We propose the Hamiltonian formalism of Bianchi type 1 cosmological model for perfect fluid. We have considered both the equation of state parameter ω and the cosmological constant Λ as the function of volume V(t) which is defined by the product of three scale factors of the Bianchi type 1 line element. We propose a Lagrangian for the anisotropic Bianchi type-1 model in view of a variable mass moving in a variable potential . We can decompose the anisotropic expansion in terms of expansion and shearing motion by Lagrangian mechanism. We have considered a canonical transformation from expanding scale factor to scalar field ø which helps us to give the proper classical definition of that scalar field in terms of scale factors of the mentioned model. This definition helps us to explain the cosmological inflation. We have used large anisotropy(as in the cases of Bianchi models) and proved that cosmic inflation is not possible in such large anisotropy. Therefore we can conclude that the extent of anisotropy is less in case of our universe. Otherwise the inflation theory which explained the limitations of Big Bang cannot be resolved.Part II is contained with some analysis of the lagrangian ; derived in Part I ; on the quintessence model.

Crowdsourcing software design (CSD) is the completion of specific software design tasks on behalf of a client by a large, unspecified group of external individuals who have the specialized knowledge required by an open call. Although current CSD platforms have provided features to improve coordination in the CSD process (such as email notifications, chat, and announcements), these features are insufficient to solve the coordination limitations. A lack of appropriate coordination support in CSD activities may cause delays and missed opportunities for participants, and thus the best quality of design contest results may not be guaranteed. This research aims to support the effective management of the CSD process through identifying the key activity dependencies among participants in CSD platforms and designing a set of process models to provide coordination support through managing this activity. In order to do this, a five-stage approach is used: First, the current CSD process is investigated by reviewing 14 CSD platforms. Second, the review resulted in the identification of 17 possible suggestions to improve CSD. These suggestions were evaluated in stage 3 through distributing a survey to 41 participants who have experience of using platforms in the field of CSD. In stage 4, we designed ten process models that can meet the requirements of suggestions, while in stage 5, we evaluated these process models through interviews with domain experts. The result shows that coordination support in the activities of the CSD can add valuable contribution to the development of CSD platforms.

The Loess Plateau is one of the most severely affected regions by soil erosion in the world, with a fragile ecological environment. Vegetation plays a key role in the region's ecological restoration and protection. Most existing studies focus on the trends of vegetation cover change, while fewer studies investigate the driving factors or only conduct quantitative analyses. This study uses the Geodetector (Geographic Detector Model) to assess the impact of natural and human factors such as temperature, precipitation, soil type, and land use on vegetation growth, revealing the characteristics and driving mechanisms of vegetation cover changes on the Loess Plateau from 1982 to 2022. It also quantitatively calculates the influence of different factors. The findings indicate that vegetation cover on the Loess Plateau has generally risen from 1982 to 2022, but there was a noticeable difference around 2000. The annual mean slope of vegetation cover from 1982 to 2000 was 0.00129, which increased to 0.01075 from 2000 to 2022. The Geodetector indicates that the factors with the greatest impact on vegetation cover in the Loess Plateau are temperature, precipitation, soil type, and land use, and the interaction between these factors has a greater effect on vegetation cover than any single factor alone. This study identifies the ideal ranges or types for vegetation growth on the Loess Plateau over four time periods, offering a scientific basis for soil restoration and soil and water conservation efforts in the area.

Time overrun and tight deadlines set by the client are the critical challenges faced by the construction industry for decades. The fast-track technique was introduced to overcome these challenges. Since its introduction in 1970s, a number of construction projects have been completed on fast-track however the stakeholders still lack confidence in its implementation, mainly due to the lack of awareness of the impact that variances in cost and quality have on project duration on fast-track schedule and the lack of decision support available in this domain. This research aims at analysing the impact of cost and quality variances on project duration thereby proposing a decision support model that facilitates the decision-making process. Data was gathered from 159 construction industry professionals on a 5-point Likert scale based questionnaire. Structural equation modelling (SEM) software was used to analyse the data. 4 hypotheses were developed including the mediation analysis. The results of the analysis showed that both cost and quality variances have significant impact on variances in project duration. Moreover, the quality variance also significantly impacts the variations in project budget. The mediation analysis showed that cost variance mediates a statistically significant impact between variations in project quality and project duration. The R2 values of the proposed model indicated that 78.4% of the changes in project duration are attributed to changes in project cost and quality whereas 72.9% variations in project cost are attributed to changes in project quality. The IPMA results showed that the decisions resulting in variations in project cost have the greatest potential to enhance project performance in terms of project duration among which adopting scope freeze approach at early design stage, over-designing the facility and early procurement of long-lead-time items are the most influential decisions whereas over-extending the resources on quality related decisions may result in adverse effects on project duration which include early involvement of O&M team in design phase, early involvement of the contractor in design phase, 90% acceptable quality compromise and quality management plan submission in pre-design stage. Q2, RMSE, MAE and CVPAT values confirm that the proposed model has high out-of-sample predictability.

In order to better understand the temporal and spatial variation of canopy rainfall interception with watershed, In this study, the remote sensing observation data at the regional scale were coupled with the vegetation canopy rainfall interception model constructed by A.P.J. DEROO for validation, and the spatial variation trend of rainfall interception was analyzed through linear and nonlinear trends, and the rainfall interception was quantified and the influencing factors were analyzed at different altitudes and regions at time scales. The results show that: (1) Compared with the PML_V2 and measured values, the root mean square errors of the simulated rainfall inter-ception values are 5.69 and 3.37, and the effective factor are 0.66 and 0.64, respectively, which confirms the reliability of the A.P.J.DE ROO model in estimating rainfall interception in Beijing. (2) From 2005 to 2020, the annual interception volume and interception rate showed an upward trend, with the largest increase trend in 2005 at 3.8%/a, and the interception volume reversed in 2015, changing from an increase (6.5 mm/a) to a decrease (-5.8 mm/a). (3) The Theil-Sen Median trend was used to test the spatial variation trend of rainfall interception in the canopy in Beijing, with an increasing trend of 89.5%, a decreasing trend of 8.7%, and a basically unchanged area of 1.8%. Through the BFAST01 mutation test, 4.4% of the canopy rainfall interception in the whole region had mutations, and the southern mutation detection type accounted for the largest proportion. (4) Leaf area index, rainfall, canopy height and slope had the strongest explanatory power for canopy interception in the monthly scale analysis, while wind speed and temperature were weaker. The results of this study provide new insights into the analysis of spatial and temporal changes in canopy interception in Beijing, which can help to accurately assess the impact of forest ecosystems on regional water cycles and provide scientific and practical insights for water resource man-agement.

The traditional method for determining the Marshall stability (MS) and Marshall flow (MF) of asphalt pavements is laborious, time consuming, and costly. This study aims to predict these parameters using explainable machine-learning techniques. A comprehensive database comprising 721 hot mix asphalt (HMA) data points was established, including variables such as aggregate percentage, asphalt content, and specific gravity. Models were constructed using the PyCaret Python library, and their performance was assessed using metrics such as the mean absolute error (MAE) and coefficient of determination (R²). The CatBoost regression model outperformed the other models, achieving R² values of 0.835 and 0.845 for MS and MF, respectively. Additionally, Shapley values were used to quantify the variable effects on the predictions. This approach enables the efficient preselection of design variables, reducing the need for extensive laboratory testing and promoting sustainable construction practices.

The study addresses the challenges companies face in increasingly complex environments, which traditional Human Resource Management (HRM) models struggle to address. It proposes a Viable Model of HRM (MV-HRM) based on systems thinking and complex adaptive systems to enhance flexibility and adaptability. This model integrates five interconnected systems: operational processes, information systems, operational control, strategic planning, and governance. The methodology used includes a qualitative literature review to identify existing research gaps and the subsequent design of the MV-HRM using Beer's Viable System Model (VSM). The results show that MV-HRM enhances organizational resilience by promoting self-organization and interaction between systems, which supports agile decision-making in response to external changes. The model highlights the importance of aligning HRM with dynamic environments through effective communication, feedback, and a systemic approach to human capital management. The findings emphasize the need for HR leaders to adopt holistic strategies that integrate internal processes with environmental demands, ensuring long-term sustainability and competitive advantage. The study concludes that understanding HRM as a viable system is essential for addressing the complexity of modern organizational environments.

In the rapidly evolving field of insurance, accurate risk measurement is crucial for effective claims management and financial stability. Therefore, this research presented a systematic literature review (SLR) on insurance claims risk measurement using Hidden Markov Model (HMM). Bibliometric analysis was conducted using VOSviewer and ResearchRabbit software to map research trends and collaboration networks in this topic. The review explored the implementation of HMM in predicting the frequency and magnitude of insurance claims, with a focus on the statistical distribution methods used. In addition, the research emphasized the influence of the number of hidden states in HMM on claims behavior, both in terms of frequency and magnitude, and provided interpretations of these hidden dynamics. Data sources for the review comprised three databases, namely Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Dimensions. The article selection process followed PRISMA guidelines, resulting in five key articles relevant to the topic. The results offered insights into the application of HMM for forecasting the frequency and severity of insurance claims and opened avenues for further investigation on distribution models and hidden state modeling.

Neuropsychiatric disorders are worldwide public-health concern. Schizophrenia is one of the well-known neuropsychiatric disorders, which may affect millions globally. Maternal immune activation might be one of the key factor for the development of neuropsychiatric disorders. Previously, a mouse model of neuropsychiatric disorders has originally been made, in which poly-I:C, sodium dextran sulfate (DSS) and κ-carrageenan (CGN) were used for the maternal immune activation of mice. In the neuropsychiatric disorder mice, a significant link between biochemical changes of p62 and/or GLAST in the mouse brain and the alteration of experimental behaviors. Therefore, potential therapeutic study has been achieved for the development of effective treatment against neuropsychiatric disorders with using butyric acid, trehalose, piceid, and biochanin A. As a result, some of the combination with these orally available molecules could be effective for the improvement of behavioral alterations as well as biochemical changes of p62 and/or GLAST in the mouse brain. Importantly, the correlation between behavioral score and p62/GLAST protein expression has been again recognized. The significant correlation between pathological behavior and the biochemical alterations would contribute to develop further innovative therapeutics for vaious psychiatric disorders.

Identification of nutritious rice variety through non-destructive detection technology is necessary for high quality seed production. With the development in technology, rapid and non-destructive identification methods based on unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) remote sensing technology are increasingly gaining scientific community attention. This study utilized hyperspectral imaging technology to acquire spectral reflectance data from the rice canopy during the grain-filling stage. Different models (Stepwise Multiple Linear Regression, SMLR and the Back Propagation Neural Network, BPNN) for estimating rice nutritional quality indicators based on canopy spectral information were constructed using both multiple stepwise regression and BP neural networks. The results showed that the model based on BPNN estimation performed best for predicting grain protein content, with an R2 =0.9516 and RMSE=0.3492, indicating high accuracy and stability of the model. Overall, hyperspectral imaging technology combined with various model could significantly help to identify rice varieties. Further, the current findings provide a technical reference for the selection of high-quality rice varieties in a non-destructive manner.

Real-time simulation of toxic gas dispersion is critical for emergency management in high-sulphur gas fields. The CALPUFF (California Puff model) gas dispersion model, a Lagrangian Gaussian Puff model, is often used in mountainous environments due to its ability to handle complex terrain and weather conditions. Verifying the accuracy of toxic gas dispersion simulations under mountainous conditions is vital for emergency response and rescue. In this article, CALPUFF and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) gas dispersion modeling are compared, studying emissions from a hypothetical pipeline breakout accident in a mountainous area, focusing on range of Semi-Lethal Concentration (LC$_{50}$), Immediate Danger to Life and Health Concentration(IDLH). Thirteen groups of simulation conditions are set up for the experiment, including static wind and winds from the east(E), south(S), west(W), and north(N) at speeds of 1, 2, and 3$m/s$. Comparative experiments between CALPUFF and CFD models show consistent results, confirming the feasibility of CALPUFF for near-field moutainous applications. The overall dispersion range deviation between two methods under calm or light wind of N, E and W is about 300$m$. However,the simulation results of the CALPUFF model and the CFD model show significant differences in S wind. In CALPUFF simulation that the toxic gases are channeled by the valleys, while in the CFD model the toxic gases climb over the mountain top and continue to spread and extend towards the northern valley. The evaluation of CALPUFF’s suitability for applications in near-field mountainous environments indicates its potential use for high-sulfur gas fields and gas dispersion simulations in emergency scenarios.

