases. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens were collected from a prospective cohort of 43 sex-matched subjects to determine expression of hsa-miR-223-5p, 16-5p, 20a-5p, -17-5p, 34a-5p and 106a-5p by RT-PCR. In addition, bioinformatic analysis of miRNA target genes linked to cancer was performed. Distinct and common miRNA expression levels were identified in each pathological group suggesting their possible role as an index of NSCLC or COPD microenvironment. Moreover, we identified miRNA targets linked to carcinogenesis using in silico analysis. In conclusion, this study identified miRNA signatures in AMs, allowing us to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying smoking-related conditions and potentially providing new insight for diagnosis or pharmacological treatment.

Compared to the general population, patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are less likely to be vaccinated, putting them at an increased risk of vaccine-preventable illnesses. This risk is further compounded by the immunosuppressive therapies commonly used in IBD management. Therefore, developing new treatments for IBD that maintain immune function is crucial, as successful management can lead to better vaccination outcomes and overall health for these patients. Here, we investigate the potential of recombinant banana lectin (rBanLec) as a supporting therapeutic measure to improve IBD control and possibly increase vaccination rates among IBD patients. By examining the therapeutic efficacy of rBanLec in a murine model of experimental colitis, we aim to lay the foundation for its application in improving vaccination outcomes. After inducing experimental colitis in C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice with 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid, we treated animals orally with varying doses of rBanLec 0.1-10 µg/ml (0.01 – 1 µg/dose) during the course of the disease. We assessed the severity of colitis and rBanLec’s modulation of the immune response compared to control groups. rBanLec administration resulted in a dose-dependent reduction in colitis severity (less pronounced weight loss, less shortening of the colon) and an improved recovery profile, highlighting its therapeutic potential. Notably, rBanLec-treated mice exhibited significant modulation of the immune response, favoring anti-inflammatory pathways (primarily reduction in a local [TNFα]/[IL-10]) crucial for effective vaccination. Our findings suggest that rBanLec could mitigate the adverse effects of immunosuppressive therapy on vaccine responsiveness in IBD patients. By improving the underlying immune response, rBanLec may increase the efficacy of vaccinations, offering a dual benefit of disease management and prevention of vaccine-preventable illnesses. Further studies are required to translate these findings into clinical practice.

Patients with Multiple Myeloma have an increased susceptibility to severe infections due to several various factors, especially the high tumor burden. The use of the anti-CD38 monoclonal antibodies-based therapies has changed the frequency and epidemiology of infections. We report herein the safety profile of the pivotal clinical trials conducted with anti-CD38 mAbs (daratumumab and isatuximab) and anti-SLAMF7 mAbs (elotuzumab) that led to the approval of regimens employed today in NDMM and RRMM patients.

Background. A direct clinical and morphological comparison of non-COVID myocarditis than was diagnosed before the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and post-COVID myocarditis has not been performed so far. Purpose: to compare morphological activity, toll-like receptors expression and response to the immunosuppressive therapy in patients with non-COVID and post-COVID myocarditis. Metodhs. Seventy-seven patients (52 male and 25 female, 48.7±11.7 y.o.) with biopsy proven myocarditis, NYHA class 2 or more heart failure, ejection fraction (EF) <45% were included. A history of myocardial infarction, verified cardiomyopathies, systemic autoimmune diseases, viral DNA in the myocardium, except parvovirus B19, were exclusion criteria. The right ventricular endomyocardial biopsy with hematoxylin and eosin, Van Gieson stains, PCR for virus (herpes viruses, parvovirus B19, adeno-, enteroviruses and SARS-CoV-2), immunohistochemical study for CD3, CD45, CD68, CD20, nucleocapsid / spike proteins of SARS-CoV-2 and in addition toll-like receptors (TLR) type 4 and 9 expression (in 38 patients) were performed. The steroids (methylprednisolone 24-40 mg per day), azathioprine, mycophenolate mofetil were prescribed. The mean follow-up was 16 [6; 30] month. Results. In 45 patients, myocarditis was diagnosed before the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (giant-cell in one case and lymphocytic in the others). Other 32 patients had post-COVID myocarditis positive for RNA or/and proteins of SARS-CoV-2 (giant-cell in one case, eosinophilic in three cases and lymphocytic in the others). There were no differences in age, NYHA class, CRP and anti-heart antibodies level, echocardiographic parameters (mean EF 30.2±7.8 vs 28.7±6.7%), parvovirus B19 positivity (22 vs 34%), doses of methylprednisolone (24-40 mg/day) and death / transplantation rate (11.1 vs 9.4%). Differences between non-COVID vs post-COVID myocarditis focused on higher CD3, CD 45*, TLR 4 (4+ vs 6+), TLR 9 (0 vs 2+) expression and better response to therapy [10% or more increase in EF in 53 vs 86%* of patients, mean EF (43.9±12.3 vs 49.8±7.6%*) by the end of follow-up], *p<0.05. Conclusion. Post-COVID myocarditis is characterised by different morphological types, higher morphological activity, tendency to higher TLR expression and the best response to the immunosupressive therapy in comparison with non-COVID myocarditis.

In recent years the field of computer science has experienced great changes, due to the incredible advances in the field of artificial intelligence. Deep Learning models are responsible for most of them since the biggest milestones occurred in 2012 when AlexNet won the image classification challenge called ImageNet. These models have demonstrated great performances in different types of complex tasks like image restoration, medical diagnosis or object recognition. Their disadvantages are related to their high data dependency, which forces experts in the field to follow a precise methodology to obtain accurate models. In this paper, we describe a complete workflow that begins with the management of the raw data until the in-depth interpretation of the performance of the models. This should be taken as a high-level consultation document describing good practices that should be applied. Apart from the step-by-step methodology, we present different use cases that correspond to the two main problems of the field: classification and regression.

This article addresses the emergence of a niche for sustainable agricultural production in the province of García Rovira, Colombia. It examines the intervention of the Colombian planning regime, which implements agendas for sustainable territorial development. However, these agendas are not adequately aligned with provincial realities, resulting in a productive decline. From a multi-level perspective, a niche of production linked to the landscape is identified, highlighting sustainable practices and innovation. The study seeks to understand how planning influences the emergence of such niches and what factors boost their transition to sustainability. Through a mixed methodology, growing sectors are highlighted, and the profiles of the producers involved are outlined. The main conclusion is that the planned intervention is inefficient, as the niche of sustainable production emerges without its clear influence. Therefore, it is proposed to re-evaluate planning using alternative analysis frameworks to detect emerging productive dynamics, serving as a basis for future plans.

A proof is given showing the Collatz Conjecture is true for all positive integers. The proof was possible once the perspective of the proof was changed from looking at the pattern of the positive integers to looking at the conjecture rules. The conjecture rule for even numbers organizes all positive integers into unique sets and the rule for odd numbers interconnects the unique sets into dendritic pathways to “1.” Infinite loops, other than the minor 4-2-1 loop after reaching “1,” and pathways to infinity are shown to be mathematically impossible. The proof predicted a general equation that shows all positive integers ultimately reach a final value of “1," and calculates the values and locations of the odd positive integers during the iterations for each tested positive integer.

Background/Objectives: Adolescence represents a period of heightened vulnerability to risky sexual behaviours. In Portugal, adolescents are initiating sexual activity at increasingly younger ages. Yet, there are no studies evaluating their knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases and prevention methods at an earlier stage of their development. Study how middle school ad-olescents define their sexuality and assess their level of information regarding sexuality, STI, and prevention methods. Additionally, it explores adolescents' sources of information on sexuali-ty-related issues. Methods: A cross-sectional observational study was conducted involving the application of a questionnaire to 750 9th-grade students of Vila Nova de Gaia, Porto, Portugal. The questionnaire covered topics such as perceptions of sexuality, knowledge of sexuality and STI, methods of transmission prevention, and sources of information. Results: The mean age was 14.4 years, with 19.9% reporting having already initiated sexual ac-tivity. Overall, the knowledge about sexually transmitted infections is low, pointing to 7.08 out of a maximum score of 18. Condoms and immunisation are well-recognized preventive measures, but many misconceptions persist. Better knowledge is associated with better attitudes in the likelihood of having sexual intercourse. Conclusions: This study reveals adolescents' limited sexually transmitted infections knowledge, misconceptions about prevention, and reliance on peers and the internet over trusted sources, highlighting the need for comprehensive sexual education in middle school.

Microglial cells are brain macrophages that support and protect the central nervous system enviroment. Aging induces alterations in microglial polarization, resulting in a shift towards a neurotoxic phenotype characterized by increased expression of pro-inflammatory markers. Dysregulation of microglial cells regulatory pathways and interactions with neurons contribute to chronic activation and neurodegeneration. A better understanding the involvement of microglia in neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, is a critical topic to studying the role of inflammatory responses in disease progression. Furthermore, the metabolic changes in aged microglia, including downregulation of oxidative phosphorylation are discussed in this review. Understanding these mechanisms is crucial for developing better preventive and therapeutic strategies.

Abstract Introduction PCa is one of the cancers that exhibits the widest disparity gaps. Geographical place of residence has been shown to be associated with healthcare access/utilization and PCa outcomes. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are widely being utilized for PCa disparities research, however, inconsistencies in their application exist. This systematic review will summarize GIS application within PCa disparities research, highlight gaps in the literature and propose alternative approaches. Methods This paper followed the methods of the Cochrane Collaboration and the criteria set of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Articles published in peer-reviewed journals were searched through the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases till December 2022. The main inclusion criteria were employing a GIS approach and examining a relationship between geographical components and PCa disparities. The main exclusion criteria were studies conducted outside the US and those that were not published in English. Results A total of 25 articles were included, 23 focused on PCa measures as outcomes: incidence, survival, and mortality while only two examined PCa management. GIS application in PCa disparities research was grouped into three main categories: mapping, processing, and analysis. GIS mapping allowed for the visualization of quantitative, qualitative, and temporal trends of PCa factors. GIS processing was mainly used for geocoding and smoothing of PCa rates. GIS analysis mainly served to evaluate global spatial autocorrelation and distribution of PCa cases, while local cluster identification techniques were mainly employed to identify locations with poorer PCa outcomes, soliciting public health interventions. Discussion Varied GIS applications and methodologies have been used in researching PCa disparities. Multiple geographical scales were adopted leading to variation in associations and outcomes. Geocoding quality varied considerably leading to less robust findings. Limitations in cluster-detection approaches were identified especially when variations were captured using the Spatial Scan Statistic. GIS approaches utilized in other diseases might be applied within PCa disparities research for more accurate inferences. A novel approach for GIS research in PCa disparities could be focusing more on geospatial disparities in procedure utilization especially when it comes to PCa screening techniques. Conclusion This systematic review summarized and described the current state and trend of GIS application in PCa disparities research. Although GIS is of crucial importance when it comes to PCa disparities research, future studies should rely on more robust GIS techniques, carefully select the geographical scale studied, and partner with GIS scientists for more accurate inferences. Such interdisciplinary approaches have the potential to bridge the gaps between GIS and cancer prevention and control to further advance cancer equity.

The current trend in supply chain development requires the application of new knowledge to meet the challenges posed by new technologies. One such technology is blockchain, which facilitates supply chain solutions through the use of innovative data transfer, storage and verification systems. However, the use of blockchain can be challenging for certain stakeholders, such as small carriers, who may lack the necessary technical expertise or access to the technology. In this paper, we explore the potential for engaging small carriers that provide services within the blockchain supply chain but face technological barriers. We identify the barriers and opportunities for these carriers to participate, focusing on a case study of a small carrier that transports temperature-sensitive cargo. In addition, we introduce in-vehicle temperature measurement for use in cold chains and propose an ecosystem that can benefit different stakeholder groups.

Improving the level of farmers' participation in collective action is an important way to promote rural revitalization and improve the sustainable livelihood level of farmers in underdeveloped areas. Based on 312 questionnaires of farmers in Shanxi Province, this paper investigates the status of farmers' participation in collective action, their sustainable livelihood level and the sustainable livelihood effect of collective action participation. The results show that: farmers' willingness to participate in collective action is strong, and the participation effect is obvious, but the participation frequency is low, and the participation time is less; The farmers' sustainable livelihood level is relatively low, Empirical research shows that the level of collective action participation will have a significant positive impact on Farmers' livelihood risk prevention, livelihood capital accumulation, livelihood mode selection and livelihood income improvement, and the frequency, time and value perception of participation in collective action will have varying degrees of impact on Farmers' sustainable livelihoods. In order to promote farmers' active participation in collective action, it is proposed to strengthen the construction of collective organizations Provide incentives and improve the quality and skills of farmers to enhance the collective concept and other policy recommendations.