The paper presents two procedures for creating 3D discrete models of apple using the finite element method (FEM). The study focused on a new Polish apple variety, Chopin at development, ripening, and senescence maturity stages. The analysis of the results allowed for the determination that, depending on the desired outcomes, the parenchymal tissue can be considered as a material with either elastic or elastoplastic properties. Model validation was performed using displacement-force relationships and changes in contact area as a function of loading force obtained from compression tests. Elastoplastic models reflect empirical studies much better. The fit of the elastic models, based on force vs. displacement curves, ranged from 79% to 83%, while the fit of the elastoplastic models to empirical data ranged from 91% to 96%. Elastic models, on the other hand, are well-suited to the modified force vs. displacement curves, which reflect the elastic behavior of apples under compression test. Contour plots of pressures for elastoplastic models align much better with the test results than those for elastic models. 4. Similarly, in the case of contact area values, the elastoplastic models outperformed the elastic models, achieving a fit between 92% and 96%, while the elastic models reached only 82% to 83% compliance.

Modeling dense nonaqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs) contamination in groundwater is challenging because of its multiphase distribution. To understand the research trends of DNAPL modeling in groundwater, a bibliometric analysis was conducted using CiteSpace based on 614 publications from the WoS Core Collection database (1993-2023). The publications were statistically analyzed, and the research hotspots and trends were summarized. The statistical analysis of the publications indicates that: the United States is leading the international research on DNAPL models, followed by China and Canada; collaboration between countries and disciplines in this field needs to be strengthened. The summary of keyword clustering and burst detection reveals that: the current research hotspots focus on multiphase flow models, mass transfer models, back diffusion, and practical applications of the models; the research trends are centered on back diffusion mechanisms, characterization of contamination source zones and prediction of contaminant distribution in real-world sites, as well as the optimization of remediation strategies.

As a critical component of electric vehicles, the powertrain has a significant impact on the overall performance of the vehicle. In addressing the challenge of lengthy testing cycles, this study develops a para model of the powertrain utilizing digital twin (DT) technology, thereby establishing a framework for simulation testing of multi-controller intermodulation. The research conducts functional definition coverage testing through the design of specific functional requirement use cases, and it validates the failure mechanism via fault injection use cases. The results indicate that the DT testing platform can effectively simulate the operational interactions among various controllers within the powertrain system. In comparison to traditional field testing, the digital twin-based testing methodology offers enhanced operational efficiency and allows for the examination of testing conditions that are impractical to implement in real vehicles, particularly in the context of fault injection testing, thus facilitating the early detection of potential safety risks within the system. The advancement of this technical solution holds significant practical implications for the future mass production and development of electric vehicles.

Identification the parameters of triple-diode electrical circuit structure of PV-module is a challenging issue and has been emphasized as an important research area. Accordingly, a hybrid evolutionary optimization algorithm is presented in this paper. Differential evolution algorithm (DEA) is hybridized with electromagnetism-like algorithm (EMA) in the mutation stage to enhance the reliability and efficiency of DEA. The presented algorithm is called differential evolution with integrated mutation per iteration (DEIMA). A new formula is presented to adapt the control parameters (mutation factor and crossover rate) of DEA and is based on a sigmoid function in terms of the current and previous fitness function values. Seven different experimental data sets are used to assess the performance of the proposed DEIMA. The results of the proposed PV modeling method are evaluated with other approaches in literature. According to different statistical criteria, DEIMA offered superiority in terms of root mean square error and main bias error by at least 5.4% and 10%, respectively, as compared to other methods. Furthermore, DEIMA needs 27.69 sec. as an average execution time less than other compared methods.

This paper proposes a novel facial expression recognition network called the Lightweight Facial Network with Spatial Bias (LFNSB). The LFNSB model balances model complexity and recognition accuracy. It has two key components: a lightweight feature extraction network (LFN) and a Spatial Bias (SB) module for aggregating global information. The LFN introduces combined channel operations and depthwise convolution techniques, effectively reducing the number of parameters while enhancing feature representation capability. The Spatial Bias module enables the model to focus on local facial features while also capturing the dependencies between different facial regions. Additionally, a novel loss function called Cosine-Harmony Loss is designed. This function optimizes the relative positions of feature vectors in high-dimensional space, resulting in better feature separation and clustering. Experimental results on the AffectNet and RAF-DB datasets show that the proposed LFNSB model performs excellently in facial expression recognition tasks. It achieves high recognition accuracy while significantly reducing the number of parameters, thus substantially lowering model complexity.

Accurate stock market predictions following earnings reports are crucial for investors. Traditional methods, particularly classical machine learning models, struggle with these predictions because they cannot effectively process and interpret extensive textual data contained in earnings reports and often overlook nuances that influence market movements. This paper introduces an advanced approach by employing Large Language Models (LLMs) instruction fine-tuned with a novel combination of instruction-based techniques and quantized low-rank adaptation (QLoRA) compression. Our methodology integrates ‘base factors’, such as financial metric growth and earnings transcripts, with ‘external factors’, including recent market indices performances and analyst grades, to create a rich, supervised dataset. This comprehensive dataset enables our models to achieve superior predictive performance in terms of accuracy, weighted F1, and Matthews correlation coefficient (MCC), especially evident in the comparison with benchmarks such as GPT-4. We specifically highlight the efficacy of the llama-3-8b-Instruct-4bit model, which showcases significant improvements over baseline models. The paper also discusses the potential of expanding the output capabilities to include a ‘Hold’ option and extending the prediction horizon, aiming to accommodate various investment styles and time frames. This study not only demonstrates the power of integrating cutting-edge AI with fine-tuned financial data but also paves the way for future research in enhancing AI-driven financial analysis tools.

The objective of image super-resolution is to reconstruct a high-resolution (HR) image with the prior knowledge from one or several low-resolution (LR) images. However, in the real world, due to the limited complementary information, the performance of both single-frame and multi-frame super-resolution reconstruction degrades rapidly as the magnification increases. In this paper, we propose a novel two-step image super resolution method concatenating multi-frame super-resolution (MFSR) with single-frame super-resolution (SFSR), to progressively upsample images to the desired resolution. The proposed method consisting of an L0-norm constrained reconstruction scheme and an enhanced residual back-projection network, integrating the flexibility of the variational model-based method and the feature learning capacity of the deep learning-based method. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, extensive experiments with both simulated and real world sequences were implemented. The experimental results show that the proposed method yields superior performance in both objective and perceptual quality measurements, compared to the baseline super-resolution algorithms in the cascade model. In addition, the experiment indicates that this cascade model can be robustly applied to different SFSR and MFSR methods.

In recent years, with the development of the Internet of Things and distributed computing, the "server-edge device" architecture has been widely deployed. This study focuses on leveraging autoencoder technology to address the binary classification problem in network intrusion detection, aiming to develop a lightweight model suitable for edge devices. Traditional intrusion detection models face two main challenges when directly ported to edge devices: inadequate computational resources to support large-scale models and the need to improve the accuracy of simpler models. To tackle these issues, this research utilizes Extreme Learning Machine for its efficient training speed and compact model size to implement autoencoders. Two improvements over the latest related work are proposed: First, to improve data purity and ultimately enhance detection performance, this study partitions the data into multiple regions based on the prediction results of these autoencoders. Second, leveraging autoencoder characteristics to investigate further the data within each region. We used the public dataset NSL-KDD to test the behavior of the proposed mechanism. The experimental results show that when dealing with multi-class attacks, the model's performance was significantly improved, the accuracy and the F1-score are improved by 3.5% and 2.9%, respectively maintaining its lightweight nature.

The Rapid Mapping (RM) component of the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS) delivers crisis information within hours or days, during and in the immediate aftermath of a disaster. Users of the service have requested the incorporation of flood depth estimates for inundations and related disasters, such as storms and tsunamis. This demand required the development of a quick and operational approach for estimating floodwater depth distribution, which can effectively adapt to a wide range of flood scenarios, remotely sensed data and Digital Terrain Models (DTMs). INFLOS is a tool developed to answer these requirements, within an expedient 30-minute timeframe at most. It uses sample points collected along the edges of flooded areas derived from remotely sensed imagery, and integrates high resolution DTMs and hydrography data to enhance accuracy. Flood depth is then estimated through a multi-step interpolation and filtering process. INFLOS underwent thorough testing across fourteen regions. As it transitioned into production, INFLOS successfully generated a wealth of flood depth products accessible through the CEMS RM portal: https://emergency.copernicus.eu/mapping/list-of-activations-rapid. Currently, INFLOS is operational and its computation time remains consistently within the order of minutes, making it a staple of the RM tooling and portfolio.

The combination of medical imaging and deep learning has significantly improved diagnostic and prognostic capabilities in the healthcare domain. Nevertheless, the inherent complexity of deep learning models poses challenges in understanding their decision-making processes. Interpretability and visualization techniques have emerged as crucial tools to unravel the black-box nature of these models, providing insights into their inner workings and enhancing trust in their predictions. This survey paper comprehensively examines various interpretation and visualization techniques applied to deep learning models in medical imaging. The paper reviews methodologies, discusses their applications, and evaluates their effectiveness in enhancing the interpretability, reliability, and clinical relevance of deep learning models in medical image analysis.

Solar saline water splitting is a promising approach for sustainable hydrogen production, harnessing abundant solar energy and the availability of brine resources, especially in the Atacama Desert. Bischofite (MgCl2·6H2O), a naturally occurring salt, has garnered significant attention due to its wide range of industrial applications and the challenges associated with efficient hydrogen production in arid or hyper arid locations. This work discloses the electrochemical performance of Mn2O3 electrodes using a superposition model based on mixed potential theory and evaluates the superficial performance of this electrode in contact with a 0.5 M nature Bischofite salt solution focusing on hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), that occurs during saline water splitting. The application of the non-linear superposition model provides valuable electrochemical kinetic parameters that complement the understanding of Mn2O3, this being one of the novelties of the manuscript.

The semi-active cab suspension system for trucks is gaining increasing importance due to its economic advantages, low energy consumption, and significant enhancement of ride comfort. This paper investigates the effects of three control methods on improving ride comfort of semi-active cab suspension systems under random and bump road conditions: Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control, fuzzy PID control, and Model Predictive Control (MPC). Initially, an accurate multi-degree-of-freedom truck cab suspension model was developed and validated through actual road tests. Based on this model, three control strategies were designed and implemented. Finally, the effectiveness of each control strategy was evaluated under various road conditions, including random and bump road scenarios. The results demonstrate that these control strategies can effectively reduce vibrations and impacts, significantly enhancing ride comfort, which is crucial for reducing driver fatigue and improving driving safety.

Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling has emerged as a valuable tool for investigating complex processes like microencapsulation. This paper aims to validate the ability of CFD simulations to predict particle size distribution in a polymer microencapsulation process. The CFD modeling approach employed an Eulerian multiphase framework, incorporating a discrete population balance model to track the evolution of the droplet population. A realizable k-ε turbulence model and a multiple reference frame strategy were utilized to capture the system’s flow dynamics. The results reveal that while the CFD simulations align well with experimental data at higher agitation speeds (>10000 rpm), discrepancies arise at lower speeds (<7500 rpm), indicating a challenge in accurately capturing turbulent viscous regimes. Despite these challenges, the CFD model demonstrates robust predictive capabilities for droplet formation and distribution in microencapsulation processes, validated by error margins within acceptable limits. The validated model can be used as a reliable tool to guide experimental efforts and optimize process parameters, contributing to an enhanced understanding and control of microencapsulation processes.

Fractured media are seldom considered viable for storing excess thermal energy seasonally, compared to the more commonly used porous aquifers, due to their heterogeneity, lower storage capacity, and potential for unpredictable flow paths. This study employs COMSOL Multiphysics to create a numerical model of a fractured granite reservoir located below the Bedretto underground laboratory. The energy efficiency of both single-well and doublet systems was evaluated over 25 cycles, each comprising four 91-day phases: injection, storage, production, and resting. Results indicated that the single-well system was more efficient, with energy efficiency increasing with the flow rate. For an injection temperature of 60 °C, the system achieved energy efficiencies of up to 59.3% and 67.7%, after 10 and 25 cycles, respectively, aligning with porous Aquifer Thermal Energy Storage (ATES) system efficiencies at this temperature. Exploration of electricity production using water injected at 120 °C revealed it to be uneconomical and ineffective. However, the most promising use of the retrieved water was found to be direct ground heating for a greenhouse. This technology offers a potential alternative for thermal energy storage in regions lacking suitable porous aquifers, although identifying appropriate locations with the necessary geological characteristics may present significant challenges.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global health concern driven by factors such as obesity, sedentary behavior, and poor diet. This study uses data from the 2017-18 Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) to analyze regional and individual predictors of diabetes and predi-abetes. Employing a Bayesian multinomial mixed-effects model, we account for regional varia-bility and individual factors like age, gender, BMI, residence, wealth, education, employment, and hypertension. Our results indicate significant regional differences and associations between de-mographic and health-related factors with diabetes risk. Younger individuals and those with higher BMI are more likely to be diabetic, while hypertension significantly increases diabetes risk. We applied machine learning (ML) models, including logistic regression, decision trees, k-nearest neighbor, linear discriminant analysis, and random forest, to classify diabetic status using these predictors, assessing their accuracy through 10-fold cross-validation. Logistic regression and linear discriminant analysis demonstrated robust performance across various response distributions. Simulation studies further examined the impact of different response distributions on model performance, revealing significant differences in classification accuracies. This approach of esti-mating parameters with a Bayesian model, applying ML for prediction, and conducting simulation studies to explore various scenarios highlights the importance of integrating these methodologies for effective diabetes prediction, providing insights for public health strategies to mitigate T2DM's impact.