Azobenzene photoswitches are fundamental components in contemporary approaches aimed at light-driven control of intelligent materials. Significant endeavors are directed towards enhancing the light-triggered reactivity of azobenzenes for such applications and obtaining water-soluble molecules able to act as crosslinkers in a hydrogel. Here, we report the rational design and the synthesis of azobenzene/alginate photoresponsive hydrogels endowed with fast reversible sol-gel transition. We started with the synthesis of three cationic azobenzenes (AZO A, B, and C) and then incorporated them in sodium alginate (SA) to obtain photoresponsive supramolecular hydrogels (SMHGs). The photoresponsive properties of the azobenzenes were investigated by UV-Vis and ¹H NMR spectroscopy. Upon irradiation with 365 nm UV light, the azobenzenes demonstrated efficient trans-to-cis isomerization, with complete isomerization occurring within seconds. The return to the trans form took several hours, with AZO C exhibiting the fastest return, possibly due to higher trans isomer stability. In the photoresponsive SMHGs, the minimum gelation concentration (MGC) of azobenzenes was determined for different compositions, indicating that small amounts of azobenzenes could induce gel formation, particularly in 5 wt% SA. Upon exposure to 365 nm UV light, the SMHGs exhibited reversible gel-sol transitions, underscoring their photoresponsive nature. This research offers valuable insights into the synthesis and photoresponsive properties of cationic, water-soluble azobenzenes, as well as their potential application in the development of photoresponsive hydrogels.

A rare genetic disorder caused by col18.a1 mutations, inherited mostly in autosomal recessive and rarely in autosomal dominant pattern, giving rise to ocular abnormalities and other associated disorders, the condition is referred to as Knobloch syndrome. This paper overviews the anterior and posterior ocular symptoms in Knobloch patients, thus demonstrating the major findings in Knobloch cases including the mutational analysis which discusses the proteins involved and exon number on which mutations are detected. Animal modeling done by knocking out col18.a1 has also been discussed to determine the functions of this gene which have been identified based on anomalies found in knock-out mice.

Sugarcane is the primary crop in the global sugar industry, yet it remains highly susceptible to a wide range of diseases that significantly impact its yield and quality. An effective solution is required to solve the issues given by manual identification of plant diseases, which is time-consuming and wasteful, as well as low detection accuracy. This paper proposes the development of a robust deep ensemble convolutional neural network (DECNN) model for the accurate detection of sugarcane leaf diseases. Initially, several transfer learning (TL) models, including EfficientNetB0, MobileNetV2, DenseNet121, NASNetMobile, and EfficientNetV2B0, were enhanced through the addition of specific layers. A comparative study was then conducted on the improved dataset. The application of data augmentation, along with the addition of dense layers, batchnormalization layers, and dropout layers, led to improved detection accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score for each model. Among the five enhanced transfer learning models, the modified EfficientNetB0 model demonstrated the highest detection accuracy, ranging from 97.08% to 98.54%. In conclusion, the DECNN model was developed by integrating the modified EfficientNetB0, MobileNetV2, and DenseNet121 models using a distinctive performance-based custom weighted ensemble method, with weight optimization carried out using the Tree-structured Parzen Estimator (TPE) technique. This resulted in a model that achieved a detection accuracy of 99.17%, outperforming the individual performances of the modified EfficientNetB0, MobileNetV2, and DenseNet121 models in detecting sugarcane leaf diseases.

For the first time, this communication is intended to perform the possible biological role of natural compound Hypericin, in the Crystal Structure of dual-specificity tyrosine phosphorylation regulated kinase 2 (DYRK2), by Molecular and Dynamic Simulation. From Docking analysis by Autodock Vina and Autodock 4, Hypericin shows a significant ability to binds to DYRK2 protein, an important receptor for cell growth and development. Indeed, from docking studies Hypericin reports a binding energy value of about -13 kcal/mol and Estimated Inhibition Constant (Ki)of ca 1nM . Regarding MD simulation.From our results, this theoretical research it could has excellent future implications in the fight against cancer disease.

This study centered on examining 60 different antibiotics by assessing their primary toxicity parameters through the pkCSM database. The parameters included Max. Tolerated Dose (Human) (log mg/kg/day), Oral Rat Acute Toxicity (LD50) (mol/kg), Oral Rat Chronic Toxicity (LOAEL) (log mg/kg_bw/day), and Minnow Toxicity (LC50) (log mM). The results highlight four potential antibiotics—cefotaxime, ceftriaxone, imipenem, and meropenem—that exhibited lower toxicity effects compared to other compounds. These findings imply a relatively favorable safety profile for these antibiotics concerning the specified toxicity parameters. However, it is crucial to interpret these outcomes within the context of the specific clinical application and to consider additional factors for a comprehensive safety assessment. It's essential to acknowledge that evaluating toxicity is intricate, and the determination of what is considered "less toxic" can rely on specific criteria and the context of use. Furthermore, individual responses to antibiotics may vary, and the selection of an antibiotic should be based on diverse factors, including the specific infection being treated, the patient's health, and potential side effects.

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) vasculitis (IgAV), classically known as Henoch–Schönlein purpura (HSP), is a type of non-thrombocytopenic small-vessel vasculitis. HSP is the most frequent kind of systemic vasculitis in children, characterized by purpura, arthritis or arthralgia, gastrointestinal pain, and kidney dysfunction. The aim of our research was to investigate and observe the clinical characteristics of children diagnosed with HSP and to explore the correlation between infectious diseases and HSP. Furthermore, this retrospective study considered other factors, such as demographic characteristics (sex, area/environment, and age), and their effect on the pediatric population diagnosed with HSP. To answer this question, we conducted a five-year hospital-based retrospective study that included 144 hospitalized children who were diagnosed with HSP during hospitalization. Measurements of immunological panels (IgA, IgM, IgG, and IgE), C3, C4, C-reactive protein, fibrinogen, and hematite sedimentation rate (VSH) determined using blood samples revealed that there is a strong correlation between the elements of the immunological panel and the HSP manifestations. Moreover, elevated IgG and IgM levels in pediatric HSP patients are strongly linked to infectious diseases. Notably, patients who tested positive for pathogens in their IgG- or IgM-specific blood tests also had high IgG or IgM serum levels.

Culex quinquefasciatus is an important target for vector control because of its ability to transmit pathogens that cause disease. Most populations are resistant to pyrethroids and often to organophosphates, the two most common classes of active ingredients used by public health agencies. A knockdown resistance (kdr) mutation, resulting in a change from a leucine to phenylalanine in the voltage gated sodium channel, is one mechanism contributing to the pyrethroid resistant phenotype. Enzymatic resistance has also been shown to play a very important role. Recent studies have shown strong resistance in populations even when kdr is relatively low which indicates factors other than kdr may be larger contributors to resistance. In this study, we examined on a statewide scale (over 70 populations), the strength of the correlation between resistance in the CDC bottle bioassay and the kdr genotypes and allele frequencies. Spearman correlation analysis showed only moderate (-0.51) and weak (-0.29) correlation between the kdr genotype and permethrin and deltamethrin respectively. The frequency of the kdr allele was an even weaker correlate. These results indicate, in contrast to Aedes aegypti, assessing kdr in populations of Culex quinquefasciatus is not a good surrogate for phenotypic resistance testing.

Abstract Introduction: Despite the determination to succeed in eliminating neglected tropical diseases, these have been increasing within certain endemicities, particularly in depriving region. Objective: This study aimed to assess the relative burden of neglected tropical diseases in rural and urban slum settings in Eastern Ethiopia. Methods: A comparative cross-sectional study was conducted from February 25 to April 30, 2024 with a multistage random sampling technique used. A survey tool with the integration of the spectrum was employed. Data were entered using Epi-Data version 3.1 and analyzed using STATA 16. Descriptive statistics and multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors and the level for statistical significance was declared at p-value < 0.05 with 95 % CI. Result: The response rate was 93 % and the mean age of house heads was 31.6 (Range; 18. 63) with 5.7 average family size. The overall prevalence of NTDs among study participants was 22.6 % (95% CI; 20.2, 25.2); urban slum it was 15 % (95% CI; 12.2, 18.4) while it was 29.8 % (95% CI; 26, 33.9) in rural. Though there is no statistically significant difference, the relative prevalence of NTDs in rural to urban was two. The multivariable analysis provided that the risk factors associated with NTDs were government employment (AOR: 12.5 (1.17, 132.4)), good income (AOR: 0.13 (.03, 0.57)), Child playing with soil (AOR: 5.8 (1.52, 22.0)); child hand washing at critical times ( AOR: 11.2 (1.7, 74.9)), presence of flies in the child faces (AOR: 20.3 (4.7, 88.6)) and type of drinking water sources (AOR: 0.11 (0.02, 0.73)). Conclusion: the burden of NTDs was moderate in the study area dominated by STH, Trachoma, and scabies. Socio economic and WASH factors were found to be associated with NTDs. Collaborated efforts among stakeholders are crucial to prevent and control NTDs.

New setting is introduced to study the global offensive alliance. Global offensive alliance is about a set of vertices which are applied into the setting of neutrosophic graphs. Neighborhood has the key role to define this notion. Also, neighborhood is defined based on strong edges. Strong edge gets a framework as neighborhood and after that, too close vertices have key role to define global offensive alliance based on strong edges. The structure of set is studied and general results are obtained. Also, some classes of neutrosophic graphs containing complete, empty, path, cycle, star, and wheel are investigated in the terms of set, minimal set, number, and neutrosophic number. Neutrosophic number is defined in new way. It’s first time to define this type of neutrosophic number in the way that, three values of a vertex are used and they’ve same share to construct this number. It’s called “modified neutrosophic number”. Summation of three values of vertex makes one number and applying it to a set makes neutrosophic number of set. This approach facilitates identifying minimal set and optimal set which forms minimal-global-offensive-alliance number and minimal-global-offensive-alliance-neutrosophic number. Two different types of sets namely global-offensive alliance and minimal-global-offensive alliance are defined. Global-offensive alliance identifies the sets in general vision but minimal-global-offensive alliance takes focus on the sets which deleting a vertex is impossible. Minimal-global-offensive-alliance number is about minimum cardinality amid the cardinalities of all minimal-global-offensive alliances in a given neutrosophic graph. New notions are applied in the settings both individual and family. Family of neutrosophic graphs is studied in the way that, the family only contains same classes of neutrosophic graphs. Three types of family of neutrosophic graphs including m-family of neutrosophic stars with common neutrosophic vertex set, m-family of odd complete graphs with common neutrosophic vertex set, and m-family of odd complete graphs with common neutrosophic vertex set are studied. The results are about minimal-global-offensive alliance, minimal-global-offensive-alliance number and its corresponded sets, minimal-global-offensive-alliance-neutrosophic number and its corresponded sets, and characterizing all minimal-global-offensive alliances. The connection of global-offensive-alliances with dominating set and chromatic number are obtained. The number of connected components has some relations with this new concept and it gets some results. Some classes of neutrosophic graphs behave differently when the parity of vertices are different and in this case, path, cycle, and complete illustrate these behaviors. Two applications concerning complete model as individual and family, under the titles of time table and scheduling conclude the results and they give more clarifications. In this study, there’s an open way to extend these results into the family of these classes of neutrosophic graphs. The family of neutrosophic graphs aren’t study deeply and with more results but it seems that analogous results are determined. Slight progress is obtained in the family of these models but there are open avenues to study family of other models as same models and different models. There’s a question. How can be related to each other, two sets partitioning the vertex set of a graph? The ideas of neighborhood and neighbors based on strong edges illustrate open way to get results. A set is global offensive alliance when two sets partitioning vertex set have uniform structure. All members of set have more amount of neighbors in the set than out of set. It leads us to the notion of global offensive alliance. Different edges make different neighborhoods but it’s used one style edge titled strong edge. These notions are applied into neutrosophic graphs as individuals and family of them. Independent set as an alliance is a special set which has no neighbor inside and it implies some drawbacks for these notions. Finding special sets which are well-known, is an open way to purse this study. Special set which its members have only one neighbor inside, characterize the connected components where the cardinality of its complement is the number of connected components. Some problems are proposed to pursue this study. Basic familiarities with graph theory and neutrosophic graph theory are proposed for this article.

We report the use of Einstein rings to reveal the quantized and dynamical states of space-time in a region of impressed gravitational field as predicted by the Nexus Paradigm of quantum gravity. This in turn reveals the orbital speeds of objects found therein and the radius of curvature of the quantized space-time. Similarities between the Nexus graviton and the singular isothermal sphere (SIS) in the Cold Dark Matter (CDM) paradigm are highlighted. However unlike the singular isothermal sphere, the Nexus graviton does not contain singularities or divergent integrals. This solves the core cusp problem. In this work, data from a sample of fifteen Einstein rings published on the Cfa-Arizona Space Telescope Lens Survey (CASTLES) website is used to probe the quantized properties of space-time.

Cognitive Computing has become somewhat of a rallying call in the technology world, with the promise of new smart services offered by industry giants like IBM and Microsoft. The recent technological advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have thrown into the public sphere some old questions about the relationship between machine computation and human intelligence. Much of the industry and media hype suggests that many traditional challenges have been overcome. On the contrary, our simple examples from language processing demonstrate that present day Cognitive Computing still struggles with fundamental, long-standing problems in AI. An alternative interpretation of cognitive computing is presented, following Licklider's lead in adopting man-computer symbiosis as a metaphor for designing software systems that enhance human cognitive performance. A survey of existing proposals on this view suggests a distinction between weak and strong versions of symbiosis. We propose a Strong Cognitive Symbiosis which dictates an interdependence rather than simply cooperation between human and machine functioning, and introduce new software systems which were designed for cognitive symbiosis. We conclude that strong symbiosis presents a viable new perspective for the design of cognitive computing systems.