Camouflage is a natural or artificially process to prevent an object from being detected while camouflage breaking is a countering process for the identification of the concealed object. We report that a perfectly camouflaged object in a two-dimensional scene can be retrieved and detected with stereo-vision assisted three-dimensional (3D) imaging perceived with stereopsis. The analysis is based on binocular energy model applied to general 3D settings. We show that a perfectly concealed object with random noise background can be retrieved with vision’s stereoacuity to resolve the hidden structures. The theoretical analysis is further tested and demonstrated with distant natural images taken by a drone-camera, processed with a computer and displayed in an autostereoscopy. The recovered imaging is presented with removal of the background interference to demonstrate the general applicability for camouflage breaking with stereo imaging and sensing.

This paper presents a Cartesian model of sustainability by a novel integration of Circular Economy principles and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria to explicitly establish a clear path for closing the loops of negative social and environmental externalities. As global sustainability transformations accelerate, they bring both opportunities and inherent financial risks and social uncertainties. Historically, economic development has often been achieved at the expense of environmental balance. The contemporary challenge is to attain a dynamic equilibrium between natural and socio-economic systems. We introduce an integrated, multidisciplinary, and dynamic framework for studying and managing sustainability transitions. Our innovative 4-quadrant framework utilizes a Cartesian coordinate system to map the impacts of various business models on natural and socio-economic systems, spanning from linear open-loop to circular closed-loop ESG models. The framework is data-driven, employing normalized coordinates (-1 to 1) to facilitate empirical analysis and the establishment of temporal Key Performance Indicators. By integrating the Human Development Index within ecological limits, our model targets regenerative development that harmonizes human progress with planetary boundaries. This versatile and robust framework serves as a practical tool for businesses, households, organizations, and policymakers to navigate the complexities of sustainable development, promoting innovation and fostering a just transition towards regenerative practices. Our approach provides a comprehensive roadmap for achieving high human development within the planet's ecological limits, contributing significantly to the broader discourse on sustainability science and management.

This study aimed to develop a carbon yield model for a Makino bamboo plantation and addressed a monoculture Makino bamboo plantation in central Taiwan. We established a long-term trial to monitor the stand dynamic following thinning. A total of 16 plots were installed based on four thinning treatments, each sharing four plots. After thinning, data were collected from two investigations, resulting in 32 records. We calculated the number of culms (N), mean diameter at breast height (MDBH), and basal area (BA) for each record. An allometric function developed by previous research was used to predict aboveground biomass and to obtain aboveground carbon storage (AGCS). The model used the N, MDBH, and BA with various types (reciprocal and natural logarithm types) as independent variables to predict ln(AGCS) by the stepwise method. According to the Radj2 value, the best predictive models were: ln(ABCS) = -0.004 + 0.820 ln(MDBH) + 1.008 ln(BA), and ln(ABCS) = 7.550 - 0.820 ln(N) + 1.828 ln(BA). From these two models, we found the factors, either BA and MDBH or BA and N, can effectively predict AGCS. It indicated that stand density was critical in affecting AGCS, especially the variable BA.

Antigen-presenting cells (APCs) are essential for modulating immune responses, and optimizing their differentiation protocols is critical for cell-based immunotherapies. This study compares eight different protocols for differentiating APCs from C57BL/6J mice using GM-CSF and L-929 supernatant. Four groups treated with GM-CSF and four with L-929 supernatant at various concentrations, alongside a control group were evaluated. Flow cytometry was used to analyze the expression of key markers, including MHC II, CD11c, F4/80, and CD11b. Our findings show that GM-CSF resulted in superior differentiation outcomes compared to L-929 supernatant, with higher expression levels of the analyzed markers. This study underscores the importance of considering both cell yield and protein expression quality in selecting differentiation protocols. For researchers developing therapies targeting specific cell populations, these findings demonstrate how different culture conditions influences both the quantity and phenotypic characteristics of differentiated cells. Balancing efficiency and phenotypic fidelity is crucial for optimizing cell-based immunotherapy strategies. Our data provide a valuable reference for future studies and applications involving APC differentiation from bone marrow precursors, ensuring robust foundations for developing advanced immunotherapies. This comprehensive comparison of differentiation protocols offers insights essential for enhancing the effectiveness and cost-efficiency of cell-based therapies.

In recent years, transformer-based models have gained prominence in multivariate long-term time series forecasting (LTSF), demonstrating significant advancements despite facing challenges such as high computational demands, difficulty in capturing temporal dynamics, and managing long-term dependencies. The emergence of LTSF-Linear, with its straightforward linear architecture, has notably outperformed transformer-based counterparts, prompting a reevaluation of the transformer's utility in time series forecasting. In response, this paper presents an adaptation of a recent architecture termed extended LSTM (xLSTM) for LTSF. xLSTM incorporates exponential gating and a revised memory structure with higher capacity that has good potential for LTSF. Our adopted architecture for LTSF termed as xLSTMTime surpasses current approaches. We compare xLSTMTime's performance against various state-of-the-art models across multiple real-world datasets, demonstrating superior forecasting capabilities. Our findings suggest that refined recurrent architectures can offer competitive alternatives to transformer-based models in LTSF tasks, potentially redefining the landscape of time series forecasting.

This study aims to find countries that differ in their development of the agricultural sector in terms of environmental care and to examine the relationship between renewable and non-renewable energy consumption and agricultural sector production in European Union countries. The classification of countries was conducted using the principal component method and biplot. Panel data for the period 2000-2022 and a VAR model, an impulse response function (IRF) and causality tests were used for the study. The results indicate two distinct groups of countries that significantly differ in adopting green agricultural practices. Only seven EU countries stand out for sustainable agriculture with low pesticide use, a significant share of organic farms and high use of renewable energy in agriculture. Energy consumption affects agricultural production differently in the two groups of countries studied: in countries with sustainable agriculture, an increase in renewable energy consumption translates into a positive increase in agricultural production. On the other hand, an increase in non-renewable energy consumption shows a dampening effect on agricultural production growth, especially in countries with less sustainable agriculture. The study results highlight the need to promote renewable energy development in agriculture and raise awareness about the adverse environmental effects of intensive agriculture while emphasising the positive impact of organic agriculture on agricultural production.

The objective of this study is to develop a predictive model for low-carbon bainitic steel utilising the P and λ parameters. The tempering activation energy of the steel was calculated through statistical methods. Kinetic curves for the hardness equivalents and a nomograph for tempering process parameters were plotted. The error analysis indicates that the predicted values based on the λ and P parameters had errors within 15% and 10%, respectively. The model can be effectively utilised to predict mechanical properties and optimise parameters during the tempering process.

Accurate segmentation of skin lesions from dermoscopic images is crucial for early skin cancer detection, yet variations in lesion appearance and image artifacts present challenges. This study proposes two deep learning models, UCM-NetV2 and BNN-UCM-NetV2, to improve accuracy and computational efficiency. UCM-NetV2 enhances the UCM-Net architecture with a novel "cyber-structure" combining Multilayer Perceptron and CNN layers, improving prediction accu-racy without increasing the model's parameter count. BNN-UCM-NetV2 further optimizes for mobile deployment by binarizing activations and weights into 1-bit values, reducing computa-tional complexity and model size. Evaluations on the ISIC2017 and ISIC2018 datasets demonstrate that UCM-NetV2 outperforms existing methods in both accuracy and computational efficiency, achieving this with less than 0.04 GFLOPs. These models have the potential to make skin lesion analysis accessible to a broader population, particularly in resource-limited settings, allowing for proactive skin health monitoring and facilitating teledermatology. Currently, banks are facing challenges in fulfilling the interests of stakeholders, not only from the economic point of view but also from the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) aspects. This is due to the increasing concern for sustainability issues, including in lending activities. Lending activities constitute the largest portion of bank assets and are the largest contributor to bank revenues. Thus, banks need certain business models and strategies to encourage sustainable lending growth. This study aimed to build a sustainable business model and selection of sustainable lending strategies in state-owned banks in In-donesia using a value chain approach. The development of a sustainable business model utilized triple layer business model canvas (TLBMC) is based on the results of previous re-search and sustainability reports data of the three state-owned banks. Formulation of strat-egy selection as key drivers to drive sustainable lending utilized analytical hierarchy pro-cess (AHP) based on expert respondent data collected through questionnaires. This re-search showed that the lending distribution business model at state-owned banks in Indonesia, which was built using the TLBMC framework, can realize sustainability goals in the form of a sustainable lending business model. Furthermore, this sustainable business model can be used as a basis for selecting sustainable strategies. In addition, the AHP results obtained alternative strategies in the form of green loan and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) market development and penetration as the key drivers of sustainable lending growth.

Patients who survived critical COVID-19 frequently reported post-acute sequelae of COVID-19 (PASC) such as psychosomatic and neurocognitive health problems. The goal of this study was to identify clinical risk factors and other predictors for such long-term consequences in severely ill COVID-19 patients. Adult COVID-19 intensive care unit (ICU) survivors from August 2020 to May 2021 were enrolled. A broad range of clinical, laboratory and chest computed tomography (CT) data was collected during ICU stay. The association between ICU predictors and psychosomatic, respiratory and neurocognitive assessments 12 months after ICU discharge was analyzed using univariate regression analysis. In 17 patients (mean age 58.9 ± 11.4 years), laboratory markers (CRP, lymphocytes, hemoglobin), ICU severity (SOFA, SAPS II, need for mechanical ventilation), complications (ARDS), and lung CT data (ground-glass opacity) were promising predictors of depressive and anxiety symptoms, fatigue, and sleep problems. Recovery of psychosomatic health such as fatigue, depression and anxiety correlated with lower levels of inflammation and high hemoglobin levels. ARDS, mechanical ventilation and worse SOFA and SAPS II scores were further risk factors for depressive and anxiety symptoms. Our study identified novel associations such as pulmonary ground-glass opacity being positively associated with depression, anxiety, fatigue, and insomnia levels.

The application of OpenAI's advanced artificial intelligence language model, ChatGPT, in education has garnered widespread attention from the academic community. The openness and intelligence features of ChatGPT demonstrate great potential and value in supporting students' learning, daily life, and communication. This study, grounded in the theoretical frameworks of Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), conducted a systematic empirical analysis through a questionnaire survey of 677 university students who had used or were currently using ChatGPT. The results indicate that the six perceived attributes of innovation significantly influence university students' behavioral intention to use ChatGPT, while attitudes towards ChatGPT, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use indirectly influence students' behavioral intention to continue using ChatGPT. Based on the findings of this study, we propose an extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) that incorporates key elements of Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT) to optimize the application of advanced technologies, such as ChatGPT, in education, thereby improving students' learning efficiency and behavioral performance. These findings not only provide important insights into the complex relationships between college students’ perceptions of ChatdGPT technology and predictors of behavioral intentions, but can also help relevant education departments, higher education institutions, and university teachers to effectively plan and evaluate the use of ChatGPT as a learning tool.

As the largest carbon pool on Earth, forest ecosystems are essential to maintaining carbon sink balance. However, accurately estimating the carbon sequestration and carbon storage of forest resources remains an urgent issue to address. Plot investigation, model estimation, and machine learning are examples of current approaches. Nevertheless, because of variables such as regional characteristics and plot size, large-scale and extensive region estimates are comparatively scarce. This study, which focuses on Tianzhu County, aims to comprehensively analyze and estimate the Net Primary Productivity (NPP), carbon storage, and carbon density of the forest ecosystem in this area by integrating data from forest resource inventory and the CASA model. The main conclusions are as follows: (1) The main vegetation types in Tianzhu County include coniferous forests, broad-leaved forests, mixed forests, and shrub forests; (2) Accordin g to the CASA model calculations, the annual cumulative NPP in Tianzhu County in 2020 ranges from a maximum of 249.63 gC/m² to a minimum of 3.40 gC/m², with the forest NPP amounting to 134,674.65 tons of carbon. Based on MODIS observation data, the forest’s NPP is 171,728.32 tons of carbon, with a maximum of 325.36 gC/m² and a minimum of 0.02 gC/m²; (3) At the pixel scale, the carbon storage of forests in Tianzhu County is 361,700 tons. Specifically, 46,500 tons of carbon are stored in coniferous forests, 1,100 tons in broad-leaved forests, 500 tons in mixed forests, and 313,600 tons in shrub forests.