Background: Front-of-package labelling (FoPL) is shown to be effective in assisting consumers make healthier food choices. Several countries are implementing various types of FoPL systems. Objective: This study explored consumers’ perceptions and understanding of three different FoPLs and their insights into features that could influence the effectiveness of the symbols in Kenya Methods: A qualitative study was conducted in four Counties in Kenya; Nairobi, Mombasa, Garissa, and Kisumu. Data was collected through twelve focus group discussions with 137 adults drawn from diverse socio-demographic and socio-economic backgrounds. Three FoPLs were assessed: Red and Green (RG) Octagon, Red and Green Octagon with icons and text (RGI), and the Black Octagon Warning label (WL). The FGDs explored participants’ perceptions of the symbols’ visibility and memorability, their understanding, potential effectiveness, and cultural appropriateness. Printed images displaying four different commonly consumed products bearing specific FoPLs were used during data collection. Data was analyzed thematically and organized using NVivo version 14.0. Results: Results showed that Kenyan consumers had varied perceptions about the proposed FoPL symbols. Majority of the participants found the black Octagon WL to be most visible and memorable due to its good blend of black and white colours. Although the RG octagon symbol and RGI octagon symbols were also found to be eye-catching due to their bright colours, it emerged that the different colours often confused some participants on their meaning. Most participants understood the WL compared to the RG and RGI because they found the additional text more educative. Generally, the WL was preferred as the symbol most likely to influence consumer purchase behaviours and food consumption. All the three FoPLs tested were found to be culturally appropriate. Conclusions: The Black Octagon Warning Label is the most easily visible and understood among the three FoPLs tested and has the potential to influence purchase and consumption behaviours among Kenyan consumers. Although the RG and RGI symbols are visually appealing to many, confusion related to different colours could affect their effectiveness. Consumers need to be educated on the use of FoPLs to ensure they discourage the purchase and consumption of unhealthy foods.

A multi-environment evaluation of sorghum genotypes was conducted across six environments in the 2021 main growing season in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The objectives of the study were to estimate the magnitude of genotypes by environment interaction (GEI) and grain yield stability of drought-tolerant sorghum genotypes across different environments. Data were subjected to analysis of variance, Additive Main Effects and Multiplicative Interaction (AMMI), and GGE biplot analysis. Combined analysis of variance revealed significant variations among genotypes, environments, and GEI for yield and yield-related traits, indicating that these factors significantly affected grain yield. The maximum mean grain yield value of genotypes due to the mean effect of the environment was obtained from G1 (5119.93kg ha-1), followed by G14 (4834.57 kg ha-1), and G18 (4801.20 ha-1), while the least mean grain yield was obtained from G3 (3314.50 kg ha-1). The multiplicative variance of the treatment sum of squares due to GEI was partitioned into four principal component axes (PCA). Sum squares of the first and second interaction principal component axis (IPCA) explained 71.07% and 17.50% of the GEI variation, respectively. The IPCA1&2 mean squares were highly significant (P≤0.01), indicating the adequacy of the AMMI model with the first two IPCAs for cross-validation of grain yield variation. The magnitude of the GEI sum squares was 3.9 times that of the genotype sum squares for grain yield, indicating the presence of substantial differences in genotypic responses across environments. The results of cultivar superiority measure (Pi), yield stability index (YSI), AMMI stability value (ASV), regression coefficient (bi), and deviation from regression (S2di) depicted that genotypes G18, G22, G31, and 32 were the most stable genotypes for grain yield and biomass yield, respectively. AMMI2 biplot showed Jinka, Alduba, and Kako were the most discriminating environments as indicated by the long distance from the origin; whereas testing locations Meioso and Gato with short vector length indicated that these locations had less discriminating power on the genotypes' performance. The study has provided precious information on the yield stability status of the sorghum genotypes and the best environments for future improvement programs in Ethiopia.

In this paper, some characterizations of fuzzifying strong compactness are given, including characterizations in terms of nets and pre -subbases. Several characterizations of locally strong compactness in the framework of fuzzifying topology are introduced and the mapping theorems are obtained.

New setting is introduced to study chromatic number. Neutrosophic chromatic number and chromatic number are proposed in this way, some results are obtained. Classes of neutrosophic graphs are used to obtains these numbers and the representatives of the colors. Using colors to assigns to the vertices of neutrosophic graphs is applied. Some questions and problems are posed concerning ways to do further studies on this topic. Using strong edge to define the relation amid vertices which implies having different colors amid them and as consequences, choosing one vertex as a representative of each color to use them in a set of representatives and finally, using neutrosophic cardinality of this set to compute neutrosophic chromatic number. This specific relation amid edges is necessary to compute both chromatic number concerning the number of representative in the set of representatives and neutrosophic chromatic number concerning neutrosophic cardinality of set of representatives. If two vertices have no strong edge, then they can be assigned to same color even they’ve common edge. Basic familiarities with neutrosophic graph theory and graph theory are proposed for this article.

Strong-aroma Baijiu is a traditional Chinese spirit distilled from grains that undergo solid-state fermentation. At the end of each fermentation cycle, a significant quantity of Huangshui accumulates at the bottom of the fermentation pit, constituting one of the primary by-products in the brewing process of strong-flavor liquor. In this report, the chemical component analysis of Huangshui obtained from a strong-flavor liquor factory revealed a diverse array of organic acids, alcohols, esters, starch, reducing sugars, amino acids, and other compounds present in Huangshui. Additionally, two specialized solid-state fermentation models were developed to investigate the formation process of Huangshui. Our findings demonstrate a positive correlation between the yield of Huangshui and the initial moisture content of fermented grains. It is concluded that Huangshui is the percolate produced during the solid-state brewing process of strong-flavor liquor, with its water content originating from the initial moisture of fermented grains.

Background: Asthma is a widespread chronic respiratory disease that poses a significant public health challenge. The current study investigated the associations between air pollution and asthma severity among individuals residing near the Sohar industrial port (SIP) in Oman. Despite the presence of multiple major industrial complexes in Oman, limited knowledge regarding their impact on respiratory health is accredited. Hence, the primary objective of this study is to offer valuable insights into the respiratory health consequences of industrial air pollution in Al Batinah North. Methods: The state health clinics' records for patient visits related to asthma were collected for the timeframe spanning 2014 to 2022. Exposure was defined as the distance from SIP, Majan Industerial Area (MIA) and Sohar Industerial Zone (SIZ) to determine high, intermediate, and low exposure zones (12 km, respectively). Exposure effect modifications by age, gender, and smoking status were also examined. Results: The conducted cross-sectional study of 410 patients (46.1% males and 53.9% females) living in over 17 areas around SIP revealed that 73.2% of asthmatics were under 50 years old, with severity significantly associated with closeness to the port. Risk ratios were estimated to be (RR:2.42; CI95%: 1.01–5.78), (RR:1.91; CI95%: 1.01–3.6), and (RR:1.68; CI95%: 0.92–3.09) for SIP, MIP and SIZ areas, respectively, compared to the control area. Falaj Al Qabail (6.4 km) and Majees (6 km) had the highest number of asthma patients (N. 69 and N. 72), and highest percentages of severe asthma cases among these patients (28% and 24%) with significant risk ratios (RR:2.97; CI95%: 1.19–7.45 and RR:2.55; CI95%: 1.00–6.48), correspondingly. Moreover, severe asthma prevalence peaked in the 25-50 age group (RR:2.05; CI95%: 1.26–3.33), and this linkage between asthma and age was much more pronounced in males than females. Smoking and exposure to certain contaminant (dust and smoke) increased also the risk of severe asthma symptoms, but their effects were less important in the high risk zone, suggesting much more important risk factor. A neural network model accurately predicted asthma risk (94.8% accuracy), with proximity to Sohar Industrial Port as the most influential predictor. Conclusion: The study highlights the High asthma burden near Sohar Industrial Port, linked to port proximity and smoking and wind direction as major risk factors. These findings inform vital public health policies to reduce air pollution and improve respiratory health in the region, prompting national policy review.

According to the ECCB, cancer represents the transition of a genomically damaged multicellular cell to a lower level of cell organization, controlled by the ancestral gene regulatory network (GRN) from the ancestral compartment of human and metazoan genomes. Cancer adopts ancient mechanisms and rules of the common ancestor, similar to those observed in parasitic amoebae. In cancer, the productive cell line generating CSCs is a non-gametogenic cancer germline. This germline proliferates through asymmetric cell division (ACD phenotype). CSCs lack proliferative capacity; they persist in hypoxic niches in a quiescent cell state or transition to an amplifying cell state that performs cyst-like polyploidization cycles, giving rise to precursors and CSCs capable of differentiation. Malignization arises from genomically dysfunctional tetraploid germline cells (DSCD phenotype) that proliferate in a precancerous stage through symmetric cell cycles. DSCD progeny undergo homotypic fusion, forming multinucleated genome repair syncytia (MGRS pathway) driving carcinogenesis. During tumorigenesis, metastasis, and recurrence, subsequent germline clones initiate a cascade of increasingly pathogenic CSCs through mechanisms such as heterotypic cell fusion, soma-to-germ transition, and polyploid giant cell structures (PGCCs). Irradiation and chemotherapies drive some of the very few surviving but dysfunctional CSCs through a PGCC repair pathway homologous to the MGRS pathway of carcinogenesis. The large number of PGCCs during metastasis and recurrence results from the perpetual germline cell damage and CSC poverty induced by oxygen levels above 6.0% O2 (germline hyperoxia).

The 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitors, also known as statins, are administered as first-line therapy for hypercholesterolemia, both as primary and secondary prevention. Besides the lipid-lowering effect, statins have been suggested to inhibit the development of cardiovascular disease through anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, vascular endothelial function-improving, plaque-stabilizing, and platelet aggregation-inhibiting effects. The preventive effect of statins on atherothrombotic stroke has been well established, but statins can influence other cerebrovascular diseases. This suggests that statins have many neuroprotective effects in addition to lowering cholesterol. Furthermore, research suggests that statins cause pro-apoptotic, growth-inhibitory, and pro-differentiation effects in various malignancies. Preclinical and clinical evidence suggests that statins inhibit tumor growth and induce apoptosis in specific cancer cell types. The pleiotropic effects of statins on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases have been well established; however, the effects of statins on cancer patients have not been fully elucidated and are still controversial. This review discusses the recent evidence on the effects of statins on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and cancer. Additionally, this study describes the pharmacological action of statins, focusing on the aspect of ‘beyond lipid-lowering.’

Natural and sustainable plant-based antioxidants and antimicrobials are highly desirable for improving food quality and safety. The present investigation assessed the antimicrobial and antioxidant properties of active components from Alkanna tinctoria (herb) roots, also known as Ratanjot root. Two methods were used to extract active components: microwave-assisted hot water (MAHW) and ethanol and air-dried. MAHW extract yielded 6.29% while the ethanol yielded 18.27%, suggesting superior Ratanjot root extract powder (RRP) solubility in ethanol over water. The ethanol extract showed significantly higher antioxidant activity than the MAHW extract. Gas chromatography and mass-spec analysis revealed three major phenolic compounds: Butanoic acid, 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-; Arnebin 7, and Diisooctylpthalate. The color attributes (L*, a*, b*, hab, C*ab) for the ethanolic and MAHW extracts revealed significant differences (P < 0.05) in all the above parameters for both types of extracts, except for yellowness (b*) and chroma (C*ab) values. The ethanol extract exhibited antimicrobial activity against 14 bacterial species, with a signifi-cantly higher inhibitory effect against Gram-positive bacteria (Listeria monocytogenes and Staphylococcus aureus) than the Gram-negative bacteria (Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium and Escherichia coli). The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) were both 25 mg/ml for the Gram-negative bacteria, while the MIC and MBC concentrations varied for Gram-positive bacteria (0.049 - 0.098 mg/ml and 0.098 - 0.195 mg/ml) and the antimicrobial effect was bactericidal. The antimicrobial activities of RRP extract remained stable under broad temperature (37-100°C) and pH (2-6) conditions, as well as during refrigerated storage for 30 days. Application of RRP at 1% (10 mg/g) and 2.5% (25 mg/g) levels in a cooked chicken meatball model system prevented lipid oxidation and improved sensory attributes and retarded microbial growth during refrigerated (4°C) storage for 20 days. Furthermore, the RRP extract was non-toxic when tested with sheep erythrocytes and did not inhibit the growth of probiotics, Lacticaseibacillus casei, and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum. In conclusion, the study suggests that RRP possesses excellent antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, thus making it suitable for food preservation.

For the first time, this study identified seven potential ligands with high binding energies through the docking approach against the Crystal Structure of human Melanoma-associated antigen B1 (MAGEB1). The ligands—Imatinib, Bafatinib, Diosmin, Ginkgetin, Bilobetin, Amentoflavone, and Hypericin—showing strong binding energies around -10 kcal/mol, indicate a potentially robust interaction with the target protein. Moreover, the additional step of predicting toxicity properties using the pKCSM server provides valuable insights into the safety profiles of these ligands. From these results, the parameters for Diosmin: —Max. tolerated dose (human),- Oral Rat Acute Toxicity (LD50), and - Oral Rat Chronic Toxicity (LOAEL)—suggest a favorable safety profile, making it a potential candidate for further consideration against Melanoma. Moving forward, it's advisable to conduct further experimental validations, including in vitro and in vivo studies, to confirm the efficacy and safety of Diosmin and other potential ligands. Consideration of pharmacokinetics, metabolism, and specific mechanisms of action will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of these compounds' potential as therapeutic agents.