With the introduction of policies to promote intangible cultural heritage into schools, intangible cultural heritage plays an increasingly important role in primary education. However, the implementation of the intangible cultural heritage policy in primary schools is mostly formalized, which leads to many problems in the introduction of intangible cultural heritage, such as mainly staying at the level of visual display and public opinion publicity, carrying out a small number of intangible cultural experience activities, and insufficient materialization and scenization of intangible cultural heritage, so that students cannot feel the inherent charm of intangible cultural heritage. In order to promote the development of intangible cultural heritage education, this paper uses the AGIL model of Parsons, literature analysis, case analysis and interview methods to study the promotion path of intangible cultural heritage in primary schools, and proposes solutions such as setting educational goals for school segments, setting up intangible cultural experience activities in schools, combining intangible cultural heritage with subject courses, and establishing a good maintenance mode. After the program is applied into practice, it is found that the use of storytelling by teachers to popularize the relevant knowledge of intangible cultural heritage is conducive to stimulating students' interest and prompting students to think. In addition, teaching and life practice should be combined, and students' five education should be emphasized at the same time to avoid teaching uniformity.

[Introduction]: In the contemporary international financial environment, marked by intricate complexities and increasing uncertainties, the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on national economies has become increasingly significant. In this context, this study uses the Chinese economy as a case study to delve deeply into the interaction effects between macroprudential and monetary policies, analyzing how these policies jointly address economic instability. The aim is to offer new perspectives and strategies for stabilizing the global economic and financial landscape. [Methods]: This paper constructs an open-economy Dynamic Stochastic General Equilibrium (DSGE) model specifically tailored for China, incorporating Bayesian estimation and numerical simulation techniques. The study meticulously examines how macroprudential and monetary policies can be coordinated to achieve economic stability in response to exchange rate shocks. [Results]: The research finds that (1) targeted coordination of macroprudential and monetary policies towards asset prices and price levels can maintain stability under exchange rate shocks; (2) the effective implementation of such coordinated policies not only mitigates the fluctuations in asset prices due to exchange rate shocks but also enhances the level of societal welfare; (3) in terms of choosing an exchange rate regime, a managed floating rate system can prevent policy overlaps and conflicts that might occur in a floating rate system during the coordination of macroprudential and monetary policies, thus offering comparative advantages. [Discussion]: The findings underscore the importance of policy integration in a dynamic and complex global economic environment. They provide policy recommendations for China and other emerging market countries on how to effectively maintain economic stability through the synergistic interplay of macroprudential and monetary policies amid fluctuations in exchange rates and asset prices.

Identification of drug targets and biochemical investigations on mechanisms of action is a are major issues in modern drug development. The present article reviews the classical “one drug” – “one target” paradigm. Novel methods for target deconvolution and for investigation of resistant strains based on protein mass spectrometry have shown that multiple gene products and adapta-tion mechanisms are involved in responses of pathogens to xenobiotics. This review is focused on protozoan pathogens. The conclusions can, however, be extended to chemotherapies against other pathogens or cancer. For this review we have searched Pubmed (pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) and Web of Science (webofscience.com) using the key words listed below (status May 2024)

We consider creation of entanglement between the remote electron spins using a magnetic nanoparticle attached to a cantilever tip (CT). We assume that the frequency of the CT vibrations matches the Larmor frequency of the spin (the CT-spin resonance). In the conditions of the CT-spin resonance the CT-spin system is described by the exactly solvable Jaynes-Kummings model. In this work using the evolution operator of the Jaynes-Kummings model we show that a movable CT can create an entangled state between the remote spins. The most striking result is that the entanglement between the remote spins can be achieved without measurement of the vibrational state of the CT.

This study introduces a method for quantitatively assessing the complexity and predictability of fish behavior in closed systems through the application of information entropy, offering a novel lens to understand how fish adapt to environmental changes. Utilizing simulations rooted in a random walk model for fish movement, we delve into entropy fluctuations under varying environmental conditions, including responses to feeding and external stimuli. Our findings underscore the utility of information entropy in capturing the intricacies of fish behavior, particularly highlighting the synchrony in collective actions and adaptations to environmental shifts. This research not only broadens our comprehension of fish behavior but also paves the way for its application in fields like aquaculture and resource management. Through our analysis, we discovered that smaller grid sizes in simulations capture detailed local fluctuations, while larger grids elucidate general trends, pinpointing a 2.5m grid as optimal for our study. Moreover, changes in swimming speeds and behavioral adaptations during feeding were quantitatively analyzed, with results illustrating significant behavior modifications. Additionally, employing a Gaussian Mixture Model helped to clarify the nuanced changes in fish behavior in response to altered light conditions, demonstrating the layered complexity of fish responses to environmental stimuli. This investigation confirms the efficacy of information entropy as a robust metric for evaluating fish shoal behavior, offering a fresh methodology for ecological and environmental studies, with promising implications for sustainable management practices.

The increase in population and the challenges caused by it are always among the concerns of decision-makers and policymakers in large countries. One of the most serious concerns is in the field of energy consumption. Optimizing energy use is one of the most effective ways to manage limited resources and energy. Energy consumption in residential houses constitutes a significant percentage of the total energy consumption worldwide; therefore, current research focusing on mathematical models aims to provide a predictive multi-objective linear mathematical model for residential house consumption. For this purpose, the consumption of water, electricity, and gas for 80 residential houses, including 10 household appliances and equipment on a weekly basis, has been considered. The results showed that the mixed-integer multi-objective predictor model is able to optimize household consumption plans compared to the actual state of household energy consumption. Since the goals of household satisfaction and energy consumption costs in the model conflict with each other, the influence coefficient was calculated to demonstrate the simultaneous achievement of these goals. The optimal value achievable with the default model for the model's purposes is 69%.

The dynamic evolution and variation of electrical loads is now a priority for optimum management and, above all, forecasting. Indeed, these dynamic load variations require computer tools able to implement optimal load forecasting models. Scientific research into automated models for forecasting electrical loads therefore represents a challenge for scientific researchers. Several research studies have therefore been carried out. These include machine learning approaches such as: LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory), Support Vector Machine (SVM) and others. This article proposes a comparison study between a hybrid model based on the wavelet transform coupled with the adaboost method, and LSTM, for forecasting electricity consumption loads. Python 3.10 was used for the studies. The first results obtained consisted in the study of electricity load forecasts over four (04) data sets of the year (January, April, August and December). These results are very satisfactory, showing a good correlation between the real results of the electrical load consumption data, and the results of the implemented model. The electrical load consumption data are collected from a renewable energy production source: photovoltaic solar energy. The model test results (R2) obtained range from 0.919 to 0.958. These results are representative of real data and reflect the model's performance. The second set of results concerns a comparative study between the methods used by Y. Xie et al (CNN, MLP, LSTM-AM and LSTM-AM-MLP), and our approach. The prediction results obtained between the approaches show a prediction gap ranging from 0.15 to 0.78 for RMSE and 0.83 for MAPE. These results show significant differences between the methods. The minimization of errors by our model, therefore, reflects the model's performance in terms of accuracy, which is necessary for the optimal management of consumer electricity load forecasts in order to ensure balance between supply and demand.

With the rapid development of gene therapy technology in recent years, its abuse as a method of sports doping in athletic has become a concern. However, there is still room for improvement in gene doping testing methods, and a robust animal model needs to be developed. Therefore, the purposes of this study were to establish a model of gene doping using recombinant adeno-associated virus vector-9 including the human erythropoietin gene (rAAV9-hEPO), and to establish a relevant testing method. First, it was attempted to establish the model using rAAV9-hEPO on mice. The results showed a significant increase in erythrocyte volume accompanied by an increase in spleen weight, confirming the validity of the model. Next, we attempted to detect proof of gene doping by targeting DNA and RNA. Direct proof of gene doping was detected using a TaqMan-qPCR assay with certain primers/probes. In addition, some indirect proof was identified in RNAs through the combination of a TB Green qPCR assay with RNA sequencing. Taken together, these results could provide the foundation for an effective test for gene doping in human athletes in the future.

With the rapid development of society and the deteriorating natural environment, there has been an increase in public events. This study aimed to explore how sadness and fear in the context of public emergency influence moral judgments. This research first induced feelings of sadness and fear by videos about public events and music, and then used moral scenarios from the CNI model to assess participants’ moral thinking. In Study 1, participants were divided into sadness group and neutral group, while in Study 2, participants were divided into fear group and neutral group. During the experiment, participants were exposed to different videos related to public events to induce the corresponding emotions, and emotional music was continuously played throughout the entire experiment. Participants were then asked to answer questions regarding moral judgments. The results showed that based on CNI model, sadness induced in the context of public events significantly increased C parameter, without affecting N or I parameter. Fear increased I parameter, without affecting C or I parameter. That is, sadness and fear induced in the context of public events can influence moral judgments. Specifically, sadness increases individuals’ sensitivity to consequence, and fear increases the general preference for inaction in moral judgments.

A dioxomolybdenum catalyst [(MoO2Cl2-O-MoO2Cl2)(L)] (1) (with L (1S,2S)-N,N´-bis(2-pyridinecarboxamide)-1,2-cyclohexane) was prepared and used as catalyst for the desulfurization of a multicomponent model fuel containing the most refractory sulfur compounds in real fuels. This complex showed to have a high efficiency to oxidize the aromatic benzothiophene derivative compounds present in fuels, mainly using a biphasic 1:1 model fuel/MeOH system. This process conciliates catalytic oxidative and extractive desulfurization, occurring the oxidation of the sulfur compounds in the polar organic solvent. The oxidative catalytic performance of (1) showed to be influenced by the presence of water in the system. Using 50% aq. H2O2 it was possible to reuse the catalyst and the extraction solvent MeOH during ten consecutive cycles without loss of desulfurization efficiency.

Synthetic materials such as Carbon, Kevlar, and Glass fibers are extensively utilized in various industries due to their superior characteristics including high stiffness, great strength, low den-sity, and high wear resistance, these advantages contributed to making them widespread in ap-plications like; aerospace, automobile, civil and electronics. This research is carried out to enhance the creep compliance of epoxy composite material by considering two types of fibers as reinforcement. A composite material is produced by combining two fibers, Kevlar fiber mixed with sika epoxy resin, along with Carbon fiber also mixed with sika epoxy resin using a Hand-Layup process. Experiments and numerical modeling are examined to offer a comprehensive understanding creep behavior of epoxy composite material in different weight ratios. Burger and Prony models are used to represent stress relaxation and creep strain of Visco-elastic material. According to the results, sika epoxy resin reinforced with Kevlar and Carbon fibers exhibits enhancement in the mechanical properties compared with pure epoxy. The use of Kev-lar/Sika epoxy composite results in higher creep compliance and modulus of elasticity compared with Carbon/Sika epoxy composite.

Purpose: Post-pandemic management of COVID-19 infections and any emergent outbreaks is as an endemic disease remains a public health concern. Vaccine hesitancy may continue to hamper efforts to respond any new disease outbreaks and future epidemics. This qualitative study aimed to explore factors influencing covid-19 vaccine acceptance and hesitancy in Kenya too gain deeper insights on this issue. Methods: The study was implemented in Western Kenya using key informant interviews. Fourteen (14) key informants were purposively selected for the study. All interviews were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis. Interpretation of findings was done within the framework of the Health Belief Model. Key findings: Knowledge was a critical factor in combatting misinformation and fostering vaccine acceptance among participants in this study. Misinformation included rumors that the vaccine lowers immunity and was intended for population control. Cues to action included influence from political and opinion leaders and observing the loss of life among unvaccinated individuals. Perceived barriers to vaccine uptake included fear of vaccine safety, side effects, long waiting times at that time of our study, fear of contracting the COVID-19 at vaccination sites, family/spousal influence on vaccine uptake and fear of the unknown with the vaccine. Conclusion: Findings from this study provides insight into areas for targeted strategies for managing Covid-19 vaccinations and future pandemics. Within the framework of the Health Belief Model, this study identified salient barriers and facilitators of COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy that may be helpful to inform future pandemic response.

“Dark Web” usually describes a new world of e-living space perceived as a place, free from con-straints, in which its main actors generally are criminal, unstable, and mentally disturbed individ-uals. Nowadays, advancements in information and internet technologies have made the Dark Web more accessible in recent decades. The Dark Web is a virtual world component; therefore, as-sessing users’ behavior may be crucial in understanding motivation to use it. This study aims to discuss the behavior patterns of Dark Web users within the theoretical framework of the technol-ogy acceptance model via a structural equation model. The resulting structural equation model showed that considered causal relationships were statistically significant.