Background: Gliomas, including the most severe form known as glioblastomas, are primary brain tumors arising from glial cells, with significant impact on adults, particularly men aged 45 to 70. Recent advancements in the WHO classification now correlate genetic markers with glioma phenotypes, enhancing diagnostic precision and therapeutic strategies. Aims and Methods: This scoping review aims to evaluate the current state of deep learning (DL) applications in the genetic characterization of adult gliomas, addressing the potential of these technologies for a reliable virtual biopsy. Results: We reviewed 17 studies, analyzing the evolution of DL algorithms from fully convolutional networks to more advanced architectures (ResNet and DenseNet). The methods involved various validation techniques, including k-fold cross-validation and external dataset validation. Conclusions: Our findings highlight significant variability in reported performance, largely due to small, homogeneous datasets and inconsistent validation methods. Despite promising results, particularly in predicting individual genetic traits, the lack of robust external validation limits the generalizability of these models. Future efforts should focus on developing larger, more diverse datasets and integrating multidisciplinary collaboration to enhance model reliability. This review underscores the potential of DL in advancing glioma characterization, paving the way for more precise, non-invasive diagnostic tools.

Pathogenicity of many bacteria including Bacillus cereus and Staphylococcus aureus depends on pore-forming toxins (PFTs), which cause lysis of host cells by forming pores in membranes of eukaryotic cells. Bioinformatic analysis revealed in over 600 PFTs a region homologous to the Lys171-Gly250 sequence in hemolysin II (HlyII) from B. cereus, which we designated as “homologous peptide”. Three β-barrel PFTs were used for a detailed comparative analysis. Two of them –HlyII and cytotoxin K2 (CytK2), – are synthesized in Bacillus cereus sensu lato; the third – S. aureus α-toxin (Hla) – is the most investigated representative of the family. Protein modeling showed certain amino acids of homologous peptide to be located on the surface of the monomeric forms of these β-barrel PFTs. We obtained monoclonal antibodies against both a cloned homologous peptide and a 14-membered synthetic peptide DSFNTFYGNQLFMK as part of homologous peptide. The HlyII, CytK2 and Hla regions recognized by the obtained antibodies, as well as an antibody capable of suppressing the hemolytic activity of CytK2, were identified in the course of the work. Antibodies capable of recognizing PFTs of various origins can be useful tools for both identification and suppression of the cytolytic activity of PFTs.

We propose a universal approach for modeling complex integrated photonic resonators based on the scattering matrix method. By dividing devices into basic elements including directional couplers and connecting waveguides, our approach can be used to model integrated photonic resonators with both unidirectional and bidirectional light propagation, with the simulated spectral response showing good agreement with experimental results. A simplified form of our approach, which divides devices into several independent submodules such as microring resonators and Sagnac interferometers, is also introduced to streamline the calculation of spectral transfer functions. Finally, we discuss the deviations introduced by approximations in our modeling, along with strategies for improving modeling accuracy. Our approach is universal across different integrated platforms, providing a useful tool for designing and optimizing integrated photonic devices with complex configurations.

Reliable models of pavement performance play a crucial role in effective decision-making for maintaining and rehabilitating this class of infrastructure assets. Probabilistic modeling approaches have gained popularity in pavement performance modeling because they account not only for the stochastic nature of pavement behavior and deterioration factor variations but also for the imperfections and inadequacy of pavement condition data in certain situations. One of these approaches, Markov chains, has been used extensively to model the probabilistic performance of pavements through an interesting variety of methodological tweaks in the Markov model structure. Unfortunately, the current literature lacks a synthesis of Markov chain models and their associated methodologies, as used in this manner. It is anticipated that a comprehensive synthesis of these models and their various forms can provide some insight into the variations of Markov model forms and methodologies, and the appropriate Markov model type to use for pavement deterioration and performance modeling under given conditions of data types and availability. To address this issue, this paper reviews Markov chain models used in the literature to model pavement deterioration and the methodologies used to estimate the transition probabilities matrix which is the key feature of Markov chain models. The paper presents a critical analysis of various aspects of Markov chain models as they were applied in the literature, reveals gaps in knowledge, and offers suggestions to address these gaps. The paper also develops a decision tree to select the appropriate Markov model type and TPM estimation methodology to model pavement deterioration under given conditions of data availability. This paper therefore provide guidance and decision support for researchers and highway agencies in selecting an appropriate probabilistic technique for modeling their pavement infrastructure performance in a robust manner.

Abstract—Hydraulic switching actuators are high efficiency, fast response, and low cost solutions for hydraulic control systems. One of the challenging problems is throttling losses during valve transitions. Previously the authors proposed a zero-flowrate switching method to reduce throttling energy loss of the switching valve, where a hydraulic resonator is applied to make the flowrates through the lines approaching zero before the valves are switched off. The major challenge of this approach is fast switching valves whose transition times are less than 2 ms. In this paper, an improved zero-flowrate switching method is presented. It utilizes the capacity with independent inlet/outlet ports to regulate flowrates through the lines. Models of capacity applied in a simple line with different pressure signals are developed to explore characteristics of the capacity, based on which a complete actuation system is developed. In the complete model, resistance and inductance are optimized to achieve desired flowrate response. The improved zero-flowrate switching method reduces throttling energy losses by 99.945% compared to a hard switching system. The simulation results demonstrated that the improved zero-flowrate switching method performs as expected in the design condition. A capacity with proper volume is able to regulate flowrates through all the lines to zero, with the help of appropriate resistance and inductance. Compared to previous zero-flowrate switching method, the novel strategy allows slower switching valves applied in hydraulic actuation systems and achieves better efficiency performance. This research paves a new avenue for reducing throttling energy losses and improves system efficiency in hydraulic switching actuators, as well as most of the hydraulic switch-mode circuits.