This article introduces an analytical framework that interprets individual measures of entropy-based mobility derived from mobile phone data. We explore and analyze two widely recognized entropy metrics: random entropy and uncorrelated Shannon entropy. These metrics are estimated through collective variables of human mobility, including movement trends and population density. By employing a collisional model, we establish statistical relationships between entropy measures and mobility variables. Furthermore, our research addresses three primary objectives: firstly, validating the model; secondly, exploring correlations between aggregated mobility and entropy measures in comparison to five economic indicators; and finally, demonstrating the utility of entropy measures. Specifically, we provide an effective population density estimate that offers a more realistic understanding of social interactions. This estimation takes into account both movement regularities and intensity, utilizing real-time data analysis conducted during the peak period of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The paper examines the various uncertainties encountered in high-frequency trading (HFT) environments and delves into the multiple challenges faced by HFT firms in navigating the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (referred to as the "Dodd-Frank Act"), particularly during the initial stages of its enactment. These challenges include the ambiguity surrounding the definition of HFT, the lack of clarity regarding regulatory requirements and boundaries, inconsistencies in enforcement resulting from deviations in understanding the content, and the absence of detailed descriptions of the Act’s provisions. These hurdles significantly impact not only the daily operations of HFT firms but also pose higher demands on their long-term strategic planning and risk management. Drawing upon the Data, Information, Knowledge, Wisdom, and Purpose (DIKWP) model, this study employs an innovative analytical framework. Through the comprehensive application of conceptual space, cognitive space, and semantic space, it provides a systematic methodology for identifying and analyzing the aforementioned issues. This approach not only aids firms in better comprehending and adhering to complex regulatory requirements but also enables them to explore new business opportunities and competitive advantages while ensuring compliance.

Although various atmospheric corrosion simulation models have been developed that give good results, industrial environments are still challenging. This paper aims to investigate the effect industrial atmospheres in Bor on the mechanical properties of structural steel S235JR and to create a constitutive model and also laboratory experimental conditions that will give the best results as an accelerated corrosion test. Atmospheric corrosion tests lasted six months, using sites close to the Electrolytic Refining Plant and Sulphuric Acid Plant, as well as air quality monitoring stations at a remote location in the city of Bor. The laboratory experiments included a salt chamber test lasting 120 h and 240 h and immersing the specimen in the electrolyte from the Electrolytic Refining Plant for 30 days. The results were compared with the standard specimens stored in the laboratory. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) method was used to identify the composition of corrosion products. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis was applied to analyze the fracture surfaces of the specimens. The use of the Complete Gurson Model (CGM) described the tensile characteristics of the corroded specimens. The study has shown that an enhanced acceleration model and conditions could be developed using numerical analysis of the test results.

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology offers a national operational 7-day ensemble streamflow forecast service covering regions of high environmental, economic and social significance. This semi-automated service generates streamflow forecasts every morning and is seamlessly integrated into the Bureau's Hydrologic Forecasting System (HyFS). Ensemble rainfall forecasts, European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and Poor Man's Ensemble (PME), available in the Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) suite, are used to generate these streamflow forecasts. The NWP rainfall undergoes pre-processing using the Catchment Hydrologic Pre-Processer (CHyPP) before being fed into the GR4H rainfall-runoff model, which is embedded in the Short-term Water Information Forecasting Tools (SWIFT) hydrological modelling package. The simulated streamflow is then post-processed using the Error Representation and Reduction In Stages (ERRIS). We evaluated the performance of the operational rainfall and streamflow forecasts for 96 catchments using four years of operational data between January 2020 and December 2023. Performance evaluation metrics included CRPS, relative CRPS, CRPSS, and PIT-Alpha for ensemble forecasts and NSE, PCC, MAE, KGE, PBias and RMSE and three categorical metrics CSI, FAR and POD for deterministic forecasts. The skill scores CRPS, relative CRPS, CRPSS and PIT-Alpha, gradually decreased for both rainfall and streamflow as the forecast horizon increased from Day 1 to Day 7. A similar pattern emerged for NSE, KGE, PCC, MAE and RMSE as well as the categorical metrics. Forecast performance also progressively decreased with the higher streamflow regime. Most catchments showed positive performance skills, meaning the ensemble forecast outperformed climatology. Both streamflow and rainfall forecast skills varied spatially across the country – and were generally better in the high runoff generating catchments, and poorer in the drier catchments situated in the western part of the Great Dividing Range, South Australia and mid-west of Western Australia. We did not find any association between model forecast skill and the catchment area. Our findings demonstrate that the 7-day ensemble streamflow forecasting service is robust and draws great confidence from agencies that use these forecasts to support decisions around water resources management.

It is the aim of this article to introduce a concise notation that is be able to capture the most important dimensions of sexuality and thus facilitate discussions. Moreover, the major three dimensions - sex, gender, and sexual orientation - lead to a straightforward classification which motivates the quest for stringent explanatory models, some of which are also discussed.

Our study clarified what is the same or not between Tier 1(Tokyo) and Tier 2(Kansai) metropolitan areas on shrinking cities problems. Both of metropolitan areas will dramatically decrease the Housing Asset Value (HAV) where areas of bedroom communities are located. On the other hand, compared to Tokyo, Kansai has been hit by decline at a faster pace. This raises the question of whether Kansai will be more or less impoverished by the deflation of the HAV. According to our results, Kansai municipalities should expect the HAV losses of 38% by 2045, but the HAV losses would be higher in the northern suburbs of Osaka. Kansai has to face the effects of the HAV deflation faster than Tokyo. But Tokyo has a neck of higher residential land price, the income multiplier of the HAV per household is about 4. The HAV deflation hits more severe problems for elderly households in Tokyo. Considering our study, Tier 2 metropolitan area is much faster effects of the HAV deflation, but Tier 1 metropolitan area has more serious social problem than Tier 2. Hence, there are different problems of different natures rather than which one is more severely affected by the deflation of the HAV.

Abstract: Long-term rainfall, temperature and solar radiation time series data are required to simulate crop yield and yield variability. A field experiment conducted at Mount Makulu was used to simulate the interactive effect of planting dates (SD1, SD2, SD3), maize varieties (PIO30G19, PIO30B50, ZMS606), and nitrogen fertilizer application levels (N1 = 66; N2 = 132; N3 = 198 kg N ha-1) on strategic and economic assessment. Statistical downscaled climate datasets from three GCMs from 1971-2000, 2010-2039, 2040-2069, and 2070-2099 using Representative Concentration Pathways (RCP4.5, RCP8.5) were utilized as DSSAT v4.7 inputs. The Seasonal analysis Program of the DSSAT model was used to simulate the impacts of climate change on maize yield. Results show increasing trends in temperature while there is variability in rainfall. The biophysical analysis showed varied grain yield responses to sowing date, maize cultivars and N application rates. The Mean-Gini analysis showed that PIO30B50 had an efficient late sowing data (SD3) with an application of 132 and 168 kg N ha-1 under both scenarios. Further, PIO30G19 at SD3 with 198 kg N ha-1 would be the most dominant management option for maize grain yield under future climate scenarios from 2010-2099. This research emphasizes the urgency for tailored adaptation actions and collaborative efforts along the maize value chain to mitigate future yield losses and sustain food security. Increasing maize grain yield requires implementing adaptation strategies such as varying sowing dates, adopting late-maturing varieties with high thermal heat requirements under future climate scenarios.

Dynamic crossflow filtration (DCF) is the state-of-the-art technology for solid-liquid separation from viscous and sensitive feed streams in the food and biopharma industry. Up to now, the potential of industrial processes is often not fully exploited because fixed recipes are usually applied to run the processes. Therefore, a digital twin has been developed to optimize an industrial brownfield DCF plant. The core of the digital twin is a mechanistic-empirical process model combining fundamental filtration laws with process expert knowledge. The effect of variation of selected process and model parameters on plant productivity has been assessed using a model-based design-of-experiments approach and a regression metamodel has been trained with the data. A cyclic program that bidirectionally communicates with the DCF asset serves as frame of the digital twin. It monitors the process dynamics membrane torque and transmembrane pressure and feeds back the optimum permeate flow rate setpoint to the physical asset in almost real-time during process runs. The presented digital twin framework is a simple example how an industrial established process can be controlled by a hybrid model-based algorithm. With a digital process dynamics model at hand, the presented metamodel optimization approach can be easily transferred to other (bio)chemical processes.

In this review paper, we discuss the use of BERT, one of the most well-liked deep learning-based language models. The model's operation mechanism, key areas of applicability to text analytics tasks, comparisons with related models for each activity, and a description of certain proprietary models are all covered in this work. The data from several dozen original scientific studies that have been published in the last few years and have garnered the greatest interest from the scientific community were systematized in order to prepare this review. All researchers and students who wish to learn about the most recent developments in the field of natural language text analysis may find this survey helpful. Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers, or BERT for short, is the subject of a thorough investigation that we present. The area of natural language processing holds significant importance in the creation of intelligent systems. To do a variety of activities, one must comprehend the sentence's correct meaning in order to produce the desired result. Computers have a hard time understanding languages because of how context constantly changes. The main challenge in natural language processing tasks is getting computers to understand text context, and BERT is seen as a revolution in this regard. It picks up the language and its meaning in a manner that is quite similar to how the human brain processes meaning from sentences. Its capacity to identify a word from both the left and right contexts of a sentence makes it special. A new era in the perception and comprehension of natural languages has been ushered in with the development of BERT, which could help computers understand natural languages more fully. This study aims to provide readers with a deeper knowledge of the BERT language model and how it is applied to different NLP tasks.

The air transport industry has experienced important transformations over the last decades, despite its continuous global trend of growth. After air transport liberalization process, the present market situation depicts a reduced number of large hub & spoke airlines and an important number of so-called low-cost carriers (LCC). One may wonder why airlines that were once thriving and profitable before liberalization have disappeared, some even recently amid an expansion in demand. To answer that question and others related to it, this paper proposes a management model focused on the airline business, putting in relation the main variables defining the business behavior of an airline. The lessons learned from the past, and the solutions gathered from the model related with, will provide a sound basis to address the new challenges for the next years to come, as it is the case of the new environmental regulations focused on the air transport decarbonization.

Machine learning (ML) based on neural network (NN) facilitates data-driven techniques for handling large amounts of data, either obtained through experiments or simulations at multiple spatio-temporal scales, thereby finding the hidden patterns underlying these data and promoting efficient research methods. The main purpose of this paper is to extend the capabilities of a new solver, called realFluidReactingNNFoam, under development at University of Perugia in OpenFOAM with NN algorithm for replacing complex real-fluid thermophysical property evaluations, using the approach of coupling OpenFOAM and Python-trained NN models. Currently, NN models are trained against data generated using the Peng-Robinson equation of state (PR-EoS) assuming mixture frozen temperature. The OpenFOAM solver, where needed, calls the NN models in each grid-cell with appropriate inputs, and the returned results are used and stored in suitable OpenFOAM data structures. Such inference for the thermophysical properties is achieved via the “Neural Network Inference in C made Easy” (NNICE) library, which proved to be very efficient and robust. The overall model is validated considering a liquid-rocket benchmark comprised of liquid-oxygen (LOX) and gaseous-hydrogen (GH2) streams. The model accounts for real-fluid thermodynamics and transport properties, making use of the PR-EoS and the Chung transport models. First, the development of a real-fluid model (RFM) with artificial neural network is described in detail. Then, the numerical results of the transcritical mixing layer (LOX/GH2) benchmark are presented and analyzed in terms of accuracy and computational ef-ficiency. Results of the overall implementation indicate that the combined OpenFOAM and ML approach provides a speed-up factor higher than seven, while preserving the original solver accuracy.

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) continues to pose a significant global health challenge, with millions of people affected and new cases emerging each year. While various treatment and prevention methods exist, including antiretroviral therapy and non-vaccine approaches, developing an effective vaccine remains the most crucial and cost-effective solution to combat the HIV epidemic. Despite significant advancements in HIV research, the HIV vaccine field has faced numerous challenges, and only one clinical trial has demonstrated a modest level of efficacy. This review delves into the history of HIV vaccines and the current efforts in HIV prevention, emphasizing pre-clinical vaccine development using the non-human primate model (NHP) of HIV infection. NHP models offer valuable insights into potential preventive strategies for combating HIV, and they play a vital role in informing and guiding the development of novel vaccine candidates before they can proceed to human clinical trials.