In order to deepen students' understanding of the deep learning network development and application process, this paper designed a deep learning-based teaching experiment simulation method for C. oleifera diseases and pest segmentation. The experimental process includes training data collection and preprocessing, network model training, result verification and analysis, etc., throughout the whole process of deep learning-based image segmentation task development. To this end, CDM-DeeplabV3+ network was proposed to segment C. oleifera leaf diseases fast and accurately, which was composed of a Residual Attention ASPP(CBAM-ASPP) and Dual Attention Encoder (DAM-Encoder). CBAM-ASPP obtained multiscale information by extending to five dilated convolutions and focused on the edge features using Convolutional Block Attention Module. The DAM-Encoder structure, which was connected with CBAM-ASPP in parallel, highlighted the tiny features by combining global and local features. Then, the C. oleifera diseases and pest dataset was built, and the model was compared with the traditional segmentation models DeeplabV3+, UNet, HrNetV2 and PSPNet. The experimental results show that the mIoU of CDM-DeeplabV3+ reaches 85.63%, which is 5.82% higher than that of the original model and the model parameters are reduced by nearly five times, proving the effectiveness and feasibility of segmenting pests and diseases on C. oleifera. The design of the experimental teaching content is inspired by the scientific research experiments of artificial intelligence, following the frontier of the discipline and easy to realize, reflecting the teaching concept of the integration of science and education.

The therapeutic, attenuative, and morphological effects of proprietary neural stem cell-derived extracellular vesicles (NSC EVs, AB126) produced by Aruna Bio, Inc. were assessed in a range of in vitro and in vivo models of stroke. We emphasize that modulation of neuroinflammation is a key target and suggest further studies to advance our understanding of the mechanisms of action and ultimately how best to dose and monitor the benefits of AB126 in stroke patients.

Opossums, native to the Americas, are unique marsupials with over 100 species. The Common Opossum and Virginia Opossum are notable species. They are nocturnal, omnivorous, and adapt to various habitats. Their reproduction involves a short gestation and marsupial pouch development. Despite their ecological benefits like seed dispersal and insect control, their proximity to human habitats exposes them to pathogens, posing public health risks. These include protozoa, helminths, and arthropods that can spread zoonotic parasites and vector-borne diseases. The marsupial immune system, including opossums, is complex, rivaling eutherian mammals. Key immune genes were identified in the grey short-tailed opossum genome. CD1 protein and VpreB surrogate light chain were also found. Marsupials are proposed as ideal models for studying developmental immunology. A West Indian opossum (Didelphis marsupialis) was found and examined. Blood tests revealed abnormalities, including a low white blood cell count and signs of anemia. The results contribute to understanding the species’ health and adaptability in the wild.

Lymphadenopathy is a common manifestation of both reactive and malignant diseases, and fine needle aspiration (FNA) is an effective and inexpensive screening method. It can prevent unnecessary invasive surgery and excisional biopsy, especially in benign cases. Unfortunately, the lack of universally accepted terminology for reporting results has hindered its widespread support. The Sydney system proposal for lymph node cytopathology categorization and reporting introduced five diagnostic categories to address the lack of universally accepted terminology for reporting results in lymphadenopathy. Our study analyzed 188 lymph node FNC samples from King Abdulaziz University Hospital, Saudi Arabia, examining clinical follow-up data, pathology records, patient information, and final diagnosis from January 2019 to December 2022. Most specimens were from axillary LNs, with 99.5% tissue correlation. The Sydney System Category classification identified 56.9% of cases as malignant, while 26.1% were benign. The final surgical specimen diagnosis revealed a higher percentage of malignant diagnoses, with the highest ROM in malignant/Category V. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that LN-FNAC offers high diagnostic accuracy for LN aspirates, with the Sydney approach potentially aiding risk stratification and achieving consistency in cytologic diagnosis, but further multi-centric research is needed.

The importance of a properly regulated immune response has been explored through various research-oriented methods. It has proved that having an effective and well-regulated immune response helps prevent many minors and serious diseases. Any kind of dysregulation in the working of the immune system may lead to severe consequences. An autoimmune disorder is one such consequence in which the component of the immune system starts targeting self-cells of the body, treating them as self-antigen producing autoantibodies and immune complexes resulting from the failure of immune responses both at a central and peripheral level. Currently, many autoimmune disorders are prevailing across the world, and new diseases need attention.In this review, we have written about the functions of T cell, LncRNAs and also some interactions between the LncRNAs and miRNAs in the pathogenesis of Multiple sclerosis (MS), Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Type 1 diabetes (T1D), Rheumatoid arthritis (RA). To find the functions of these autoimmune disorders we have done intensive literature search during this we also found that GAS5 and MALAT are common in MS, SLE, T1D, RA. And finally, we have also mentioned the therapeutic drugs which neutralizes the different cluster of differentiation (CDs) and also suppresses the T cell differentiation in MS, SLE and RA. For T1D therapeutic strategies and various types of insulin are mentioned.

New setting is introduced to study the alliances. Alliances are about a set of vertices which are applied into the setting of neutrosophic graphs. Neighborhood has the key role to define these notions. Also, neighborhood is defined based on the edges, strong edges and some edges which are coming from connectedness. These three types of edges get a framework as neighborhood and after that, too close vertices have key role to define offensive alliance, defensive alliance, t-offensive alliance, and t-defensive alliance based on three types of edges, common edges, strong edges and some edges which are coming from connectedness. The structure of set is studied and general results are obtained. Also, some classes of neutrosophic graphs containing complete, empty, path, cycle, bipartite, t-partite, star and wheel are investigated in the terms of set, minimal set, number, and neutrosophic number. In this study, there’s an open way to extend these results into the family of these classes of neutrosophic graphs. The family of neutrosophic graphs aren’t study but it seems that analogous results are determined. There’s a question. How can be related to each other, two sets partitioning the vertex set of a graph? The ideas of neighborhood and neighbors based on different edges illustrate open way to get results. A set is alliance when two sets partitioning vertex set have uniform structure. All members of set have different amount of neighbors in the set and out of set. It leads us to the notion of offensive and defensive. New ideas, offensive alliance, defensive alliance, t-offensive alliance, t-defensive alliance, strong offensive alliance, strong defensive alliance, strong t-offensive alliance, strong t-defensive alliance, connected offensive alliance, connected defensive alliance, connected t-offensive alliance, and connected t-defensive alliance are introduced. Two numbers concerning cardinality and neutrosophic cardinality of alliances are introduced. A set is alliance when its complement make a relation in the terms of neighborhood. Different edges make different neighborhoods. Three types of edges are applied to define three styles of neighborhoods. General edges, strong edges and connected edges are used where connected edges are the edges arising from connectedness amid two endpoints of the edges. These notions are applied into neutrosophic graphs as individuals and family of them. Independent set as an alliance is a special set which has no neighbor inside and it implies some drawbacks for this notions. Finding special sets which are well-known, is an open way to purse this study. Special set which its members have only one neighbor inside, characterize the connected components where the cardinality of its complement is the number of connected components. Some problems are proposed to pursue this study. Basic familiarities with graph theory and neutrosophic graph theory are proposed for this article.