The increasing demand for sustainable products and services has become a constant requirement by the different stakeholders in an organization. Higher Education Institutions (HEI) have a crucial role in training conscious and competent professionals to lead these changes. Chemical analyses laboratories bring together the proper mix, where the adoption of mature and efficient management systems proves to be crucial not only to better train the institutions´ human resources but also to cooperate in recruiting research projects and other services to benefit society. Maturity models assist in the needed stages for sustainable growth to take place. This paper proposes a Maturity Model based on standardized norms to guide adjustments related to quality, risks, safety, and environment of chemical analyses laboratories in public higher education institutions. This research was done in four stages: theoretical research about Maturity Models, sustainability, and integrated management systems; survey with laboratories; case study at a chemical analyses laboratory of an HEI; and structuring and validating a maturity model. As a result of this, the model includes eight dimensions (Strategy, Leadership, Management, Operations, Continuous Improvement, Sustainability, Culture, and Integration), 31 subdimensions, and 204 management practices to assess and guide chemical analyses laboratories to sustainable maturity levels.

This paper investigates the relationship between public debt and economic growth in the context of a panel kink regression with latent group structures. The proposed model allows us to explore the heterogeneous threshold effects of public debt on economic growth based on unknown group patterns. We propose a least squares estimator and demonstrate the consistency of estimating group structures. The finite sample performance of the proposed estimator is evaluated by simulations. Our findings reveal that the nonlinear relationship between public debt and economic growth is characterized by a heterogeneous threshold level, which varies among different groups, and highlight that the mixed results found in previous studies may stem from the assumption of a homogeneous threshold effect.

The exposure of Mediterranean forests to large wildfires requires mechanisms to prevent and mitigate their negative effects on the territory and ecosystems. Fuel models synthesize the complexity and heterogeneity of forest fuels and allow understanding and modelling of fire behavior. However, it is sometimes challenging to define the fuel type in a structurally heterogeneous forest stand due to the mixture of characteristics from different types and limitations of qualitative field observation and passive and active airborne remote sensing. This can impact the performance of classification models that rely on in situ identification of fuel type as ground-truth, which can lead to a mistaken prediction of fuel types over larger areas in fire prediction models. In this study, a handheld mobile laser scanner (HMLS) system were used to assess its capability to define Prometheus fuel types in 43 forest plots in Aragón (NE Spain). The HMLS system captured the vertical and horizontal distribution of fuel at extremely high resolution to derive high-density three-dimensional point clouds (average: 63,148 points/m2) which were discretized into voxels of 0.05 m3. The total number of voxels in each 5 cm height stratum was calculated to quantify the fuel volume in each stratum, providing the vertical distribution of fuels (m3/m2) for each plot at centimetric scale. Additionally, fuel volume was computed for each Prometheus height stratum (0.60, 2, and 4 m) for each plot. The Prometheus fuel types were satisfactory identified for each plot, which was compared with the fuel type estimated in the field. This led to the modification of the ground-truth in 10 out of the 43 plots, with estimation errors between types 2–3, 5–6, and 6–7. These results demonstrate the ability of HMLS systems to capture fuel heterogeneity at centimetric scales for the definition of fuel types in Mediterranean forests, making them powerful tools for fuel mapping and fire modelling, and ultimately for improving wildfire prevention and forest management.

In order to study the influence of falling rock shape on its rolling characteristics and realize the optimization of falling rock protection design, the following research was carried out. Design model experiments to explore the rolling characteristics of different shapes of rockfalls. Based on the experimental results, it was found that the slenderness ratio, center of gravity, and rotational inertia of the rockfalls can affect their rolling characteristics, leading to swaying and changing the rolling axis during the rolling process, thereby affecting their rolling speed. On this basis, the formation mechanism of rolling resistance is analyzed, and the main cause of energy loss is the rolling resistance arm formed with the rolling surface during rockfall rolling, and a shape parameter to quantify the rolling resistance is proposed. The parameters are substituted into the kinematic formula, in which the influence of the rockfall shape, slope and slope roughness on the rolling speed is considered. Combined with the offset and initial position of the rockfall, the formula can be used to calculate the rolling speed and impact energy in the rolling region and any position in the region. The calculation formula was validated using model experimental data, and the results showed that the error between the experimental and calculated values was small. The error was corrected based on the experimental data. After on-site testing and verification, it can provide reference for the management of rockfall disasters.

To achieve a micro-destructive and rapid measurement of the wood density of standing trees, this study investigated the feasibility of using the micro-drilling resistance method, formulated a mathematical model, explored the potential for a unified model across multiple tree species, and analyzed the influence of moisture content on measurement accuracy. First, 231 tree cores and drill resistance data were sampled from Pinus massoniana, Cunninghamia lanceolate, and Cryptomeria fortunei. The basic density and moisture content of each core were measured, and the average value of each resistance data record was calculated. Second, the average drill resistance, the natural logarithm of average drill resistance, and absolute moisture content were used as independent variables, while the wood basic density was used as the dependent variable. Third, the total model of the three tree species and sub-model for each tree species were established through a stepwise regression method. Finally, the accuracy of each model was compared and analyzed with that of using the average basic density of each tree species as an estimated density. The results revealed that the estimation accuracy of the sub-model for each tree species was 1.670 percentage points higher than the average value of each tree species used as the density estimation value for these tree species. Additionally, except for Cryptomeria fortunei, the natural logarithm of drill resistance significantly influenced the wood density model at a significance level of 0.05. Moreover, moisture content significantly affected the total model and sub-models of Pinus massoniana at a significance level of 0.05. The estimation accuracy of the total mathematical model was 2.125 percentage points lower than that achieved using the average basic density of each tree species to predict their density. The results indicated the feasibility of using the micro-drilling resistance method to measure the wood density of standing trees. Moreover, the relationship between wood density and drill resistance did not follow a linear pattern, and moisture content slightly influenced the drill needle resistance. Furthermore, the establishment of a mathematical model for each tree species was deemed essential. This study provides valuable guidance for measuring the wood density of standing trees through the micro-drilling resistance method.

In this paper, we shall introduce the interval-valued spatial error model. Based on the idea of least square method of single-valued case, we give the parameter estimator for interval-valued spatial error model. The theoretical properties of the proposed estimator are proved. Finally, we give the numerical analysis and a real example.

Red cabbage (RC), a cruciferous vegetable rich in various bioactive substances, can significantly reduce the risk factors of several chronic metabolic diseases, but its mechanism remains clear. Given that the relationship between diet, gut microbiota and health, a diet -induced mice obesity model was used to elucidate the effects of RC on gut microbial composition and interactions in mice. After 24-hour dietary intervention, high-fat (HF) diet and intake of RC led to increased Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratios in the feces of mice. RC also reduced the relative abundance of Bifidobacteria, Lactobacillus and Akkermansia muciniphila in mice fed low fat (LF) diet. After 8-weeks dietary intervention, RC significantly changed the structure and the ecological network of gut microbial community. Particularly, RC inhibited an HF-diet induced increase of AF12 in mice, and this genus was positively correlated with body weight, low-density lipoprotein level and fecal bile acid of mice. Unclassified Clostridiales, specifically increased by RC consumption, was also found to negatively correlate with hepatic free cholesterol levels in mice. Overall, our results demonstrated that RC modulation of gut microbial composition and interactions is associated with the attenuation of HF diet-induced body weight gain and altered cholesterol metabolism of mice.

Hepatic carboxylesterase 1(CES1) metabolizes many prodrugs into active ingredients or direct-acting drugs into inactive metabolites. We aim to develop a semi-physiologically based pharmacokinetic model(Semi-PBPK model) to simultaneously predict pharmacokinetics of CES1 substrates and their active metabolites in liver cirrhosis(LC) patients. Six prodrugs(enalapril, benazepril, cilazapril, temocapril, perindopril and oseltamivir) and three direct-acting drugs (flumazenil, pethidine and remimazolam) were selected. The parameters including organ blood flows, plasma binding protein concentrations, functional liver volume, hepatic enzymatic activity, glomerular filtration rate(GFR) and gastrointestinal transit rate were introduced into the simulation. Pharmacokinetic profiles of these drugs and their active metabolites were simulated in 100 virtual subjects. The developed semi-PBPK model, following validation in healthy subjects, was extrapolated to LC patients. Most of the observations are within the 5% and 95% quantile of simulations from 100 virtual patients. The estimated AUC and Cmax are within 0.5-2-fold of observation. The sensitivity analysis showed that the decreased plasma exposure of active metabolite due to the decreased CES1 was partly attenuated by the decreased GFR. Conclusion: The developed PBPK model has successfully predicted pharmacokinetics of CES1 substrates and their metabolites in healthy subjects and LC patients, which assists in tailoring dosages of CES1 substrates in LC patients.

In some applications of microgrid and distributed generation, it is required to feed islanded or stand-alone loads with high-quality voltage to provide low total harmonic distortion (THD). To fulfil these demands, an LC filter is connected to the output terminals of power electronics converters. A cascaded voltage and current control loop with pulse-width modulation schemes are used to regulate the voltage and current in these systems. However, these strategies have some drawbacks, particularly when multiple-input multiple-output plants (MIMO) are controlled using single-input single-output (SISO) design methods. This methodology usually produces a sluggish transient response and cross-coupling between different control loops. In this paper, a model predictive control (MPC) strategy based on the concept of optimal switching sequences (OSS) is designed to control voltage and current in an LC filter connected to a three-level neutral-point clamped converter. The strategy solves two well-formulated optimisation problems to achieve control of the LC filter variables and the voltages of the DC-link capacitors. Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) results are obtained to validate the feasibility of the proposed strategy, using a PLECS-RT HIL platform and a DSP Microlab Box controller. In addition to the good dynamic performance of the proposed OSS-MPC, it is demonstrated by the HIL results that the control algorithm is capable of obtaining low total harmonic distortion (THD) in the output voltage for different conditions.

Audio classification using deep learning models, essential for applications like voice assistants and music analysis, faces challenges when deployed on edge devices due to their limited computational resources and memory. Achieving a balance between performance, efficiency, and accuracy is a significant obstacle in optimizing these models for such constrained environments. In this investigation, we evaluate diverse deep learning architectures, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), for audio classification tasks on the ESC 50, UrbanSound8k, and Audio Set datasets. Our empirical findings indicate that Mel Spectrograms outperform raw audio data, attributing this enhancement to their synergistic alignment with advanced image classification algorithms and their congruence with human auditory perception. To address the constraints of model size, we apply model compression techniques, notably magnitude pruning, Taylor Pruning, and 8-bit quantization. The research demonstrates that a hybrid pruned model achieves a commendable accuracy rate of 89 percent, which, although marginally lower than the 92 percent accuracy of the uncompressed CNN, strikingly illustrates an equilibrium between efficiency and performance. Subsequently, we deploy the optimized model on Raspberry Pi 4 and NVIDIA Jetson Nano platforms for audio classification tasks. These findings highlight the significant potential of model compression strategies in enabling effective deep learning applications on resource-limited devices, with minimal compromise on accuracy.

Spatial regression models have garnered significant attention across several disciplines, including functional magnetic resonance imaging analysis, econometrics, home price analysis, and many other domains. The phenomenon of sparsity is often found in nature, when a limited number of factors contribute significantly to the overall variation. Spatial regression models frequently use sparsity to indicate less complex computational and more superficial covariance structures. The spatial error model is a significant spatial regression model that focuses on the geographical dependence present in the error terms rather than the response variable. This study proposes an effective approach for estimating the vector of regression coefficients in the spatial error model, taking into consideration of the prior knowledge that some coefficients are insignificant and there is multicollinearity among the regressors. It also introduces pretest and shrinkage ridge estimators for spatial error regression models, evaluating their performance compared to traditional maximum likelihood estimators. It also assesses their efficacy using real-world data and bootstrapping techniques for comparison purposes.

The Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) is a Swiss research infrastructure initiative that aims to facilitate the exchange of health-related data in a FAIR manner. The SPHN Dataset and SPHN RDF Schema form an essential part of the SPHN Semantic Interoperability Framework, which currently covers mostly clinical routine data. To facilitate the integration of omics data produced by the SPHN National Data Streams, a genomics extension was developed. This was done in close collaboration with clinicians, researchers, bioinformaticians, and data managers, from Swiss university hospitals, academic research groups and the omics platforms. Here, we present the genomics extension of the SPHN RDF Schema, which can be used to semantically describe genomics experiments and covers both clinical and research domains. The schema centers around the general omics process flow, with concepts that denote the individual steps, such as sample processing, assay, and data processing. Genomics-specific specializations are provided, such as library preparation, sequencing assay, and sequencing analysis. The schema also facilitates in capturing other important omics metadata, such as information about the sequencing instrument, standard operating procedure, and quality control metrics. The extension aligns with existing semantic data models and reuses common biomedical vocabularies, such as EDAM, OBI and FAIR genomes, as value sets, thereby facilitating semantic interoperability. It will be used to FAIRify data that is produced within the Swiss network and to facilitate sharing this data as one knowledge graph for reuse among its participants.

This study measured secondary students’ digital literacy using a digital game-based assessment system that was designed and developed based on the Evidence-Centered Game Design (ECGD) approach. A total of 188 secondary students constituted the valid samples in this study. Fine-grained behavioral data generated from students’ gameplay processes were collected and recorded with the assessment system. The Delphi method was used to extract feature variables related to digital literacy from the process data, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method was used to construct the measurement model. The assessment results of the ECGD-based assessment had a high correlation with standardized test scores, which have been shown to be reliable and valid in prior large-scale assessment studies.

Modelling and presenting mathematical relationships for human behaviour is one of the most complex issues that researchers have always dealt with. In this article, a bottom-up framework for calculating agricultural needs is presented using the socioeconomic characteristics of farmers (such as education level, age, and dependence on income on agriculture) and how their lands are located concerning each other (interactions between neighbours). The objective function of this framework is to maximize the profit of individual farmers based on the amount of water received. Two scenarios, ABM1 (not considering neighbourhood effects) and ABM2 (all cases of farmers' placement and feeling neighbourhood effects), were investigated. In the first scenario (ABM1), there was a noteworthy reduction in water deficit volumes by approximately 35%, accompanied by a 20% increment in farmers' profits. Interestingly, higher risk-taking tendencies correlated with reduced profit margins. The second scenario (ABM2) underscored the significant role of neighborhood dynamics in cultivating diverse behavioral patterns among farmers, subsequently affecting their profitability. A granular examination revealed that farmers with a higher propensity for risk-taking generally accrued lower profits. Additionally, the study facilitated the calculation of total annual profits and average water consumption for each farmer, offering valuable insights for optimizing water resource management and allocation strategies. These findings are instrumental for planners and water resource managers aiming to promote sustainable agricultural practices and efficient water use.

Bitcoin has been launched for over a decade and made an increasing impact on the world’s financial order, which attracted extensive attention of researchers. Bitcoin system runs on a dynamic P2P network, containing tens of thousands of nodes including reachable nodes and unreachable nodes. In this article, a detection system BNS (Bitcoin Network Sniffer) was prososed, which could collect as many Bitcoin nodes as possible. For reachable nodes, the authors designed an algorithm BRF (Bitcoin Reachable-nodes Finding) based on node activity evaluation, which reduced the nodes to be detected and greatly shortened the detection time. For unreachable nodes, the authors trained a dicision tree model BUF(Bitcoin Unreachable-nodes Finding) to identify unreachable nodes based on attribute features from massive node addresses. Experiments showed that BNS performed better than the website "Bitnodes" in total number and efficiency. Based on the experimental results, the authors analyzed the real network size, node "churn" and geographical distribution.

Capsizing accidents are regarded as marine accidents with a high rate of casualties per accident. Approximately 89% of all such accidents occur in small ships (vessels with gross tonnage less than 10 tons). Stability calculations are critical for assessing the risk of capsizing incidents and evaluating a ship's seaworthiness. Despite the high frequency of capsizing accidents involving small ships, they are generally exempt from adhering to stability regulations, thus remaining systemically exposed to the risk of capsizing. Moreover, the absence of essential design documents complicates direct ship stability calculations. This study utilizes hull form feature data—obtained from the general arrangement of small ships—as input for a deep learning model. The model is structured as a multilayer neural network and aims to infer hydrostatic curves, which is required data for stability calculations.

Introduction: Skin cancer is the 5th most common cancers in western countries with surge in the cases of occurrence with the passing time making it a global burden on health care system. In this present study, the cancer preventive activities of Argemone mexicana Linn (AM), which has been widely used by folklores to treat different ailments. Aim: The experiment advocates the cancer preventive activity of ethanolic extract of AM and to against DMBA/TPA induced skin cancer in mice model. Materials and Methods: Experimental animals were divided into doses group,100mg/kg B.W, 250mg/kg B.W, 500mg/kg B.W and 1000mg/kg B.W and subjected to toxic dose determination. The DMBA/TPA method was followed to induce the skin cancer in mice along with the feeding of non-toxic doses of 100mg/ kg, 250mg/kg, 500mg/kg mice were given as a pretreatment and 500mg/kg as a separate post treatment group as per body weight. The anti-cancerous activity was determined by different parameters on 0day, 30th day and 60th day including change in incidence of tumour induction, haematological parameters, histopathology and changes in pattern of TNF-α secretion and NF-kB (p65 subunit) signaling pathway in the blood serum. Results: The 1000 mg/kg BW was found to exhibit sub-acute toxicity. It was observed that the 500mg/kg BW pretreated group resisted and delayed the tumour formation for up to 8 weeks as compared to the Negative Control group where growth was seen in 4 weeks. The tumour burden was also found to be varying in a dose-dependent where on 60th day, Negative Control group and 100mg/kg BW was found to possess significantly high (p&lt;0.001) tumour burden in comparison to the 500mg/kg BW group where tumour burden was not found till 60th day. The study was validated by body weight, blood parameters, histopathology and altered pattern in regulation of TNF-α and NF-kB signaling pathway which play an important role in cancer progression. The expression of TNF-α and p65 subunit of NF-kB signaling pathway was found to be reduced significantly in a dose dependent manner and found to be highly reduced in 500mg/kg BW group (p&lt;0.001) as compared to Negative control. Conclusion: The 500mg/kg BW pretreated group was found to have significant results in comparison to 500mg/kg BW post treatment group. The study revealed effective cancer preventive activity of Argemone mexicana Linn leaves (AML) in the mice model and paved a pathway for molecular approaches which could be explored more in future studies.

The increase in online orders following the COVID-19 pandemic has heightened consumer ex-pectations regarding prompt deliveries. However, this phenomenon has subsequently triggered a substantial increase in the number of vehicles navigating through urban areas, highly affecting the overall quality of life within cities. Capitalizing on the complexities posed by urban logistics, this paper proposes an innovative digital business model for logistics services. In this context, we introduce “Urban Logistics as a Service (ULaaS), platform”, a concept rooted in the principals of circular economy and harnessed through the application of the Canvas methodology. The con-ceptual framework outlines the ULaaS ecosystem and explores potential user-functionality com-binations. The proposed platform serves as both an on-demand service provider and a control hub for stakeholders such as traffic authorities, policymakers, logistics providers, carriers, and shippers. This platform streamlines citywide logistics to enhance movement efficiency, ease congestion, and reduce emissions. The ULaaS concept was validated through analysis of data collected from interviews in the unique social context of Campinas City, Brazil. The key value-generating mod-ules within the ULaaS ecosystem include parking reservations, shared warehousing, e-commerce deliveries, and comprehensive logistics solutions. However, implementing Urban Logistics as a Service has challenges. These include defining public and private sector roles, creating effective pricing models, and fairly distributing respon-sibilities among service providers. The paper also elucidates various monetization models and required investments, crucial for fostering potential private sector involvement.

The pharmaceutical industry is making significant strides in enhancing process comprehension through the development of concepts like Quality by Design (QbD) and Process Analytical Technology (PAT). This shift has moved from traditional offline testing methods to real-time estimation of product quality. The dissolution characteristics of pharmaceutical tablets play a crucial role in maximizing the release of medications and their bioavailability. One factor that can affect dissolution is the blending procedure. Inadequate mixing can lead to patches of concentrated active components or excipients within the tablet, resulting in inconsistent dissolution behavior. A study investigated the impact of blending time and speed on the dissolution behavior of Amlodipine tablets using near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and multivariate modeling. NIR spectra were collected for Amlodipine tablets produced under various blending conditions using a 2-level central composite design. Dissolving profiles were analyzed using a USP dissolution device. Multivariate analysis techniques, including principal component analysis (PCA), partial least squares (PLS), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), were applied to the collected NIR spectra. The findings demonstrated that blending speed and time had a significant influence on the dissolving properties of Amlodipine tablets. Blending at faster speeds and for shorter durations resulted in excessive shear and insufficient mixing, ultimately reduced drug release. The multivariate models constructed using ANN outperformed SVM and PLS in predicting dissolution profiles based on NIR spectra. This research highlights the effectiveness of NIR spectroscopy and multivariate modeling in optimizing tablet dissolution. These advancements enable continuous manufacturing of high-quality pharmaceutical products.

In the wake of the rapid deployment of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), this study aims to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of SMR operations through a deeper understanding of human factors in their interaction within digital control room systems. Recognizing the pivotal role of human understanding in this new era of nuclear power, we employed electroencephalogram (EEG)-based monitoring to provide an unparalleled real-time view into operators' cognitive states. By interfacing detailed human models, informed by EEG metrics, with specific operational tasks, we recreate potential operational scenarios using an SMR simulator and capture intricate human responses therein. Our results elucidated the intricate relationship between EEG-derived data and human performance shaping factors, indicating a marked correlation between certain EEG patterns and operational efficiencies. Conclusively, these findings underscore the potential of EEG monitoring not only as a diagnostic tool but as an instrumental aid in the design and operation of future SMR digital control rooms. The insights derived offer a roadmap for the development of practical strategies, ensuring more effective and safer SMR operations.

We present an any-to-one voice conversion (VC) system, using an autoregressive model and LPCNet vocoder, aimed to enhance the converted speech in terms of naturalness, intelligibility, and speaker similarity. As the name implies, non-parallel any-to-one voice conversion does not require paired source and target speeches and can be employed for arbitrary speech conversion tasks. Recent advancements in neural-based vocoders, such as WaveNet, have improved the efficiency of speech synthesis. However, in practice, we find that the trajectory of some generated waveforms is not consistently smooth, leading to occasional voice errors. To address this issue, we propose to use an autoregressive (AR) conversion model along with the high-fidelity LPCNet vocoder. This combination not only solves the problems of waveform fluidity but also produces more natural and clear speech, with the added capability of real-time speech generation. To precisely represent the linguistic content of a given utterance, we use speaker-independent PPG features (SI-PPG) computed from an automatic speech recognition (ASR) model trained on a multi-speaker corpus. Next, a conversion model maps the SI-PPG to the acoustic representations used as input features for the LPCNet. The proposed autoregressive structure enables our system to produce the following prediction step outputs from the acoustic features predicted in the previous step. We evaluate the effectiveness of our system by performing any-to-one conversion pairs between native English speakers. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms state-of-the-art systems, producing higher speech quality and greater speaker similarity.

. Manufacturers are increasingly adopting mixed-flow manufacturing models to meet the growing customized, diverse, and dynamic customer demand. In such an environment, material distribution scheduling optimization is vital for smooth operations and is integral to production management. However, manufacturers frequently encounter problems like disordered and delayed material distribution. Traditional scheduling methods suffer from problems like inadequate transparency, delayed decision directives, and suboptimal results, impacting performance. To this end, this study proposes a dynamic material distribution scheduling optimization model and strategy based on digital twin (DT) to address these problems. Firstly, we introduce workstation satisfaction and establish a material distribution path optimization model minimizing total distribution cost while maximizing workstation satisfaction. Subsequently, we present a cloud-edge computing-based decision framework and explain the DT-based material distribution system's components and operation. Furthermore, a dynamic material distribution scheduling optimization mechanism based on DT is designed. By incorporating a savings method and incentive, penalty strategies, improvements are made to the path node selection probabilities and the information pheromone update rules of the traditional ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm. Finally, a numerical case study, using real data from collaborating enterprises, validates the proposed algorithm and strategy. This research offers valuable insights into logistics management and algorithm design in smart manufacturing environments.

In this study, we introduce the dynamics of a Hepatitis B virus (HBV) model with the class of asymptomatic carriers and conduct a comprehensive analysis to explore its theoretical aspects and examine the crossover effect within the HBV model. To investigate the crossover behavior of the operators, we divide the study interval into two subintervals. In the first interval, the classical derivative is employed to study the qualitative properties of the proposed system, while in the second interval, we utilize the ABC fractional differential operator. Consequently, the study is initiated using the piecewise Atangana-Baleanu derivative framework for the systems. The HBV model is then analyzed to determine the existence, Hyers-Ulam (HU) stability, and disease-free equilibrium point of the model. Moreover, we showcase the application of an Adams-type predictor-corrector (PC) technique for Atangana-Baleanu derivatives and an extended Adams-Bashforth-Moulton (ABM) method for Caputo derivatives through numerical results. Subsequently, we employ computational methods to numerically solve the models and visually present the obtained outcomes using different fractional-order values. This network is designed to provide more precise information for disease modeling, considering that communities often interact with one another, and the rate of disease spread is influenced by this factor.

We investigated the liquid water path and global solar irradiance at ground (Q) according to the ICON model, CLOUDNET measurements in Lindenberg, Munich, Jülich, and BSRN observations in Lindenberg. The liquid water path is underestimated, while global irradiance is overestimated. The lower liquid water path is due to liquid water content underestimation practically in all atmosphere layers and lower frequency of liquid clouds occurrence compare to observations. The latter is partly associated with a reduced model’ sensitivity to the cloud condensation nuclei (CCN). An increase in CCN from 250 cm-3 (typical background value for the region of interest) to 1700 cm-3 (characteristic of polluted continental clouds) leads to an increase in grid-scale liquid water path by 40% and a decrease in Q under overcast conditions by 12%. However, we also showed that liquid water path is not a key factor of Q overestimation. The main factor is an inaccurate description of the cloud spatial structure, where the correct prediction of the direct to global irradiance ratio as a spatial characteristic of clouds plays the most important role compared to standard cloud fraction.

A digital twin is a virtual representation that serves as the real-time digital counterpart of a physical object or system. Recent advancements have extended the concept of digital twins to humans, incorporating complex biological data such as DNA (Predictiv Care, Inc.) and immune system profiles. These sophisticated models go beyond mere pictorial representations, offering a more holistic digital reflection. However, a significant gap remains. The current human digital twin models are not capable of learning one’s preferences. In this pilot study, we introduce Diginality, a chatbot powered by HyperCLOVA X, a Large Language Model (LLM) developed by NAVER, Inc. Diginality, learns one’s preferences with custom training from data collected by interview-style questions on the user’s topic of interest. Our findings demonstrate that Diginality successfully answers one’s preferences, thereby adding a new dimension to the concept of human digital twins. This work represents a pioneering step towards creating a more comprehensive and psychologically nuanced human digital twin.

Portugal, in line with the European Union, is aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050 (Net 1 Zero), which implies a transition to sustainable energy sources. Climate change is all too evident, extreme weather periods are occurring in a cyclical manner, with greater brevity to such an extent that the grid operator must deal with production scenarios where it can no longer rely on hydroelectric production given the recurring drought situation. This situation increases dependence on thermal production using natural gas and imports. This has significant economic implications. Portugal has exploited its onshore wind potential, reaching an installed capacity of 5.671 MW by 2022. However, the expansion of onshore wind energy is limited to reinforcing existing infrastructure. To overcome these challenges, it is necessary to expand the exploitation of offshore wind potential that is already underway. This article proposes the location of offshore wind production platforms along the Portuguese coast. This allows for an analysis of offshore production and its optimization according to the minimum cost per MWh in the face of extreme scenarios, i.e., in periods of extreme drought where hydroelectric production capacity is practically non-existent. The model is fed by using market price indications and the amount of energy needed for the following day. Using forecast data, the model adapts offshore wind production for the following day according to the minimization of the average market price. The results of the simulations allow us to conclude that despite the high cost of offshore technology (in deep waters), in extreme climate scenarios, it enables cost reduction and a clear decrease in imports.

For a fiber optic gyroscope, thermal deformation of the fiber coil can introduce additional ther-mal-induced phase errors, commonly referred to as thermal errors. Thermal error compensation techniques are effective means of addressing this issue. The principle behind these techniques involves real-time sensing of thermal errors and correcting them within the output signal. Since it is challenging to directly separate thermal errors from the output signal of the fiber optic gyro-scope, it is necessary to predict thermal errors based on temperature. To establish a mathematical model between temperature and thermal errors, this paper measured synchronized data of phase errors and angular velocity for the fiber coil under different temperature conditions and aimed to model it using data-driven methods. Due to the difficulty of conducting tests and the limited number of data samples, an algorithm called TD-model modeling is proposed to address the issue of overfitting, which can reduce the model's generalization ability. First, a theoretical analysis of the phase errors caused by thermal deformation of the fiber coil is performed. Subsequently, the critical parameters, such as the thermal expansion coefficient, are determined, and a theoretical model is established. Finally, the theoretical analysis model is incorporated as a regularization term and combined with the test data to jointly participate in the regression of model coefficients. Through experimental comparative analysis, it is shown that, relative to ordinary regression models, the TD-model effectively mitigates overfitting caused by the limited number of samples, leading to a 58% improvement in predictive accuracy.

Water conflicts have been a significant issue in Brazil, especially in the Sao Francisco River basin. Subseasonal forecasts, up to a 60-day forecast range, can provide information to support decision-makers in managing water resources in the river basin, especially before drought events. Predictability in the subseasonal forecasts range is a research topic as this range contains mixed dependence on weather and seasonal phenomena. Numerical models may inherit this mixed dependence on their skills. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the Eta Model simulations to reproduce the drought events between the years 2011 and 2016. Two sets of 60-day simulations were produced; one started in September (SO) and the other in January (JF) each year. These months were chosen to evaluate the model skill to reproduce the onset and the middle of the rainy seasons in Central Brazil, where the Upper Sao Francisco River is located. The SO simulations reproduced the observed spatial distribution of precipitation but underestimated the amounts. Precipitation errors exhibit large variability across the subbasins. The JF simulations also reproduced the observed precipitation distribution but overestimated it in the Upper and Lower subbasins. The JF simulations better captured the interannual variability of precipitation. The 60-day simulations were discretized in six 10-day accumulations to assess the intra-monthly variability. They showed that simulations can capture the onset of the rainy season and the small amounts of the rainy months that occurred in these severe drought years.

In verifying programs for embedded systems, it is essential to reduce the verification time because state explosion may occur in model checking. One solution is to reduce the number of interrupt handler execution. In particular, when periodic interrupts such as timer interrupts are incorporated, it is necessary to know the physical time. In this paper, we define a control flow automata (CFA) that can handle time and propose an algorithm based on interrupt handler execution reduction (IHER). The proposed method reduces the number of interrupt executions, including timer interrupts. A case study verifies the effectiveness of this algorithm.

Developmental hazard evaluation is an important part of assessing chemical risks during pregnancy. Toxicological outcomes from prenatal testing in pregnant animals result from complex chemical-biological interactions, and while New Approach Methods (NAMs) based on in vitro bioactivity profiles of human cells offer promising alternatives to animal testing, most of these assays lack cellular positional information, physical constraints, and regional organization of the intact embryo. Here, we engineered a fully computable model of the embryonic disc in the compucell3d.org modeling environment to simulate epithelial-mesenchymal transition of epiblast cells and self-organization of mesodermal domains (chordamesoderm, paraxial, lateral plate, posterior/extraembryonic). Cell fate in the model is determined by an autonomous homeobox (HOX) clock driven by morphogenetic signals (e.g., FGF, WNT, ATRA, CDX). Executing the model renders a quantitative cell-level computation of mesodermal subpopulations and consequences of perturbation based on known embryogeny. For example, synthetic perturbation of the control network rendered altered phenotypes (cybermorphs) mirroring experimental mouse embryology, with 50% reductions in FGF4, FGF8 and BMP4 signaling resulting in 86%, 98% and 59% reductions, respectively in the posterior mesodermal population, while ATRA exposure also resulted in a 78% decrease in this population. This model enables integration of in vitro chemical bioactivity data for specific molecular targets with known embryology to test mechanistic veracity and quantitative prediction of altered development.

In recent years the study of the teacher-student relationship in the teaching-learning processes in physical education has had great emphasis. Previous studies have shown that the use of the Spectrum of teaching Styles can enhance intrinsic motivation, enjoyment, adherence to physical activity and physical activity levels in children and adolescents. The present study aims to assess if a physical education (PE) intervention based on the variations in teaching styles, with reference to production ones, can also have positive effects on physical fitness. The sample involved 4 primary school classes (n = 124 children, mean age = 8-10 years) recruited from the SBAM (Health, Wellness, Food Education and Movement at School) Project in Apulia, Southern Italy. Classes were randomly assigned to Experimental Group (EG) and Control Group (CG). EG followed a 5months experimental intervention based on the variation of teaching styles, while CG performed regular PE lessons. Physical fitness test was assessed with Standing Long Jump (SLJ), Medicine Ball Throw 1kg (MBT), and 20m sprint (20m), while two validated questionnaires were used to evaluate physical self-perception (PSP) and enjoyment. A 2x2 (intervention group x time) ANOVA was carried out to assess significant difference and interaction effect pre (t0) and post (t1) intervention protocol. Data analysis showed a significant improvement of physical fitness in both EG and CG, while PSP and enjoyment increased only in EG. Moreover, significant interaction (p&lt;. 05) effects were found for 20m sprint, PSP and Enjoyment with low effect size (η2 ~. 20). The results of the present study highlight the effectiveness of a PE intervention based on the variation of teaching styles in improving physical fitness, self-perception, and enjoyment. Moreover, the use of production teaching styles significantly impacts self-perception and enjoyment, that are important mediating factors for guarantee better adherence to physical activity.

The educational and play-related activities of children are proceeded mainly indoors in a kin-dergarten. The exposure of children to high concentrations of PM2.5 and CO2 indoors have leaded to various harmful effects and negatively impact educational outcomes in a kindergarten. Therefore, this study presents a numerical model of CO2 and PM2.5 concentration based on two classrooms in a kindergarten. Using this numerical model, we present different scenarios of oper-ating mechanical ventilation and air purifiers in kindergartens with the aim of optimizing for reducing the concentrations of CO2 and PM2.5. We found that the amount of ventilation required to maintain good air quality, per child, was approximately 20.4 m3/h. However, we also found that as the amount of ventilation increased, so did the concentration of indoor PM2.5; we found that this issue can be resolved through the use of a high-grade filter (i.e., a MERV 13 grade filter with a collection efficiency of 75%). This study provides a scientific basis for reducing PM2.5concentrations in kindergartens, while keeping CO2 levels low.

This article obtains data through questionnaire survey, and then uses the Multiple Indicators Multiple Causes (MIMIC) Model to establish the Taoyuan City’s quality of life quantifying framework in a city-level community context. Statistical test results show that the reliability of overall model is high and is suitable for policy analysis. There are thirteen variables in the structural model that significantly affect the quality of life as well as eleven indicators in the measurement model that can significantly measure the quality of life. Then, half of the observations are substituted back to calculate the quality of life. Via ArcGis operation, it finds that the quality of life of Longtan District is the best as well as Dayuan District is the worst one. LISA cluster of quality of life illustrates hot spots areas are distributed in Longtan, Daxi, and Pingzhen Districts.

The watershed hydrologic conditions in the Madre de Dios (MDD) basin in the Peruvian Amazon have been irreversibly impacted by deforestation and changes in land use cover. These changes have also had detrimental effects on the geomorphology, water quality, and aquatic habitat within the basin. However, there is a scarcity of hydrological modeling studies in this area primarily due to the limited availability of hydrometeorological data. The primary objective of this study was to examine how deforestation impacts the hydrological conditions in the MDD basin. By implementing the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model, this study determined that replacing 12% of the evergreen broadleaf forest area with bare land resulted in an significant increase in surface runoff by 38% monthly, a reduction of evapotranspiration by 1% annually, and an average monthly streamflow increase of 12%. Changes in spatial patterns reveal that the primary impacted watershed is the Inambari River subbasin, a significant tributary of the Madre de Dios River. This area experiences an annual average surge of 187% in surface runoff generation while witnessing an annual average reduction of 8% in evapotranspiration.These findings have important implications, as they can contribute to instances of flooding and extreme inundation events, which have already occurred in the MDD region.

This paper investigates the impact of sediment deposition and inflow conditions on horizontal impact pressure and frequency analysis of bridge deck vibrations during flooding. Flooding-induced pressure and vibrations contribute to bridge collapse, and sediment deposition influences water flow and impact pressure. The study explores the relationship between sediment deposition height and impact pressure, revealing a significant increase as sediment approaches 50% of bridge deck clearance. Sediment amplifies impact pressure response to flow velocity changes. The dimensionless sediment deposition height has a greater influence on impact pressure compared to the inflow Froude number. Two distinct frequencies, dominant and secondary, are identified for impact pressure and water level fluctuations. Dominant frequencies positively correlate with sediment deposition height and Froude number, indicating an increasing trend. Secondary frequencies remain stable (0.31-0.58 Hz). These findings enhance understanding of flow dynamics and bridge-flow interaction in sediment-deposited channels, providing theoretical support for evaluating and managing disasters related to bridges in such environments. Overall, this research contributes to the field of bridge engineering and supports improved design and maintenance practices for bridges exposed to sediment-deposited channels.

We have particularly investigated the correlation law of the effect of different carbon black fillings on the hyper-elastic mechanical behavior of natural rubber by conducting uniaxial tensile tests over a wide range of deformations with different volume fractions of carbon black fillings (0%, 4.7%, 8.9%, 12.8%, 16.4%, 19.7%, 22.7%, 25.2%). The results show that the stress-strain curve for carbon black filled rubber increases with the amount of filling, meaning that the rubber gradually becomes "harder". We explore the correlation between the carbon black filling volume and the parameters of the Yeoh constitutive model by examining the Yeoh constitutive model to characterize the hyper-elastic mechanical behavior of rubber with different carbon black fillings. A quantitative relationship between the material parameters and the carbon black filling volume in the Yeoh constitutive model is presented. A method for calculating the material parameters of the Yeoh constitutive model is developed and it predicts the correlation between the hyper-elastic properties of rubber and the volume fraction of carbon black filling.
